Managers and workers purposely avoided eye contact to not serve me and pretend they were closed at 9 when their sign and Unilocal says 10! Thanks a F*ckin lot!

I wanted to try Jollibee since I’ve never been but it was closed by the time I arrived, no drive thru to count on either and my heart was set on Filipino food, so I settled for Chowking. The dining area was bright and inviting and the girls behind the counter were cheerful and friendly. So I ordered a couple breakfast combos since it’s served all day, some dumplings, fried tofu and halo halo. To go. The halo halo I had on the drive home. Some elements were good but I was distracted by some of the ingredients that was either bad quality or bad quality in addition to being left uncovered in the fridge for days. Yakkk. The food wasn’t great. The fried salted whitefish was too fishy with a weird old taste. The red pork was fine, as were the sausages. The rice was bland. Why make it look like fried rice when it’s that flavorless? The tofu were cooked with wannabe seasoning. Wannabe some kind of Asian seasoning. The dumplings were the cheap previously frozen kind. Just terrible food.

Their siopao is good. The halo halo and boba drinks are good too on a hot summer day. The mami soups are a bit bland and just meh, ask for extra garlic and lemon. The rest of the menu are ok, again a bit bland. They need a better cook cuz the chowking in Manila is a lot tastier and better

Masarap ma busog sa Chowking! All Filipinos must make that difficult choice where to eat when visiting in LA. Jollibee or Chowking? All ROUND Filipinos, like myself, say«screw it! I’ll eat at both!» And that’s what I did. When at Chowking I always get their desserts. I went with the Ube shake with boba. It was awesome! I recommend getting a siopao which is a steamed bun filled with meat. Don’t be burdened with such a rough decision of which Filipino restaurant to go to and just be a fatty and eat at both. The workers were so nice and could actually speak Tagalog.

I love Chowking! It’s fast food, but better than your average fast food American joint. It’s a huge fast food restaurant chain in the Philippines serving Chinese food. They have 19 locations in the US so far, and probably set for expansion. All day, you can have dim sum items such as siomai or buchi(sesame balls) for example. I usually go for a bowl of Lomi(thick noodle soup) and a bola-bola(pork meatball) siopao(steamed bun). They also have Chinese fried chicken, Filipino breakfast food, ube or pandan shakes, halo-halo, hot sweet tofu(taho), milk tea with boba and so many other interesting fast food items. Service is so friendly and warm, I feel like I am in Manila again. I absolutely love Chowking! These bad reviews are hilarious. It’s a fast food chain restaurant and I have no complaints and take it for what it is – quick, tasty Filipino-Chinese fast food. I’ll take this fast food over McDonald’s, Burger King, or Taco Bell any day.

The one star is for a restroom without a toilet paper and a toilet paper holder! What!!! So how do customers wipe their butt? Calling the attention of Chowking Management please make sure to make toilet paper available for your customers.

Not a fan of Chowking bases on past experience with staffs but when I saw a poster of a new addition to their menu«Sweet and Sour Pork» decided to give it another try plus the staffs were not the ones I encountered the last time. Not to my surprise, order arrived incorrectly even if I was the only customer at that time. BUT it was the way the Order taker handled it that didnt ruin that morning. She was very apologetic and made it a point to correct it by giving me another set of what I originally ordered asides from what they served me. I gave a 3 star for her service(Jonaline E.) and how they handled it and nothing to do with the food.

Who fs up a family tray of garlic chicken and gives an individual order half filled with rice? These morons! Since you tied my to-go bag, I gave you my trust… I trusted you. I trusted you. Why? Another customer lost because of your superb accuracy. I give you 1 star for giving me enough rice to last me til next week.

I love chowking because they served breakfast all day. I ordered the tocino bangus combo and it was good. They also have yummy desserts like halo halo and bochi. Decent food for a decent price!!!

