I really disliked this Payless. The service was non-existent and the selection was awful — I was desperately looking for loose or converse shoes and not a single pair would work. I honestly don’t know how they stay in business next to Walmart. As I was leaving the women who had been chatting the entire time I was there, and ignoring the yelling child running around asked if I had found anything. No. But I bet Walmart has something.

Great selection of stylish and inexpensive women’s shoes. I got an adorable pair of blue flats and the cutest black and white heels with little bows. They have some very pretty purses as well. There was only one or two employees, but that was fine since there weren’t many people. The salesgirl was very polite, helpful and friendly.

Not a great shoe selection and the customer service is mediocre. The girls were nice but not very professional.

With the absence of DSW or a Nordstrom anywhere in sight, there really aren’t that many shoe options on the Central Coast. Enter Payless. Upon entering, one immediately notices that there are about six aisles for women’s and kids footwear and only one for men. As with many fashion related stores these days, Payless seems to give men’s selection an afterthought-ish passing blow. I’m not impressed. My mission for the day was comprised of hunting down a pair of warm house slippers, as we don’t crank up the heat at our house. After pillaging through the boxes, I finally found a set on sale marked down from $ 30 to $ 20. At checkout, both of the girls were pleasant and one of them even tried to up-sell me on socks in a half-hearted fashion. It was quite humorous.
