Macaron ice cream sandwich? why not?! First time stopping by, and I picked up a tiramisu mac, and honey and milk macaron, both in the regular size($ 1.50). I also tried the peanut butter chocolate raspberry Icecream macaron. I really enjoyed all of it, but my favorite would have to be the Icecream mac, and the honey and milk. I would suggest upgrading to the large size, since there’s only a $ 0.50 difference, yet the size difference is drastic!

Amazing chocolate ganache! The ganache is deep and rich and very smooth. Bourbon smore is great too. Milk and honey isn’t bad but a bit too sweet for me(and there’s no chocolate)

The Sugar Truck one of the best things about working in University City. The macarons are delicious and the owner is super nice. I have had macarons at other french bakeries but they don’t come close to the Sugar Truck’s macarons. My favorite is the Milk and Honey; it sounds plain but it’s so tasty. The chocolate ganache is also really good. I’ve tried some of the fruity flavor but in my opinion they aren’t as good as these two. They also have macaron ice cream sandwiches(perfect on a hot day) and a lot of other great treats. They make the perfect after lunch treat if you’re in University City.

Visited this food truck at the Manayunk StrEAT Festival today. I had two macarons today($ 1.50 each) — chocolate ganache and strawberry. These might have been the best macarons I have ever had in my life. The strawberry was my favorite… it was just the right amount of sweet. The cookie part was not too thin and complimented the strawberry or chocolate inside. My friend had the crème brûlée which she really enjoyed. I can’t wait to find this food truck again and try out other flavors!

Conveniently located near my work, also carried by Hub Bub coffee nearby. Cool and tasty flavors, but in terms of all the macarons I’ve had from places I’ve visited in the past, the construction of Sugar’s macarons are alright. But they’re still pretty delicious!

These are hands down the best macarons in Philadelphia. And believe me, I seek out macarons at every bakery that I visit. They’ve really perfected the texture here. It’s the perfect balance of crisp and soft, and not too crumbly or too gooey on the inside. On top of that, the flavors are so rich and delicious. If you are looking for a sweet treat, either for yourself or as a charming little gift for someone else, this is the perfect place to get it. I haven’t tried their cakes yet, but it’s on my to-do list(Hibiscus Meyer Lemon?! Yes please.)

I am officially obsessed with their Milk & Honey Macaron! Frankly, I’m not a macaron person, I think they are tiny, over-priced, often overly sweet. However, Sugar Philly Truck’s Milk & Honey macaron has definitely converted me. And it’s very affordable, for the portion you get! Usually a tiny macaron costs somewhere around $ 2 per piece, but their large macarons, which cost about the same, is much bigger than the normal macarons you would find in a typical dessert place. Not gonna lie though, I’ve tried their other macarons(Tiramisu, Chocolate Ganache, Lemon, Green Tea) and they were just okay(or may be I just don’t like macarons). But their milk & honey macaron makes it all worth it! Still dreaming about it, while writing this review! Definitely worth a try, if you are looking for an inexpensive, to-go dessert.

Best(French) macarons in the city. Fresh, full of flavor, and delicious, they are worth the nearly $ 2 per pop price tag as an occasional treat. The flavors are out of this world(cinnamon almond and pumpkin pie were my favorites, with chocolate ganache as a close third). The lady who works in the truck is friendly and helpful. An absolute must if you love macarons. PS– These are French macarons– maringue-based cookies with rich decadent filling, not to be confused with coconut macaroons.

Finally! I got to visit the Sugar Philly Truck and get my hands on some macaroons! I ordered 1 milk and honey, 1 green tea, 1 dulce de leche, 1 fruity pebble(maybe it was fruit loops?), 1 tiramisu, 1 salted caramel, and 1 crème brûlée. My husband and I split all but the crème brûlée because… well…I just don’t share crème brûlée :) Our favorites were the milk and honey and dulce de leche. All the cookies were great, not too sweet like miel patisserie. The crème brûlée was heaven. They torch the sugar on the spot and it comes with a lid if you decide to take it with you. I was pleased to see that it contained real vanilla bean at the bottom because I expected some kind of easy make box concoction, but I’m glad they proved me wrong! All of the macaroons are filled on the spot and I’m glad Dan explained that I could put them in the fridge and expect them to still be good for a few days. So far, this was the best that I’ve had in Philly. I was also informed by Dan that sometimes their schedule changes, so FYI, check their website for their schedule to avoid showing up needlessly! Bön appetit!

