Went for the first time this week. Its located in the university town Plaza where target and publix is on 9 mile road. Inside was clean. Nice New Orleans décor. I got the pulled pork meal, it came with 2 sides, no drink, but I got an extra side. I got mac and cheese, gris gris greens and corn bread pudding. The food was really good the greens had a good kick to them. The corn bread pudding was really good. Pulled pork was moist and served with your choice of bbq sauce. The mac and cheese was average. The had a decent size seating area of colorful chairs. They sold some merchandise too.

Went there yesterday. Positive experience from the start. Clean, extremely nice staff. It was my first time there. The cashier suggested the pulled chicken and brisket. I picked my two sides: collards & sweet potatos. Unfortunately the collards were sold out. Perhaps this is because they are that good. Instead, i got jambalaya. Whoa! It was the best ive had in a while. All the food tasted really good. Two reasons gor the 4⁄5 star: 1) the brisket was too dry for my liking 2) none of their 3 sauces were appealing to my palate. Perhaps they will expand their selection. All in all, i will go back.

Between us, we had the pulled pork, chopped brisket, and baby back ribs. It was all excellent! Great baked beans too! Next up? Beignets for dessert! It’s just a place in a strip mall, which isn’t what we were expecting, but the food and service were excellent!

Would have been 5 stars except for a little pricey. Really good smoked BBQ that had been handled well. Sauce was different and exceptional. Really good sauce. I had red beans and rice and jambalaya. I liked the sides too. Really good cornbread too. I would highly recommend the place.

I absolutely love this joint. The food is really tasty. Easy dining. Sweet tea is as sweet as I like it. And the beignets are great. Meat is smoked so perfect. Love it.

I never like to see food on the menu that comes from Cisco preprepared. Especially when the prices verge on the higher side of what I would normally like to pay for lunch. Having said that, the staff was very kind and energetic. The smoked meats and burger were very good for a fast casual lunch spot. Even the preprepared sides seem to have been doctored up by the kitchen staff, which is always a good thing when using heat and serve items. All in all it would not be somewhere I would want to eat at all of the time, but will definitely visit again.

The jambalaya was good, but it cost me 10 dollars for a small cup of jambalaya, small corn pudding, and a drink. Didt even fill me up. If they fix their portions to match their pricing I would eat here everyday. But till then no thank you.

This is a great lunch place for sure. I’ve had both the pork and chicken bbq and both have been excellent. I think the sides are really where this restaurant shines. I’ve had the potato salad, sweet potato casserole, and greens. All of the sides have been excellent, but the sweet potato casserole is my favorite by far. Also, the prices are reasonable and the service is great.

My family and I visited for lunch. We were all happy with what we ordered. Everyone at the table but myself and my little niece ordered the pull pork sandwich. I got a bite and it was pretty good. I got the spicy shrimp po’boy and it was pretty loaded with shrimp. It was average as far as po’boys go. My little niece got the kids chicken strips with fries. She seemed pretty pleased with them. The french fries were large and crispy. My favorite! Overall we were happy with our visit. The décor and comfort of this place are nice as well.

The atmosphere is good — like a touristy New Orleans chain restaurant — if you like stuff like this. I had the Voodoo burger, which comes with pulled pork on it. I also ordered a side of coleslaw. I couldn’t even taste the beef patty, which was small and misshapen — so I pulled it off — no need to have extra calories if I can’t even taste it. I actually didn’t bother finishing the sandwich for this reason. The pork was nothing special — and I truly would have enjoyed something from Sonny’s more. Also, the coleslaw was creamy, but very bland. Not exactly the food I would expect from a place called Voodoo BBQ&Grill — pretty bland, not layered with flavor at all. And $ 10 for a bland small hamburger, boring coleslaw, and a drink is steep.

