Went here for dinner, looking to relax and enjoy some good food. The menu is quite short but the choices vary greatly. We tried the mussels as a starter and they were great. For dinner I had the salmon and my partner had the scallops with the veg risotto both of which were cooked perfectly and the perfect portion. At first the atmosphere inside can feel a bit snobby and«hip» however the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Worth the price.

I’ve been craving a rouge burger for some time and having made a late visit to the Rittenhouse art show it was the perfect opportunity. The wife and I were fortunate to get an outside table and being so warm and humid I decided to skip the burger and have the soft shell crab sandwich which was amazing. My wife had a taste and set aside her octopus salad and ordered one for herself. I also had a glass of a Grillo/viognier blend that was great with the crab. Our waitress was outstanding and we will definitely be back soon. I definitely wouldn’t want to sit inside as it was small, hot and noisy but outside facing the park was delightful.

My GF that lives in Philly brought me here, she loves this place as it is, apparently, a great lounge to meet people and have a drink. The place is tiny, so i wasn’t that impressed by it, we have good lounges in Miami, i thought. But i have to say the bar was packed and apperently it is always packed. What is it with people loving to sit by the bar? I am a table girl myself, But they only have a few tables that are so close together the arrangements are kind of weird in layout. The have al fresco dining but it was so cold outside we could not sit outside. I imagine it would be a good place to sit and people watch. However, the drinks are nice and we ended up sitting at a table, which you can only use for dinner, so we ordered dinner. The food was good, we had the scallop risotto and that was really good. We meet a few friends there and ended up having a good time overall after departing to somewhere else. I’d say good for a drink and to meet with friends.

I went to Rouge a few nights ago, and as always, had a wonderful experience. I ordered the Rouge Burger, which is thick and juicy, topped with caramelized onions, Gruyère Cheese and a Challah bun. I upgraded from the Pomme Frites that comes with the burger, to the Truffle fries. They were amazing. When the weather is nice I like to sit outside because this is a great spot for people watching. It’s right in the middle of Rittenhouse Square, which is always a nice place to spend an evening. The service was very friendly and attentive. Our waitress came around pretty consistently to check on us. I would describe the ambiance as warm and inviting. It’s a very popular spot, and Rouge is not that big, so it can get crowded at times. The lights are low and the décor, with the outdoor seating, circular marble bar and chandelier, is swanky, but intimate. Their menu has a good variety to choose from. I usually go with the burger, but they also have Lamb Meatballs, which are incredible, Welsh Rarebit Mac and Cheese, which everyone raves about, Tilapia Tacos, which I had once and quite enjoyed, and Herb Roasted Chicken, to name a few. I definitely recommend Rouge. The food is delicious, the location, Rittenhouse Square is one of the hottest areas in Philly, and the atmosphere is fun and lively.

I ate at Rouge for the first time this past weekend and absolutely loved it. My friend and I ate on the patio as it was a surprisingly warm February day. I ordered the Ahi Tuna sandwich with the Parmesan truffle fries, while my friend ordered the Turkey and Brie sandwich. First, let me start off by saying the presentation of the food was beautiful and it tasted even better than it looked. I will definitely be back to try more of the different options on the menu, especially their unique cocktails. I definitely believe Rouge is a MUST if you are visiting Philadelphia.

Food: Ordered rouge burger, truffle fries, and seasonal pumpkin gnocchi. The burger was cooked medium rare as requested but fell apart instantly as the buns absorbed the juice. The pattie was really thick and juicy yet somehow the burger still ended up being dry. We ordered truffle fries but were given plain fries. They were replaced and on the house. The truffle fries weren’t any different though. I found the fries over cooked and dry. Truffle flakes didn’t make them any better. Gnocchi was a small but heavy dish. Full of flavor but way too much flavor. Needed something simple and clean to pair with it. Has a hint of Asian cuisine flavors. Service: Slow server. He got our order wrong but apologized and replaced the fries on the house.

