Great breakfast not your artsy fartsy food! Love the seafood Benedict. Penny’s knows hollandaise sauce!

The all American omelet was great. The chili verde omelet was spicy and we got a large chunk of fat that was not appetizing. The atmosphere was great and the service excellent. I would eat here again.

We now have lived on the Central Coast for almost a year. Penny’s is still my favorite breakfast place. I love the huevos rancheros here. Having traveled recently and experienced the same dish at other places, I can tell you that Penny’s version is much better. The service is always friendly and you get free coffee if you do a Unilocal check-in. And my hubby loves his American style breakfast here!

Service was top notch! Breakfast here is as good as it gets! Blueberry pancake was bursting with favor, not too sweet at all. Always visit here! Don’t miss it!

Unilocaled for a quick brunch stop while in the pismo beach area and came across the review of this little café. The service is fast, our server was friendly, and the food is really good. Perfect vibe for a nice weekend brunch, I highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Just the best breakfast in Pismo! No frills high quality food. I had the home made corned beef hash the first time best I ever had! Wife had Penny’s omelette she loved it. Server Chris was great. Our go to place for breakfast you will not be disappointed. Also dog friendly on patio

This place is a Gem! Inside it appears to be your typical coffee shop but the food is spectacular. I always get the«Country Scramble» or the«Country breakfast». Either way you can’t go wrong with this place! Love it! 5 stars!

I’m sorry, I really wanted to like this place because I read reviews that said great things. I called ahead of time to confirm that the patio was pet friendly. When we got there the patio was about the size of a sardine can. It was difficult having my dog who is very well behaved. I would not recommend bringing fido. The waitress was very friendly and tried to get the heat lamps going but one of the was not starting no matter how hard she tried. I ordered the«godfather special». Italian sausage. mozzarella and onion omelette. The omelette itself overcooked, no fluff. There was a ton of sausage, almost too much in comparison with the egg. After opening the omelette I saw one onion ring, which was nicely sautéed, but only one. On the positive side, the hash browns were nicely cooked. The waitress brought sourdough bread instead of the wheat I ordered and at the end of the meal brought the check with wheat toast which she said she wasn’t charging us for. I thought the toast came with the omlette? I rate this low because the atmosphere was lacking in space and welcoming(too small and cold). The food was lacking in taste, quality and what it was advertised as(one onion) and the cost of food did not warrant what or the amount of food that was on the plate. I’m surprised this place was crowded. Obviously, breakfast options are lacking.

What a great breakfast! I am not a breakfast person but the biscuits and gravy were really good. Even though it’s a small place you don’t feel crammed in. They also have an outdoor sitting area and heaters when it’s cold. Also bought some homemade Strawberry Jalapeño jam for donation of $ 5 can’t wait to try it!

I cannot tell you how much my mouth waters thinking about this place! Breakfast was phenomenal!!! Their pancakes are huge and yum, the strawberry waffles were mouth watering, the seafood omelette was an amazing burst of flavors and textures in your mouth, and the Benedict was superb. (^^^^this was all for 2 people) Other then the food. The service was perfect. Smiles, friendly, family oriented, and just happy to be up at 6am to serve Can’t wait to go back!

Right off the 101 freeway in the lovely beach town of Pismo Beach you will find this small but charming Café. The minute you walk in you will feel this positive vibes of this locals favorite place for food. The parking was easy, street parking and there is plenty of it. The service was excellent from start to finish. I had breakfast here and it was great. +++EGGSBENEDICT+++ Two eggs cooked to perfection(poached) with lean Canadian Bacon smothered with delicious hollandaise sauce. The sauce was tangy and yummy. Served with freshly made hash brown. I had coffee with it that was served the way I like it, strong! I hear this place is famous for their Chicken fried steak and eggs. Maybe next time I will give it a try. If you are in that area, you should make a stop at this lovely café in the peaceful Pismo Beach.