Whenever I go to San Diego or L.A. this is always the last place I go to before going home. I used to love it here. I’ve always had a great dining experience. That all changed when I came by just two days ago. First off, they revamped their menu, but it got worse. The rice is completely bland and looks lifeless. Also, they don’t let you substitute anymore. All the breakfast dishes come with fish which is actually pretty good, but not something I particularly care to have all the time. They used to let you substitute it for another type of meat, but that is no longer the case now. I ordered the garlic chicken since I’ve never had it and it was surprisingly good. My sister got the tocino which tasted not as good compared to our last visit. My niece didn’t find anything appetizing so she settled for the lumpia. She dug it. It’s not my favorite thing. We also got a buko pandan. I had one sip and was so disappointed. They didn’t blend it all the way through so it was more like you were sipping not all the way crushed ice. But as always, the staff was awesome. They’re always very personable and genuinely nice. Maica was the one we ordered from and she was awesome.

Not so special. They skimp on their beef wonton. Sometimes only 1 wonton and 2 beef chunks and other times 3 – 4 wontons and 5 beef chunks. Most of the time I get only 2 wontons and 2 beef chunks. Really inconsistent. If you want a fast meal I guess this will satisfy you.

Utter garbage, it took forever to get our food us, simple fried chicken and garlic chicken plates, the«dim sum» side and an asado bun. Everything was already out and pre prepped but for some reason they decided to finish other customer’s orders prior to ours… The fried chicken wasn’t terrible, it was a drum stick and thigh. Kind of hard to mess that up. BUT, the garlic chicken was about 50% fat and grease, absolutely horrid and EVERYTHING tasted of salt. Especially the dim sum, which is an insult, and the«steamed» bun, which was super dense with a syrup like sauce on the«pork.» I understand this is a fast food chain, but really? This is not just poor quality, this is an insult to food.

Basic Filipino commercial fast food. So I got me some breakfast combo of garlic egg fried rice, tapa(dried cured beef strips) and egg. It was ok but not satisfying. I didn’t get the uniqueness of the tapa. Ladies were trying their best to be personable. Why are they too skinny?

Tight & limited parking space. Pics on menu look better than actual food. I ordered the garlic chicken & I couldn’t taste any hint of garlic. All it was, was breaded chicken pieces, deep fried. I had their pancit. I love the consistency but it was just way too dry & flavorless to me. Cashier & staff behind the counter were nice & friendly.

2014 Unilocal365CHALLENGE — 296⁄365 Came here with my roommate for the first time this past Sunday. We bought groceries at Seafood City, which is connected to this Chowking. Luckily, Chowking was open until 10pm so we were able to get our fix before they closed! It was pretty clean inside and since we went in past 9pm they cleaned about half of the tables, but left the entire left side available for customers. There was only one other party besides us, so that was nice. Lots of Filipino ballads were playing over the intercom and it almost made me feel like I was in the Philippines again. We came for dessert, so I ordered the halo halo, and my roomie got the taho. The halo halo was pretty good, but not the best I’ve ever had. It tasted good but they kinda skimped out on the various elements at the bottom of the cup. Also they gave me the SMALLEST piece of leche flan on the top :(Ube ice cream mixed in really well and gave it a nice flavor :) My friend’s taho was pretty good. She didn’t like it THAT much but I probably would have eaten it. She really liked the boba the best. Overall, not the BEST place ever for Filipino food, but I thought my halo halo and my roomie’s taho was decent. And also conveniently located next to Seafood City and several other Filipino establishments(Red Ribbon, Valerio’s, Jollibee).

The food is often highly greasy but entirely bland, and comes with an accompaniment of cynical attitude from the miserable cashiers/managers who seem eager to overcharge you. The only thing that tastes good is the Halo Halo… but lucky me. The one day I go, they ran out. –_– fml. Knowing how awful and greasy Chowking’s noodles are, I headed to Jollibee for some tasty fried chicken instead.

I come here for the pandan and ube shakes. They also have decent taho, but their food isn’t to die for. I go to Mami King for my mami/siopao cravings, and to Jollibee when I want Filipino fried chicken. The other stuff on their menu has typically been hit-or-miss for me.
