I really love this neighborhood bar. Such a nice surprise upon moving to the neighborhood. It is very charming and cozy inside. There is also a modern jukebox to purchase songs. They have a good happy hour with various specials each day. They also do Quizzo on one of the nights. The food is decent when they have a chef but that is pretty on and off. Right now there isn’t a chef but they are letting people bring food in which is cool. Lots of locals come in and the vibe is very chill. In the summer, they also have tables set up outside to hang out. Love this spot.

Stopped in for a drink today with a couple of friends. The place was empty, it was just us and the bartender, but it has a good vibe to it. The beer selection is pretty good and the prices are exactly what you would expect. I will definitely be back to have another round with my friends here.

The buffalo sauce and jerk seasoning on the wings were delicious. There’s a large selection of craft beers on tap. We also had the hummus appetizer, it was delicious. Flying Carpet is a great addition to the area. I love Quizzo on whiskey Wednesday!

From the moment we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance, food and service. Felt like home for our small group. We especially loved the crochet pole. Very eclectic. The jerk chicken wings were amazing! Not to mention the baklava(huge), lamb/beef burger and large beer selection. Good find!

Was looking for a spot in the Fairmount Francisville area to grab a quick beer and catch up with my best gal. I decided on flying carpet since it was close and off of Fairmount ave selection. We walk in semi crowded and we just sat ourselves after standing in the entrance makeing eye contact with bartender and waitor and was not greeted or acknowledged. We sit down at a two seater table and I say to my gal lets see how long it takes for an employee to atleAst give us some direction about how this café bar works after clearly makeing eye contact with the two employes working who new we just sat down. 5 minutes go by and Im watching a table of 6 get served drinks from a waitor and 2 other small tables as we’ll as I’m continuing makeing eye contact with the bartender who was not that busy obviously if she can text In between serving beers to the bar every other minute ! At like ten to 12 minutes still ignored and looking directly at the server and the bartender chatting at the bar doing nothing at the moment, I can start to feel my blood boil ! I work in the Fairmount area for years in a customer service based industry … with some amazing genuine neighborhood people … At the 15 minute mark i am ready to speak my mind and let it alllll out ! I pride myself in providing excellent customer service to my clients and are very professional in a hip relaxed environment, soo when I don’t receive a certain level of customer service for no logical reason I can rage a lil bit !! Hahs. I walk up to the bar in front iof the two employes and ask the girl if this is a self serve place or what’s the story? Since I have been watching 3 tables have drinks ordered and brought to them in the pass 15 minutes ! She replyed yea just come up and get your drinks. My response was I have made eye contact with you atleAst 3 to 4 times as well as the wAitor and you couldn’t have greeted us and explained that instead of awkwardly starting back at me? As well as seeing other customers being served their drinks? Basically after that I explained how if you have time to check your phone every other minute and text then you can take 30 secs to walk over greet explain how this bar café works and apologize fir the 15 minutes we waited obviously trying to get your and the waiters attention ! If that happened then I would have been pleased to stay and support a local business but she was very confrontational and just acted like a bratty teenager saying that she was sooooo busy which was a bunch of bs ! At that point the server dude was gone in the back doing who knows what ! I made it clear I was very pissed off and will never recommend this place to the large clients and contacts that I have in the community. This place just really left a bad taste in my mouth and basically two young inexperienced employes running the place have no idea what they are doing or how to intereract with customers. The owner was not there and seemed like there’s no one in charge. All I wanted was a nice beer in a chill local bar and to support a gay owned business which supposedly has a gay night on Sundays which is what that area needs. I’m sure at some point I will stop back in and give it another chance cuz there’s always that o what if it was just one if those bad everything’s off days.

Great little neighborhood bar. They have a great happy hour every day from 5 – 7(including weekends!) All appetizers(except wings) are 50% off during happy hour. They also have $ 2 tuesdays where they select a good draft beer between 7 – 9 and they’re $ 2! Whiskey Wednesdays is also good. My favorite thing on the menu is this middle eastern meat pie. it’s this KILLERr flaky thing pastry crust with lamb, ground beef, greens and a rockin balsamic sauce. and for $ 5 on happy hour, it can NOT be beat!

We stopped in here after having sammiches and beers at a new spot on Girard. We ended up running into Whiskey Wednesday which allows you to purchase any whiskey(bourbon, rye, scotch) for 2 bucks off the normal price. I got a Bulleit Rye and it was nicely priced. We tried the wings and I didn’t think they were much to write home about. They were ok but I prefer others that I’ve had in our fair city. The bartender was pleasant enough and as we were leaving quizzo started up. We hung out for one round and called it a night. If I lived in the area, I would stop in here more often but Francisville is a hike for me. Still, it’s a pretty decent spot.

Great little neighborhood bar. Decent cold beers on draft, and great bar food and healthy options as well. Happy hour specials aren’t very special, but you can tell food is prepared fresh with quality ingredients. It gets really packed on Quizzo nights, so get there early to nab a seat. Will be back again!

was immediately welcomed with cake and baked goods, granted it was the anniversary of the bar, but with said treats I was carded and told I looked like I was eighteen… which I consider an insult at this point. nonetheless, the bar was more expensive then most around Philadelphia and the music was horrible.

I just had my birthday happy hour here and we had a great time! Kevin even had a cake for me, and bought me dinner, which was delicious! He is so hospitable and welcoming, he makes you feel right at home. The bar itself is small, but we comfortably fit about 30 people. Good daily drink specials too. Thanks Kevin!!! :-)

This place is great! It’s my neighborhood bar and I’m so glad it’s close. Great specials every day of the week(i.e. whiskey Wednesday, tequila Tuesday, etc) and you can get great drinks for cheap. I went last night for Whiskey Wednesday and the bartenders ran out of their home made sour mix, so they were just squeezing fresh limes and fresh lemons instead. It was such a refreshing drink and I’m pretty sure it was $ 4!!! Also, the foods amazingggg. Go, go, go!

