Based on the reviews on the strawberry shortcake I decided to make to trek to this bakery from far northeast. Nice clean place… Bought cake home … Both my wife and I did not like it… The icing was not what we expected and not enough strawberry throughout… Sad to say ended up in the trash… But the cinnamon buns were good

Horrible! After all the hype and the FYI Philly segment, I decided to give this place a try. Everything I bought, a variety of things, was stale, dry and tasteless. The icing on the cake tasted like grease. I’ve been to some of the best bakeries and was hoping to add this to my list. No way! I threw everything out. I’m happy I taste tested before I gave it to my company. I would never go back nor give this place a verbal thumbs up. Sorry, FYI Philly got this one all wrong.

Strawberry Shortcake, made by many mastered by few. Schenk’s is nearly perfect and I would like to give it 4.75 stars out of 5, here’s why; the writing used in the name, the sugar crystallized so maybe a gel writing would have been better. That’s it, that is the only thing «wrong» with the cake.
The strawberries that topped the cake were sweet and delicious. Most places use strawberries that are past their prime and lack flavor but not at Schenk’s. Can we talk about price? I am posting a picture of this massive 10 inch cake that was only $ 34. I was expecting $ 75, talk about reasonable.
If you need a good, no, great strawberry shortcake, come to Schenk’s, you will not be disappointed.

I used the contact form within their website and they were quick to respond and work within my budget to get me a cake that satisfied all of my needs. The quality of the birthday cake (vanilla layer with buttercream icing, 8″ round) was fantastic. I usually use The Danish Bakery in Rockledge because it is a bit closer to my home; however, Schenk’s is a new contender in the game — huge hit and success for a fair price!

Ordered a cookie tray for work the day before Thanksgiving. The staff had no problem putting this together for me at the last minute and had it ready at the time promised over the phone. People in work raved about the cookies. A huge tray lasted less than 2 hours. (I work with vultures) If you like crunchy chocolate chip cookies, these are my absolute favorite. Even though the bakery was super busy, the staff was really nice.

Cute little family bakery with delicious strawberry shortcakes and an assortment of birthday-​type cakes that you can walk in and get if you’re in a pinch and need a cake fast. They always have a full display case of cupcakes, cookies, eclairs and cannolis. It also doesn’t hurt that their hours are much more convenient than other bakeries in the city. I’ve bought several cakes from here and each one has been moist and just the right amount of sweet. This place is definitely worth stopping in to if your sweet tooth is acting up!

Truly a sad day. This has been my go to bakery forever but I must move on. The makeover has brought minimal improvements (counter staff attitudes) and doubtful improvements (décor) but also major problems. The best decorator in the area is gone, replaced with someone just average but even worse than that the products are poor. A $ 125 birthday cake dry as toast. I’m needing the exact same cake in a few weeks and am heartbroken to have to take my business elsewhere.

I ordered cake for my best friends baby shower here! It was amazing! Pretty plus super delicious cake and cupcakes! The only thing I wish that u guys would give me the cupcakes in cupcake holder or something like that bc some of that got ruined while I was driving. But still it was delicious :-)) thanks so much!

I just needed a basic cake for my daughters 10th birthday since she had already celebrated in Disney World and after reading reviews on here thought I’d give Schenk’s a try. I am SO glad I did!
I got a 14″ round chocolate/​vanilla cake with buttercream frosting and it was DELICIOUS. Soft and moist with just the right amount of sweet… and not too sweet so that it’s hard to finish the frosting. I didn’t know what to expect since it was my first time here, but the cake was great and my guests devoured it. The handwriting is also one of the neatest I’ve had which is something I very much appreciate.
I should note that my husband is addicted to those little pineapple upside cakes. So good, they taste like candy.

Love this place! The staff was so helpful designing my daughter’s birthday cake. Not only was the cake the hit of the party, but it was the best tasting cake I ever had! I can tell this is a family owned and operated place and they pay attention to their customers.

Really good strawberry shortcakes as another reviewer mentioned. I’ve gotten a few of them for various birthdays for coworkers and all have been really delicious. I’ve also had their chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing. I’mnot a big fan of chocolate on chocolate but this was pretty, very moist, just didn’t love the jimmies on the outside of the cake. I’ve also recently tried the carrot cake, which was very rich almost more like a coffee cake than carrot cake, but good. The cakes are also reasonably priced (i think around $ 12 for the strawberry shortcake). It’s worth a visit if you’re in the neighborhood.

By far the best Strawberry Shortcake and Vanilla butter-​cream cakes I have ever tasted.
I have never had their chocolate cakes, but I have had their chocolate cupcake, which is good and their glazed donuts are also delicious.
The next time you are looking for a great vanilla cake (non-​pound), i highly recommend Schenk’s

1 st visit@Oct2011: I saw several flies there (even in the storage cabinet). That kind of turns me down. 3 stars
2nd visit @May2011. iI decided to give it a try again, because this is the only donut shop not chained nearby. The glazed donut is outstaning! the other donuts I think I will go to chained store. Danish is good. prices are not cheaper than other donut shop if u wonder. 5 star this time. (their donut sugar twist is pretty good, and strawberry shortcake)