I tried my first macarons! I had a pumpkin stout and a Vietnamese coffee macaron. These were very good and much stronger of a taste than I would have guessed. The outside«cookie» had a little bit of a crispness to it, then gave way to a soft interior. The Inner«filling» was light and creamy. The flavors were pronounced, especially with the pumpkin stout marcaron, the pumpkin cookie mixed well with the coffee/stout taste of the filling. My understanding is that macarons are pretty difficult to make, which makes this truck that much more impressive. Looking on Unilocal,I saw that they serve crème brûlée. I love crème brûlée, and I’d be interested in trying theirs. Though, the last time I had crème brûlée in little aluminum cups, you could taste the aluminum in the custard. Now, I am not much of a sweets person, but something like this I would order every now and again.

What’s the difference between the dessert you would get at Sugar Philly and the dessert you would get at a nice restaurant? Not much, other than that you get your Sugar Philly dessert fix from a food truck. I got to try the milk & honey macaroons, cheesecake and crème brûlée at a catered event. Chatting with the guy working the truck, I learned most of the desserts are prepared ahead of time since they are custard based. That makes sense because there’s only so much you can really do on the spot in a truck. You aren’t going to fit the cow in there after all! He did have the torch to flambé the brûlée in front of my eyes. The strawberry topped my cheesecake on the spot as well. If I closed my eyes, I could picture myself eating my desserts at a table in a fine dining establishment. That’s enough to impress me and for me to give Sugar Philly a 5 star review.

Mm mm good! I’ve been a huge fan of Sugar Philly since they first opened! Best in the area of Philly I recommend getting their LARGE($ 2) as opposed to the normal size($ 1.50), it’s only a 50 cent different, don’t skimp out on the change when the size difference is drastic! These macaroons are freshly made, melts in your mouth, and not too sweet(which is why I love them). The owner has been featured in various baking shows and have multiple partnerships with other food places such as Di Bruno Brothers who carry their macaroons(but not as good/fresh in my opinion, limited in option, sold more expensive, and do not have the large option size) Favorite flavors Macarons: — Milk and Honey — Green Tea Other Dessert: — Crème Brûlée(better than what you can buy in restaurants! Best part is they have the vanilla beans which perfects the taste for Crème brûlée!) Specials: Ice cream macarons! Switches flavor daily. Strawberry rhubarb has been the fav for me Look on their webpage to see which flavors are being sold each day, there’s a preset menu made for each day of the week. And don’t forget to see if they are open the day you go, there are times when they have events and won’t be open!

Finally found the famed Sugar Philly truck this last week at Night Market. The owner was sporting a wild flavor of macaron ice cream sandwich – white chocolate DORITO… If there was ever a time to try this, it was at Night Market. I took that anticipated first bite(not without many customers in line watching me). Wow. It all made sense. Salted caramel folded into white chocolate ice cream between two macaron shells. Coated in nacho Doritos. This guy really loves experimenting with nontraditonal flavors and I love that. For what makes up for the slightly lesser texture than that of Laduree or Miel, is made up for in these novel flavors(and fair price/size!) The milk & honey macaron was heavenly. I heard my heart sing when I bit into this one. I can’t wait for the next time I come across Sugar Philly.

How can you preserve the texture of macaron’s in a cart? What do you mean you don’t just do conventional flavors? There’s no way you can have good Macarons from a cart right? Sugar Philly is here to give a traditional Philadelphia Middle Finger to everything you’ve known about these tasty treats… and I’m not complaining. Now, I don’t claim to be a Macaron Connoisseur, but I’ve had them from a few places all around, and Sugar Philly can definitely hold its own with the best. Add to that the fact that they are always trying out new flavors, and are cheaper than your typical Macaron, and you’ve got a winning combination. What I’ve had so far Milk & Honey: Their Bread and Butter, and always a safe bet. It has a very delicate flavor and blends in the honey so that it is sweet and noticeable, but not overpoweringly so. Something I always try to get. Pistachio: One of my favorites, the cookie base is texturally interesting and the filling is perfectly balanced. Green Tea: Filled with a sort jelly instead of their typical cream filling. Not my cut of tea texture-wise. Tiramisu: Comprised of two separate fillings arranged in a striped pattern, I thought this was good but not phenomenally so. I suppose I expected a stronger note of expresso and mascarpone, and while It was still good it could have been better. With inventive flavors and good prices($ 2 for a large and $ 1.50 for a regular), Sugar Philly is a sure-fire spot to fill your sugar craving and a go-to for anybody visiting Philadelphia. Also makes a great gift, for any out-of-towners too.

