I was pleasantly surprised when I came here. The service was great. The food was amazing. Loved the bacon wrapped meatloaf. Just a really good experience. I would come back here. The prices aren’t outrageous either for a steak house either.

My boyfriend and I went there 2 nights in a row for drinks, appetizers and to watch basketball. The first night we had the stuffed jalapeños wrapped in bacon and fried mushrooms. Both were so yummy! So after that wonderful experience we were up to going there again the next night. So glad we did. Cory was our bartender, he’s super nice and helpful as we did not know what next to try. He suggested we try the hog wings(which are only $ 3), it came with 2 pork ribs and a basket of chips. The meat fell right off the bone as Cory had mentioned. We also ordered the honey walnut shrimp, which was pretty good, but our goto for now on is definitely the hog wings! Food, service and atmosphere were all perfect!

My wife and I have been enjoying Cool Hand Luke’s since they opened. They remain consistently good and my wife loves their blue cheese salad dressing. We decided to go there for Mother’s Day dinner Sunday evening and the one thing we noticed is that while the food was good, The entire restaurant was in need of a thorough cleaning. Everywhere you looked was dust or dirt. The decorative drapes had cobwebs and dust hanging from them and every flat surface you could run your hand on and it would come back dirty. Hopefully a manager will take notice and get this resolved. Just not an appetizing place when the details are not paid attention to.

Great vibe, service was amazing. Our waitress was new but on top of it. Let us know all the specials. A lil pot of beans is brought to the table. Those beans!!! So delicious! Amazing flavor. I could eat those every day. The skirt steak in the combo I ordered fell flat. It just didn’t taste like a quality piece of meat. But everything else from appetizers, to drinks, to sides that we ordered were great. When in the area again, I’d definitely give it another whirl!

First off I want to acknowledge the wait staff and bartenders by saying they are great! Love Wally and all the others and Justin who no longer works there. All great hardworking people. We are what I consider regulars and usually go in for cocktails and dinner on Friday night. This particular review is for our visit last evening. We wanted to eat in the dining room wanting a little more intimacy than in the bar. We had a drink in the bar and were called to our seat. Drink service was lengthy as we were checking out the menu. We wanted to kinda celebrate cause we hadn’t been out for awhile. We both decided on Steak and Lobster We waited a long time to get salad/soup, it arrived and 30 seconds later we were presented with our entrees. So disappointed knowing I couldn’t enjoy my salad knowing my food was getting cold. My BF scarfed down his soup and I just abandoned the salad as to not have our food get cold. I took ONE bite of the steak and was like«what is this»? We kept eating trying to figure out what was wrong with this meat. The lobster was cold quickly and the butter was unsalted so required doctoring. As things compounded we realized this was just unacceptable. Our server returned and we asked to speak to the manager. Jen came to the table and I asked what cut of meat was paired with the lobster and she answered«Chuck». I lost my mind. Are u kidding me? Chuck steak. That explained the texture etc… She comped our meal in a kind of strange way and we left very embarrassed but tipped our server well. I Love this damn place and in small Paso, choices can be few. With previous Restaurant management experience I know all responsibility is on the shoulders of management. And on that I say get it together. This restaurant could be so much more. And for the love of God don’t serve Chuck steak, especially as your chosen cut with Lobster. Seems like a no brainer.

If based solely on service, I’d give a full 4 stars. Our waitress was great. What tripped us up was the food. We ordered the onion appetizer. It was delicious. just keep in mind its not ranch, but horseradish sauce. lol. Yum for me, not for him. The Mister ordered the full rack of ribs. They come with corn cobettes. They looked gorgeous! He buttered up the corn only to find out they were the frozen, mushy kind. He then proceeded to dig into the ribs only to become heartbroken. They were very rubbery. These are pork ribs, they should come right off the bone, but no such luck. He returned them and ate the rest of the beans and bread. I, being a carnivore ordered the 1pound t-bone with baked potato. The potato was well cooked(trust me some local places have real trouble with this) the t-bone looked a little bland. there were no real char marks or color from searing. It was just kinda tan. According to their menu, the way I ordered it should have been a warm red middle. The whole steak was leukwarm and bites near the bone were positively rare, almost raw. If I had been by myself, I would have sent it back. But I just couldnt do that to our waitress. Like I said, based on service, this would have been a solid 4 star review. But the food. needs work.

Our hotel told us this was the best steakhouse in Paso Robles and since we didn’t try any others, I have no comparison. Everything was good(save the mushrooms which they called sauteed, but were actually just steamed), but I would compare this more to a Claim Jumper(which I do love) than to say a Ruth’s Chris.