A lovely neighborhood gem for a bite to eat and some entertaining conversation with the bartender or a local. There are plenty of drink specials throughout the week so there is something for everyone’s price range. Once in awhile they host live bands which is pretty cool too. This is also my go to brunch spot when I’m entertaining out of town guests. Their wings are baked and taste amazing, friendly bartenders, and plenty of drink specials to choose from. Win win.

This is a cute small bar with great beer selection. Our bartender(Hank?) was very welcoming. We were looking at the neighborhood b/c we were thinking of moving across the street and he gave us great feedback. Now that we decided to relocate nearby we’ll definitely be coming back here often.

I find the Carpet to be small but quaint, where you can get to know its staff, and your other patrons as well. I live in Francisville, just east of Fairmount, so I’m excited to have any type of commercial/retail businesses in our dessert of a retail area! The staff and owner are nice and we often have community meetings here, for our CDC, at no charge by the business. I don’t doubt the longevity of the business and I do doubt the credibility of the negative reviews. I will continue to be a patron of this establishment!

I like this little triangular bar for Blues in the Hood on some Tuesday nights. The beer selection is decent and the atmosphere is quite nice– has a community feel to it, where everyone seems to knows everyone. I’d get there early if you like to sit down though!

So I got a random Groupon to this place(that I had never heard of before) and me and my husband walked all the way from Center City to come here(and let me tell you it was freaking cold outside). When we got to the restaurant we were so taken in with the quaint atmosphere and ambiance when we walked in. It was very cozy. There is updated fixtures all over and local art adorning the walls(for sale which is really cool that they are supporting the local artists.) When we started ordering I let the owner know that I had a gluten allergy and he was so amazingly accommodating, he really wanted to go out of his way to get me items that I could eat. The good was just amazing! We had the sampler platter and the Istanbul sandwich(I am pretty sure) and my husband was actually taking little bites to make it… last…I have seen this happen precious few times. The food was made literally right at the moment we ordered, which means don’t go when you starving, but taking the time to wait for this amazing food is well worth it. The focus isn’t on fast and semi-par, but there is real heart and quality that goes into every piece of food and drink ordered, which you don’t find many places these days. We also had the spicy bloody mary and the ginger mimosas… delicious! And there are always craft been specials. All in all, we ended up spending hours here with no problem, the owner and his family were so nice and we had a great time with them. Then Hugo(the most amazing and relaxed, and adorable dog ever) came and graced our presence, which just made the afternoon better in some way. We will be making our way back up there very soon and really can’t wait to be involved in some of the poetry readings and musical events that this venue promotes. Thank you Flying Carpet(and Kevin and family) for an amazing afternoon!!! Absolutely loved spending my afternoon here and experience more of the menu!

Where to begin with this place. It’s charming, and a little out of the way. I like that. I must say the atmosphere is what sells this place. The owner, Kevin, and his trusty usher, Hugo, really add a welcomed feel to the place. Everytime we are there, we end up staying for HOURS just sitting and listening to the music. Our favorites are the smoked salmon sandwiches and the sampler plate. The sampler plate is worth it’s weight in gold. Large and something for every taste. They do offer a great tea selection. I wasn’t too thrilled about the chai but the massala more than makes up for it. I will say the bartending staff are great people and the service is excellent for a date. They seem to know the right time to check up on you instead of the traditional every 5 minutes. The place is a little small and could be drafty in the winter time when the door opens and closes so bring a jacket if you’re not a drinker. If you are, you won’t feel it. Found them initially on Groupon and have been coming back ever since. Give them a shot, you won’t regret it. You’ll also want to like them on facebook. They have some seriously good drink specials.

Kevin, I wrote this review some months ago. Went in, and thought things were great, food, etc. Wished you and the staff good luck. Think I expressed that in my review, but I could be mistaken. Francisville might have the nicest, supportive ppl around, although it is certainly not a nice neighborhood. What I mean is, it is very unsafe and dirty, to deny this is ludicrous and blind. I think I expressed that your café needs support, and ppl should go here, that was the point of my review. If that is rude, or unnecessary so be it, I don’t need to come back or tell ppl on Unilocal to go and support a new startup. Francisvile hopefully is upcoming, but today it is not. Best wishes

This is my new random spot to hang out. It’s like Cheers for me with all the locals that are there constantly. I enter and my name is yelled and I always receive lots of hugs when I leave. Parking is free and there is lots of it. The owner is always pleasant and a character just like the patrons. He keeps an eye on everyone making sure everyone is good to go. His dog Hugo is a regular there too :) He bothers no one. He(the owner not Hugo :) makes a banging roast beef sammy with brie too! That paired with the«spoiled b!@ch» cocktail is a winner for me. There’s table and chairs outside that you can chill at as well late into the night with good weather. They also just started having live music there on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Grab a random hand and get to dancing! Next time I’m seeing if the owner has any dance moves :) I’m in no rush when I’m here and I can just decompress. Where ever you’re at is what you make of it. If you go in there with your nose in the air acting like a jerk(male or female) you’ll get treated that way by the patrons. Also I’m not sure what people expect, it’s a small just right sized place. No one asked for the bar to be a wine & spirites store and no one asked for the food to be a buffet! If that’s what you’re looking for, go to those places! I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars because I can’t wait for the back to open up and for them to have a full kitchen! I also wish they opened earlier during the week so I could do some work during the day time hours here.