Food is very good but don’t order too much. The portions are actually pretty filling. I had the max and cheese with my fiancé and it was straight crack! So delicious. The burgers were cooked well but I only enjoyed ¾ths because I was so full. You must upgrade your fries to the truffle and parm fries. Holy moly, it’s good. Will definitely be back.

An adorable little brunch date spot conveniently located right next to Rittenhouse sq! The future hubs and I went for brunch on a perfect sunny afternoon, and were seated outside. The wait staff was incredibly friendly, quick, and attentive. I started with coffee, which came(to my pleasant surprise) french pressed. It was certainly a sophisticated twist! Entrees: I ordered the kale salad, which came with a healthy portion of blue cheese, pears, and dried cranberries. The salad was very fresh, and was delectable sans dressing. My fiancé ordered the Rouge burger, which I stole a bite of. The meat was tender, the buns tasted out-of-the-oven soft and fresh, and the portion size very generous. It was certainly a delightful first stop on our visit to Philly. We shall return, on our next soirée!

A true pioneer when it comes to the Philly restaurant scene. This is the restaurant that introduced outdoor sidewalk seating to Center City Philly way back in 1998 and showed that a good restaurant could attract a hip young crowd along with an older crowd until late night. Back then the top restaurants were geared solely towards an older crowd. On 18th St. at the time Devon was a Houlihans, Parc was a crappy restaurant I’ve forgotten, there was no Barclay Prime, A. Kitchen, Dandelion, Serafina, Continental Mid Town, or DiBrunos. The popularity of Rouge changed everything. To this day it is the best restaurant for people watching. Both people watching of locals around Rittenhouse Square, or celebrities. I remember when Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz caused a stir at Rouge. I’ve actually seen too many celebrities to mention going into that restaurant when I lived in the apartment building next door. If you eat inside you will find that the ambiance is wonderful, with very plush seats and impeccable service from the staff. All of the food I have tried at Rouge has been good, but I always come back to the burger and truffle fries. The burger is the thickest burger you will find in the city, and despite its thickness its amazingly juicy. The juice will run down your arm, assuming you don’t make the mistake of ordering it well done(the same as ordering it burnt). The burger practically melts in your mouth despite the thickness. I have no idea how they do it. The truffle fries are amazing as well. When I finish the fries I want to lick the truffle oil from my fingers. People tend to re-write history when it comes to Philly’s food and restaurant renaissance and give Stephen Starr all the credit with his opening of the first Continental in Old City. But it was actually Neil Stein’s opening of Rouge that was more influential. It’s a shame he had tax problems and no longer owns it.

Very cute restaurant in Rittenhouse Square. Has the European seating on the sidewalk so that diners can face the street. Inside, it’s very glamorous — plush velvet seats, a large chandelier lighting up the bar that’s in the center of the room. I recommend ordering the korean bbq spring rolls, the duck salad, and the scallops.

Rouge burger, up to the hype? It’s a darn good burger and was cooked to order all the way through. The brioche bun started to fall apart with the burger’s juiciness, but thankfully I was already starting to get full, so I didn’t mind. The pickle was nothing special: just a somewhat smushy spear. The fries were great: crispy, plentiful, and not overly salty. Is Rouge where I’d go if I was craving a burger? Probably not(only because I know of other places to get amazing burgers). But if I was with a group of diners who wanted interesting salads(kale with shrimp? with fried green tomatoes?), good fries, fish tacos, and other non-burger foods in a good location with good service, Rouge is definitely a solid option.