My family and I decided to try CHL for a big family dinner of 14 people. We made reservations for 6 and we were not seated until 6:30. The host was incredibly rude to us and not even somewhat friendly. Once we were seated at our table it took our waitress 20 minutes to even come say hello and get our drink order started. Speaking of the waitress she was just as unfriendly and as rude as the host. We eventually ordered our drinks and began to look through the menu. There are lots of options and a wide variety of foods, not just steak. However the waitress didn’t come back until 45, yes 45 minutes, later to take our meal order and by that time we were out of drinks, out of bread rolls and out of patience. After waiting an absurd amount of time our food arrived. Now I would like to stop here and say not all of our food was terrible. My brother enjoyed quite a huge burger along with my Aunt. However my uncle and I both ordered the tri tip sand which. I ordered mine to be cooked medium but when it arrived it was so under cooked I almost gaged but I thought I should try it anyway before I make a fit about it. It was awful I couldn’t even take a bite, it was so tough. My uncle also thought it was terrible. So while I sat there looking at my nasty plate of food I noticed a long black hair wrapped around one of my fries. SERIOUSLY?! Ew. Not to mention my moms fish was extremely under cooked! She cut it in half and it looked like Jello. So with horrible food and horrible service we asked our waitress to take the food off our bill, which she did. She then gave us the checks and never came back for them. So we had to walk up front to pay. If I could give this place no stars I would. Never coming back.

Absolutely enjoyed the food and service here! My fiancé and I went here for our anniversary and didn’t expect much since his mother referred it to us and since we walked in, it kind of reminded us of frontierland in Disneyland.(Which I didn’t mind because our first date was at Disneyland! Heeheehee) Anyways, we both tried the rib eye steak with a fully loaded mashed potato and potato soup that came with it. Aside from that, there was complimentary bread and beans. And everything, I mean EVERYTHING was tasty! Everything was very flavorful and exceeded our expectations. Even the strawberry lemonade in the mason jar was yummy! My only complaint was it wasn’t romantic due to some other customer blabbing her mouth about women being servants in the old days and a long ass story about her«dear Michael» or something like that… Goodness! She was the loudest one in the whole restaurant!!! It wasn’t pleasant for either one of us so we tried finishing dinner quickly to get the heck out of there! Besides that, I enjoyed it and was happy that we tried it out. Will come back here again!

The service was great, nothing negative to say about that, but the food was terrible. We ordered crab cakes for appetizers and I felt that they just microwave them, there was no taste what so ever. Then I chose the clam chowder instead of the salad, super super salty, I guess I should have stayed with the salad Then I ordered the 9oz New York strip medium term and it came well done. I didn’t send it back due to that we needed to leave to be on our way. I am not sure how this place can be called a steak house, the steak felt that it was microwave and then maybe grill or fried. Again, my review is about the food and not the service. Our waitress was great, super kind and friendly. Very disappointed with the food. I know if I am ever on this area again I will not stop by.

This tall building stood out in the evening sky so I thought I would check it out. A great steak place off the main drag. I ordered a pick two combo of tritip and green beans. My tritip was medium as ordered, very tender and flavorful. The green beans were nicely cooked, not soggy. I was also impressed with all the extras. Side salad, rolls w/butter, a crick of beans. I will definitely return!

I have not been to this spot in maybe 8 years? My grandma wanted to go, so we went. We sat at our booth for 15+ minutes before anyone came and said hello or offered water. Just terrible. The sole server passed us a dozen times. We were not sat in her section but she knew we were there and never said a word. Now, after that bit of unpleasantness when our server did show up she was really really nice. A young girl, she seemed to be trying really hard and I didn’t have the heart to tell her we had been waiting an obscene amount of time. We placed our orders and got drinks and bread straight away. It was like a whole new dining experience had begun. She was attentive and polite. Maybe we got sat in here section before she had actually arrived?! No clue. Anyways… Steaks and salads arrived. The salad was my grandmas and it was huge. She ate half of it, and that’s saying something because she’s tiny and normally only eats 1⁄3 of anything. SO it must have been good. My prime rib was tasty, juicy, and good. No real seasoning on the crust that I could see, but the meat was well cooked mid-rare. The creamed horseradish was some of the best i’ve had(read: lots of sour cream haha). All in all I was surprised it was as good as it was. And it was good. My teriyaki, bacon, and balsamic glazed green beans would have been well served in a bowl instead of a plate so all the juices could have mingled and imparted some meaningful flavor to the beans instead of simply running all over my plate, but they were well cooked.
