Still a great, local place, to consider for breakfast. I love how it’s quieter and more intimate, than a large breakfast chain-type place. We dined here Valentine’s morning. I had the Huevos Rancheros and my honey got the chorizo. Both entrees were flavorful, hot, filling, and priced accordingly. The place is decorated with sports memorabilia and has a country charm flare to it. It’s tucked in the corner of the shopping center, between Subway and Little Caesar’s. Many guests have frequented this place for years.

Cute little place and they have my fiancés police department patch on their wall which was nice to see! I’ve only ordered their French toast combo and it was delicious. I didn’t order eggs the second time because they tasted rubbery so went with hash browns instead, better choice. I really want to try their lunch menu next time :)

It’s OK. Weekend prices are a lot higher than weekday. No longer fair value for your money if you go on the weekend. It’s definitely a greasy spoon place and the Decour is very outdated. It’s a decent weekday breakfast when you can get the special. But zero ambience.

I don’t know how people can give this place a less than perfect rating. Their menu is huge, it’s really cheap, and the food is great! I come here with my girlfriend at least once a week. The décor is a little outdated, yes, but that makes it seem a little more authentic. It’s homey! Over the course of over a year coming here, the service has never been bad, and we usually never have to wait for a table. This makes The Mini Gourmet an easy go-to breakfast spot for us. We’ll definitely be back!

We come here for breakfast and the food is great! This place is totally unassuming from the outside and location but it’s a hidden gem. Service is hit or miss but it’s never really bad. I’m actually craving the French toast as I write this review.

Our server was super funny and entertaining! The chili was great as well at the French sip. We enjoyed our lunch and have become regulars for breakfast! One problem is they seem to have taken away their breakfast specials so we will not be going every Monday anymore.

We went here for lunch and I will never go back here again. My husband and I ordered our lunch and the waiter brought it to us. In the meantime, he and another waiter stood from the distance and laughed while we started eating. Wherever they went in the restaurant they would turn and stare at us when I picked up my sandwich. To make matters worse I saw one of the kitchen hands poke his head out with a big smirk in our direction. I saw the waiter say something to him. We wondered what the joke was and I lost my appetite and wondered if there was something wrong with my food. I will tell family and friends not to go here. No wonder there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The food is much better at Shorty’z down the street off of Placentia Ave. They are a clean place and use better ingredients too. A closer place is not always a good place!

This little place is pretty solid. I work next door and eat here fairly often. Their sandwiches are always good and I love their fries. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend are the biscuits. They taste like baking powder and are too tough. Service is friendly and fast.

For those who grew up in So Cal, particularly North East LA you will relate. The minute I walked in I recognized that old diner vibe. The smell of American/Mexican filled the air. I knew they had to have Chorizo con Juevos, etc… On the menu. The walls are covered with Los Angeles Dodger memorabilia. A pleasant change in OC for a boy raised under Chavez Ravine. I had the Juevos Rancheros and was not disappointed. We are adding this place to our list of regulars.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for awhile. It’s just ok… The Mañana tacos were BOMB but the O’Brien potatoes were under cooked, not crispy outside & soft inside. Prices are a bit high & the customer service is just ok. May give it another try but def not a fave

Nice little place I happen to wander into. I have to admit if this were located anywhere else, it might have afforded an extra star, the prices are reasonable, my waiter was very friendly and accommodating and the décor was pretty awesome. It’s a sweet little nook in the wall, kind of hard to find unless you go out of your way into this quiet plaza. I doubt it gets too much foot traffic. And fortunately, since the famous original pancake house and shorty’z are just down the street in opposite directions, both of which as phenomenal, the competition undoubtedly is tough. When you have top notch breakfast places in the surrounding area, you have to bring you A-game. The breakfast plate I got, was good, but wasn’t amazing. It was a very simple meal, I can’t say too much about it that would really set this place apart from its competition.

There are plenty of little breakfast places scattered throughout Orange County, this one just does not meet my standards for that local breakfast spot, or that go to place that everyone has, anymore. Let me explain. I have visited this place many times when I was young and being a fan of baseball I give them many points for their unique décor. But back when I was young and would come here the food was really good. It puzzles me that people are saying right now«You always get seated right away». In the food business that is not necessarily a good thing. About fifteen years ago you had to wait for a seat because they would be packed, because like I said the food used to be good. Recently I went in and there were two other people in the whole place… not good for business. I ordered the typical American breakfast, eggs, bacon, hash browns, and some kind of bread. I honestly could not eat it all, and not because it was delicious, no no no. The eggs were cold, the hash browns were burnt, and the bacon was charred, and not in the good way. I used to love this place, it used to be the local hang out with my family but I do not know why they have slipped up. The prices are still great which is redeeming, but the food needs to go back to the standard. The one reason that I am not giving this place a 2 star is because of what my girlfriend had. She is a big fan of corned beef hash and they had some of the best looking hash I have ever seen. Chunks of meat mixed right in with the potatoes and she loved it. I on the other hand was stuck with mostly an inedible breakfast. She had a good experience, I however did not. So to be fair I am sticking this place into the middle of the grading scale. Were they good at one time, yes they were. Are they now, hit and miss. That is the biggest issue with small places. You need a good standard and great consistency. The food does not have to be amazing, it just has to be good enough to be in that comfort zone so the people who come every other day or more know that there money is going to a safe bet. I would love to see them improve because I do like this place. They just need that consistency.

Great tasting pancakes and Belgian waffles. They get you seated right away and they have breakfast specials for around $ 5 that fill you up. Good coffee also. The waiters are friendly and will accommodate special orders with no problems. Good place to start your day. Try the«Big Biscuit Breakfast»(two biscuit sandwiches with sausage or bacon and folded egg, served with hashbrowns), it is good and will fill you up the entire day.

Love this place for a great breakfast. It is always busy, but never really full. Seating is always quick and the food is always good. it is a plus that Tommy Lasorda comes here every once in a while because, as a Dodger fan, it is nice to see all the memorabilia on the walls!

Love there pancakes. We been eating here for years. The atmosphere is great for kids with all the baseball trivia on the walls. Every once in a while you’ll see it one of the players come in for breakfast. This place is a must.

Always wanted to try this place and finally got the chance on a semi-holiday(hubby still had to work). It’s hard to see the place and they’re only open for breakfast and lunch. Décor was the baseball sports theme and it does look like it’s been there for some time. What’s more important though is the food. Kiddies had the kids pancake — came with eggs, 1 pancake(shaped like Mickey Mouse), 2 bacon strips(or sausage); price also came with milk or juice. I got the mañana tacos(chorizo and eggs with corn tortilla), which came with hash browns(perfectly crispy without having to request it;); it also came with refried beans and salsa. Thank you previous Unilocaler for letting me know about this dish — soooo yummy! My one daughter doesn’t like eggs at all but she had a couple of bites of my taco and already is wanting to go back so she can order it! I got coffee which was awesome! Perfect breakfast for us — we can’t wait to bring the hubby back.

Came here with my boyfriend and his mother, who had been coming to this place for years. They hadn’t paid this place a visit in a long time, so we decided to all have brunch here. I’m almost 100% sure those waffles were frozen. They were hard to cut and were pretty gummy. What a fail. I also ordered a California omelette, which was fine. But again, pretty sure the hash browns that were paired with it were also frozen. I love discovering great eats in run down strip malls, but when you can’t make an effort to cook real food… that’s a real fail.