A novelty desert food truck in the University area! For a small macaroon $ 1.50 and a large $ 2, the prices are fair and decent. I’ve tried a lot of flavors and I think Sugar Philly provides tasty, soft macaroons for a great value. Milk tea — The most popular and classic flavor. It is always on the menu for a reason! It’s a nice balanced, sweet mixture of the flavors and has the perfect kick of honey. The filling has a nice consistency too! Pistachio — My 2nd favorite. It’s pistachio… there’s nothing more to say! Green Tea — The filling was a green tea jam and the consistency was softer. Personally, I wasn’t a fan of the jam filling but that’s just me. Red Wine Sangria — The flavors were all too overpowering with each other, a nice choice but I wouldn’t get it again Cookie Dough — Upon the first bite, I thought it was delicious but it left an interesting after taste. Fruity loops — If you have a major sweet tooth and prefer macarons that are more o the sweeter side, definitely try this one! Macarons are the perfect treat for your friends, significant other, or even yourself! With the convenient location(smack dab in middle of campus) and fair prices, Sugar Philly is great place to do that!

A friend bought me a box of macarons from Sugar Food Truck during Valentine’s Day weekend(thank you, A!) There was not a huge assortment of flavors but each was very sweet, soft, and delicate. My favorite was the milk and honey, and chocolate ganache. The fruit one was a bit too sweet; the raspberry filling ended up rather gooey in the box. The flavors change between each season so there may be some offered during certain times of the year, and some offered at other times. I’d definitely recommend stopping by — its a tiny truck, very cute and local, with other assortment of desserts other than macarons. A local hotspot of Philly indeed! Their macarons are also larger than the ones offered by Ladurée…and for a good price! Fairly reasonable price: $ 2 for a large macaroon and $ 1.50 for a small macaroon. Definitely recommend coming! NOTE: I stupidly did not realize I had to refrigerate them so some of them unfortunately cracked and/or the filling melted a bit and oozed inside the box. Luckily for me, they still tasted great. Milk & honey… the bomb. But lesson learned: ALWAYS refrigerate your macarons — and they’ll still taste great for a day or two!

I walk by this truck to classes from work all the time. It whispers my name. After a the fourth time of buying macaroons from here, I started buying them for friends instead of the usual birthday cupcakes. As Thank Yous. To bring to a baby shower. And the list goes on and on. They’re assembled right in front of you. They always have the standard 3 flavors(Milk & Honey, Chocolate Ganache, and Tiramisu) then depending on the day of the week they rotate in other flavors. It may not be may favorite place to get macaroons in the city, but they are delicious AND conveniently located way too close to me.

I have been a frequent customer here, having milk and honey or chocolate ganache all the time. Normally, they are all too sweet for me, UNTIL I GOTTHISAMAZINGVALENTINE’S DAYBOX. I was lucky to pass by Sugar Philly on Valentine’s Day, and happy that it was open. I got a half a dozen box of macarons for $ 11, including some very special: — Milk and honey: still a little too sweet for me — Salted Triple Chocolate: amazing. solved the ‘too sweet’ problem. — Raspberry: my bf’s favorite! it has raspberry jam in the center and it was perfect — Strawberry Cheesecake: extremely good. the middle has strawberry in the center and cheesecake fill around — Peanut butter chocolate expresso: has little hearts on top of it, really cute. Even though I’m not a fan of peanut butter, it’s still good! — Red Wine Caramel: THEWINNEROFALL. Everything was beyond heaven. It wasn’t overly sweet at all, perfect combination, both inside and outside. All macarons covers are crunchy, fresh with perfect texture. Now I’m sad that I didn’t buy the dozen box. If you ever have a chance to try unpopular macarons of this truck, this is a must. They are way more better than just Milk and Honey, Chocolate Ganache or Tiramisu.

Yum! These are hands down the best macarons in Philly and the best I’ve personally had! I had a chance to try out Sugar Philly at the Chinatown Night Market last week. I got one of each of their macarons: red velvet, taro sesame, green tea, pumpkin, vanilla, and cappucino. My favorites were the vanilla and the taro sesame! They were all delicious though and I love how they are bigger than any of the other macarons you can get around Philly. They were a good price, too, only $ 1.50! The shell of these macarons were just the right amount of flakiness, none of that stick-to-your-teeth staleness you can get with some macarons. I would say the filling of these macarons are somewhat untraditional or different from the ones I’ve had before. They had a more creamy or custard-like consistency as opposed to a pastey consistency. I would say the filling is more close to that of a whoopie pie than a macaron. It’s not bad, just different. They do sell whoopie pie sized macarons, too, only $ 2.