In simple terms: a great local spot to grab your breakfast, but don’t come if you’re in a hurry. My group came here on a Sunday morning after spending all day Saturday and Sunday morning hiking around the dunes and Montana de Oro(in other words, we were ravenous). We only had to wait for about five minutes, which was great, as a big breakfast crowd seemed to follow in after us. This spot is cozy — limited seating and space. However, for such a casual and small place, it sure is lively. Sometimes you walk into a place and the crowd seems a bit tired. Not here — everyone was clearly enjoying their breakfast. The water tasted a bit funny(and, consequently, so did the coffee), but my group had been to a couple other places nearby and they all had the same taste to it. We assumed it was just the local tap water, so the restaurant can’t be faulted for that. I ordered the lobster + shrimp omelette, which was solid(drenched in hollandaise sauce in a good way); hashbrowns, which were also solid(not at all mushy); and a side of biscuits and gravy(solid, though nothing fancy or exceptional about them). I embraced my inner glutton and happily cleaned my plate(it was a lot of food). One of my friends had Penny’s Favorite Omelette and said it was also great, so omelettes are a safe bet here. The folks sitting next to us ordered the clam chowder, which smelled heavenly, and the chile verde omelette also looked delicious. I will definitely by trying those the next time I’m in town. Service was friendly and attentive, though a bit slow due to how busy the place is. However, you probably won’t mind, as both the food and crowd here are great.

A tiny little place with a lot of character! I love little hole in the walls like this and starting your day off with a great breakfast is the perfect way to go! Of course I’m the one who Unilocal everything on location to see what pops up near us and the reviewers didn’t disappoint :) As we walked into this place it was packed & it being as tiny as it is it probably holds no more than 40 – 50 people with a tiny yet cute little patio that had about 5 or 6 tables out there. We noticed a few counter seats and quickly grabbed them because we were starving. Within minutes the wait got up to an hour and when we walked out there must have been about 20 folks in line waiting to get in. The food was fantastic, simple cooking at its best with some extra fun choices. We had — Penny’s favorite omelette ~ it had bacon, tomatoes, bell peppers, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, sour cream, salsa & topped with avocado. It also came with a side of fresh fruit!(perfect for sharing) Pismo Pier omelette ~ it had lobster, shrimp, Swiss cheese & topped with hollandaise sauce(so decadent & delicious) Side of bacon and everything came with hash browns & toast. The food was outstanding! Everything was so fresh and flavorful. We also got free coffee thanks to our Unilocal check-ins :) The ambiance is very casual and it just felt like everything was done with love and the service was extremely friendly. Thank you for such a great start to our day!

Delicious all American breakfast! Hadn’t had chicken fried steak with gravy and biscuits in I don’t know how long. It was very, very good here, and the gravy and the steak were exactly what I had in mind when I ordered it. Husband ordered lobster and shrimp omelette, and it was delicious with a generous amount of lobster. I would totally come back if I lived in the area or if the dish wasn’t gazillion calories, but alas, I will have to just take the memories with me and hope it will hold me over until the next time I can enjoy a good old fashioned chicken fried steak. Service was a little chaotic at first, but one of the waiters was super nice, and let us sample their award winning clam chowder soup. It was SO good! I can see how they’ve won awards with that. Recommend if you’re in the area and want some delicious all American diner fare.

I finally tried Penny’s for breakfast during Memorial Weekend. We were told the wait for 2 would be around 20 mins. but luckily we were seated much faster. The service was adequate but rushed. You could sense that the little restaurant is a little short-staffed on a busy weekend. However, where service lacked the food made up for it. My fiancé and I both got the classic eggs Benedict and we were both very satisfied. The eggs were poached well, the canadian bacon slices were thick, and all this was slathered in hollandaise. I may have liked a little bit more acidity in the sauce, but it was delicious. I’m already looking forward to next time.

I came here for breakfast around 11 a.m. on Saturday with a friend and the 2 of us were seated immediately. The restaurant is kinda small so if you come with a bigger group, you would probably need to wait for a table. They have a small parking lot, but there is also plenty of street parking available. I had the lobster shrimp omelette and it was quite delicious! I was pleasantly surprised that it had a generous amount of real lobster and shrimp. It was also covered in a rich and tasty hollandaise sauce that paired well with the omelette. The omelette came with a side of perfectly cooked crispy hashbrowns and toast. I’ll definitely come back again when I’m in the area!

Everything was pleasant and how it should be. We went for lunch and breakfast during Memorial Day weekend. Service was friendly but a bit slow. It gets BUSY. We waited around 20 – 30 minutes both days. Larger groups may need to wait longer to be seated. The food was amazing. The Eggs Benedict was AWESOME. OoOooh that thick slab of ham and perfectly poached egg. I recommend homefries over hashbrown but go with your preference. Fried chicken steak with biscuits and gravy on the side. OMG the gravy was SO good. So good that the BF ordered a dish completely smothered in gravy the next morning called Dave’s Mess… LOL if you know me, yes? I don’t know about the award winning strawberry waffles. but everything else was great! Bloody Mary? Meh~ Not spicy and alcoholy enough for me but I didn’t expect much, they close at 2PM. Overall this place is great!