Being a New Orleans native I was really looking forward to eating the«cajun» style barbeque. Overall I was disappointed in the experience. For the prices charged I didn’t expect to stand in a «fast food» type line. Although, once ordered, the food was delivered fairly promptly. The«spicy» mixed meat«carnival» was seasoned mostly with cayenne pepper rather than the true aromatic cajun spices. The chips sold in a small bag are overly tough rather than crunchy. The décor is pleasant and does establish a sense of being in the French Quarter, but the seating is crowded and the atmosphere is more of a dressed up McDonalds. Generally it was a disappointing experience.

Just okay. Nothing special. I felt rushed when ordering and the bread was stale. The bbq was okay though.

Went here today looking for some BBQ with Cajun flair. Food was great, I had the red beans and rice with spicy cajun sausage and it was very good, well prepared. The atmosphere and staff were friendly. If I wasn’t leaving Pensacola I would definitely go back. Afterwords we got the white chocolate bread pudding which was perfect! the sweet tea was great! we also decided to get a Po Boy slices, the meat was super tender almost like pork belly. These guys know what they are doing so if you want to get authentic bbq check them out. The price is very good for what you get, so I have no idea why people are complaining about the price. I am sure if you go to Po Folks or a cheap buffet you will save money or just eat at home(also you can eat plastic at McDonalds) good food cost more. Just think of it as health tax.

For a chain, this place is actually decent. I visited with my family after work on a Monday evening, and they were pretty busy. This place is not actually a table service restaurant, to my surprise. You order at the counter like a fast food joint and then they bring your order to your table. I felt like they probably could have added some extra ambiance by doing table service, but what do I know? The kiddos and wife ordered the pulled pork and I ordered the BBQ shrimp. I’m glad I ordered that because the pulled pork was so tough and stringy. My BBQ shrimp was actually pretty flavorful. One of my biggest complaints is that the portions do not match up to the prices. I think my order was $ 9.99, which I could have ordered at a table service restaurant and I might have gotten a larger portion. The service was better than average, which is why I bumped it up to 3 stars instead of two. I really hope the people at HQ try to fix some of their weak areas, because I really see some potential with this restaurant.

Been here a few times now. Twice, just this week! Just walking in this place is enough to make your mouth water! The pulled pork keeps me coming back, but I’m going to give the chopped brisket a shot today. Thers is a $ 2 up charge for brisket, so we’ll see if it’s worth it! Oh, and the sweet potato soufflé. Mmm! The service is always very friendly and food is brought out in a timely manner.

My visit occurred on a Friday afternoon around 4PM. I was really looking forward to sampling the food at the new VooDoo BBQ place in Pensacola. I had read all about the VooDoo concept on its website and really wanted to try the New Orleans spin on one of my favorite food groups… smoked meat. Boy was I sadly disappointed. First of all the staff(12 people) were most professional, enthusiastic and courteous. The décor and layout were welcoming and downright fun looking. But when you visit a BBQ restaurant that touts itself as serving«competition quality» meats, you expect the best. I am a certified Kansas City Barbecue Society judge and know what competition barbecue is. At a competitive event, if I were presented with the VooDoo meats I was served at the place in Pensacola, the meats would have received a score of 2 to 3 in all categories… appearance, tenderness and taste(with 9 being the top score). I sampled their brisket, pulled pork and ribs. The brisket and pork were bone dry and crumbly. The ribs were also dry with a sticky, gummy glaze of sweet sauce. Not at all appetizing. I also requested samples of their three different sauces. Each was bad in its own way… either too vinegary or too sweet. I also tried the corn pudding(overly sweet & gummy), the greens(mushy and watery), the mac & cheese(clumpy and sticky) and the sweet potato soufflé(excruciatingly sweet, and not even close to the texture of a soufflé). The desserts I tried(bread pudding and brownie) were too sweet to eat. The folks at VooDoo headquarters should really do some quality control work and hire managers that know what really good BBQ is all about. This is a great concept that falls apart in the execution. You’re only as good as your last plate of food. I’ll probably try them again and will let you know if they have learned anything.

Food was just okay. I had the gumbo, sweet potato casserole, and tried the bread pudding. The only thing that I really liked was the cornbread. I love sweet potatoes but their SP casserole made me actually gag– went to the trash. I probably will not be back if it’s up to me.