Very tasty but they need to do some tweaking to the restaurant itself. Now off the bat I have to make a comment on the music they were playing. The music wasn’t live and was coming through to speakers. The music was really bad and hurt what was otherwise a good restaurant. The music was very loud and wasn’t relaxing and it sounded like a garage band loop. I started with the cheese plate and the Korean spring roll. The cheese plate was very good and had 3 tasty cheeses some almonds grapes a jam and dulce de leche. They were all very tasty and they weren’t incredibly filling(which is a good thing) if you split it with others. The Korean spring rolls were very tasty and had a good sauce with them. It also had something next to it that I thought was a garnish but was a good(all be it spicy) appetizer. I then ordered the scallops. They were very tasty and had about 4 on my plate. The rice it was on was very tasty and the garnish made it pleasing to the eyes. But the best part of the meal were the fries that were absolutely to die for and had a great flavor profile. It was nice and I was very happy with the experience they just have to turn the music down.

My friends and I walked through Rittenhouse Square to find a place to eat and decided on Rouge after a few minutes of walking around. The restaurant is on the small side but there were tables open for us to be seated. I ordered the day boat scallops and a side of truffle Parmesan pommes frites. The scallops were cooked very well. I thought that I wouldn’t like the vegetable risotto that the scallops were served with but I was wrong– it was SO good! I could’ve ate a bowl of it. The fries were just as good. My friends were picking off my plate the entire time. Our waitress was very nice and came around to fill up my cup every few minutes so I never had an empty cup of water. All of the food runners/servers were very kind. I definitely will be stopping back in.

Cool place. A little small inside. The food and ambience were good. Actually it was a little too dark for my liking, but it wasn’t an issue. Went here for a birthday celebration with a party of 12. Everything(Lamb meatballs and Bronzino) I had was perfectly cooked and delicious. Gotta come back for the Rouge burger.

Have been here for dinner and Sunday Brunch in the past. But last week I stopped in for a drink with a friend. As always the service was attentive and accommodating. We started at the bar. I love the ambiance here. The place is small and intimate. We were able to get switched to an outdoor table after a short wait. The drink was as ordered. We split the fish tacos. Two to an order, they were the perfect size snack on a warm summer-like evening. And they were delicious. They had a good amount of fish and veggie filling and the ratio was right on. I will be back.

Yay another great lunch spot in the city for a more formal lunch. It is super adorable inside and has an awesome cozy old time feel. I loved my chicken and mashed potatoes and everyone else loved their entrees as well. I LOVE that their menu has one of each type of dish so it’s not too overwhelming with choices and will appeal to any pallet, and it sounds like each dish has been perfected(tons of hearty salad options, and also fish tacos, scallops, steak, tuna, salmon, sandwich and burger entrees — everyone will find something!). Finally, we got most of the desserts(excuse the half eaten pictures, I was obviously too excited and forgot to take pics). The chocolate cake was a bit too chocolaty and bitter for me but that was everyone’s favorite, I liked tres leches the best and the bread pudding was pretty good, the caramel sauce made it. Overall perfect spot for out of towners since it has great views of Rittenhouse, delicious simple every type of food and great service and none of the stuffy atmosphere of near by places.

Never a regular of Philadelphia, but my boyfriend was a resident of Philly. He knew that I love food and enjoy dim lighting/romantic ambiances, so he took me to Rittenhouse Square and gave me a few restaurant options! Looking at the outer appearance of Rouge, I already loved it! Very dimly lit in the inside with lots of mini yellow lights on the wire! This combo reminds me of Christmas! The festive, romantic, cuddly feeling is the best! We walked in and was greeted with a warm and friendly hostess. We sat down and the lounge chair was soo comfy! It was an upscale yet laid back environment! We got a few appetizers to share, a glass of Malbec, and I ordered a chicken pot pie while my bf got a red beets salad. The food was delicious, but it was hard to focus on the taste of my food especially since the atmosphere was so romantic. It directs your attention to your other half. The chicken pot pie was small, but with the appetizers and dessert, it was just right! It;s amazing when you have enough room in your tummy for a three course meal! My bf was vegetarian and not a picky eater, but I have to say that there were not enough vegetarian options on the menu. Other than that, everything was wonderful!
