Just went for lunch to the location in Pflugerville on recommendation of co-workers. I can’t understand how they can charge these kinds of prices. I got six tiny little fried shrimp and a waffle, for $ 13.00. Add a side of mac & cheese, and my total was $ 17.00. Way too expensive, and the taste was meh. Oh, and the mac & cheese was the only side available. If they would add some sides like green beans, maybe some greens etc., that would be great, but at those prices? I think not.

Gave The Rolling Rooster in Pflugerville a try this evening. Overall a very good experience. The staff was friendly and inviting. They did get one of our orders wrong, but corrected it without hestitancy. The waffles are very good, the wings are good, the Louisiana fries are very good. My favorite was the fried catfish, great cornbread breading. We’ll look forward to dining at the Rolling Rooster again.

As food tuck going to restaurant, I have to admit that they are doing very well. The food & service has been really on point. The chicken & waffles are really good & everything is made to order. I recommend the City of Pflugerville need to check them out on 12th street & enjoy. The prices are very reasonable & well worth it. The Thursday special of two of wings, two pieces, mac & cheese & greens is really good. Wish them best & can’t wait to go back.

Ordered 4 wings with waffle fries. Perfectly juicy chicken, perfectly crisp skin without a ton of unnecessary breading on it. The dude running the truck is a true gent and a master of his craft. Waffle fries weren’t anything to write home about but very good. I’ll look for these folks again next time I’m in town for sure.

Soooooooooo. I think I had my expectation a little high. While it was a good meal I felt the waffle was from a box and nuked, then the chicken was good but a little salty. Again, a good meal but I’ve had better. Thanks for the experience.

Saw the reviews on Unilocal and decided to give it a go… Wow it was amazzzing!!! First off let me say the service was awesome, so friendly and polite and gave us a snack of fries while we waited. Genuine hard workers making damn good food. The chicken was absolutely perfect and the waffle was delicious. I will for sure be back, the prices are a bit on the high side but trust me when I say you get what you pay for.

A food trailer park over in Howard Lane? Who knew! This trailer sells fried chicken. Yes fried chicken, my only weakness along with my other weakness; everything. This chicken is too good due to the seasoning. It’s not spicy but has a nice flavor to it. Goes well with the cajun waffle fries. Found it to be a lot more satisfying and filling than the more expensive chicken w/waffles option. Picked it up on my way from work, ate it all in record time, licked my fingers and passed out. Yea I wasted a good evening but it was so worth it. They fry the chicken after you order so expect a short wait. Friendly service, takes credit card. I’ll be back to try the Mac n Cheese and the fried catfish fillets.

When I think of places that are unpleasant to be in, I usually think of: — the dentist’s waiting room while someone is getting drilled, — spin class, and — working in an Austin food truck, surrounded by bubbling cauldrons of oil, on a sunny afternoon, in the middle of August. Such was the case Saturday afternoon on Howard Lane for The Rolling Rooster’s fry-master Frank. Only Frank had nothing but smiles for us customers. Oh, and chicken wings. Glorious, tasty chicken wings. I’d seen the continual flow of customers as we drive by, so I knew they must be doing something right. The menu is simple. Choose your protein(s): Chicken wings, shrimp, or fish filets. Choose your starch(es): a waffle or waffle fries. Add a side if you’d like(like mac and cheese). Wait ten minutes, and enjoy! I’ve never been much of a «wing» guy, putting them in the class with certain crustaceans, or sunflower seeds, as having too little payoff for so much effort. We’ve all had scrawny wings before. And I’ll put up with that if it means watching the latest UFC pay-per-view for $ 5 at a «wild» wing place, or because a friend apparently hasn’t noticed that certain orange shorts offer the same effect as you’d see all over town this time of year. Rolling Rooster claims«The Best Chicken and Waffles. Period.» And their wings were meaty, juicy, and flavorful. I missed seeing hot sauce there(maybe it was there, I took mine to-go in the provided styro container), but that was all I was missing from meat perfection. I added a couple shrimp to my «4 wings + Waffle» plate. They were ok, but not to the high standard of the chicken. I’d say if I was wanting shrimp, I’d rather head over to the«shack» around the corner on Wells Branch. And the waffle was not as crispy as I’d want. Not sure if that was from the waffle steaming within my container for five minutes as I drove home, or if they maybe need to be cooked a little longer. I know the chicken was cooked to order(you can hear it drop). If the waffles are made in batches, I’d wait a couple minutes longer for a fresh one if that was an option. I’ll ask about that next time I go back. And I will be back. Best chicken wings in town? It’s definitely up there. Add to that a smiling face peering out from inside what must be a sweltering trailer, and you’ve got a recipe(probably containing a secret mix of seven herbs and spices) for success. 4.15 stars
