THINKING ABOUT BONES ROADHOUSE MAKES ME HUNGRY!!!
Man was that some good food! This review is long overdue, but driving down 50 today brought back memories of them delicious burgers. Let me just preface this review by stating that Bones is a BAR. It is not a huge restaurant like Texas Roadhouse, Logan’s Roadhouse, etc. If you do not like hole-​in-​the-​wall divey places with tons of character then save yourself the read. Otherwise, let’s review!
QUALITY/​SELECTION: ⁵⁄₅
Bones is a real bar with a solid selection of brews. I believe it is over 15 on tap with many more bottles. I got the Moose Drool, which is always a nice beer after a good hike.
I did not expect much from the food after walking in the door. Not too many bars actually satiate my food desires. I was not left wanting here. A fat ½lb patty with some peppers and a ton of fresh, FRESH grilled onions formed an amazing medley in my mouth. I LOVE onions on everything, and these were perfect. Even the bun (which is normally the worst part of the burger) was delicious. I with that I remembered what is was made from.
Additionally, I tossed some sweet potato fries in the mix. Very good choice. Top of the line sweet potato fries. Some may argue that it is hard to mess up sweet potato fries, but until you have had top notch ones then you do not know what you are missing.
Also, I hear that the veggie patty is to die for, even if you are not vegetarian.
AMBIANCE: ⁴⁄₅
If it looks like there are some bikers out front then I know that it is going to be a great place (bikers are some of the best people you can meet fyi.) The parking lot is surprisingly large. I came on a weekday so I do not know how crowded it can get on a weekend, but there is lots of parking. Inside has a very large ¾ wraparound bar that connects to the view-​able kitchen. Plenty of tvs and entertainment, along with a large pool table and a few seated tables near it. There is an outside patio with many more seats.
What you will notice if you are coming from the freeway is that this place is FAR! Miles of windy country roads with no street lights or signs. Man does that make me want to ride my bike down there. While it is definitely scenic, it takes awhile if you are hungry.
My only other gripe is that the pool table is stationed dangerously close to some other inside tables. More than once I had to modify my shots in order to not hit somebody.
PRICE: ⁴⁄₅
Average price for brews, below average for ballin’ food. Not crazy cheap but I can’t complain.
SERVICE: ⁵⁄₅
Awesome service! Sat down at the bar and was acknowledged immediately. Even if the bartender/​server cannot take your order at that moment, I respect the work ethic of someone that say «I will be with you in a moment.» Anyways I was able to order extremely fast with a waitress who gave me tons of information. She relayed that information to the chef a few feet behind her and he got to cooking. She went on to serve a few other while having playful banter with other employees and basically every patron. As I basically watched my food get cooked in front of me, I can say that my service from kitchen to table was extremely fast. Beer service was quick as well. Had to ask for the check, but I should have expected that sitting at the bar.
OVERALL IMPRESSION:
I was sad that I could not make it out to Bones today. It is not too often that I have a burger that blows my mind. This review is making me rather hungry, so forgive me as a leave and attempt to create a burger on par with theirs. If you are in the area then you absolutely must go to Bones Roadhouse! Just do it!

Amazing food and service. Hole in the wall places don’t get the appreciation they deserve. This is THE place to come for good beer and amazing food! I had the turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce, mozz sticks and jalapeño poppers! I will be back! As a line cook in the industry thank you for the amazing service!

This review is focused on the restaurant service vs the bar. This is a great place to come if you’re in no hurry to get your food. The burgers are darn tasty but the wait is long. It took 1 hour and 4 minutes, after ordering, for my party of 10 to get our food on a Saturday mid afternoon.
I had the bacon cheddar burger with onion rings. The burger was tasty. It was seasoned well and was made of quality meat. The onion rings were delicious, it had a nice cornmeal type crust. The grilled onions were grilled to a sweet caramelization. The iced tea is home brewed.
The interior is very basic and no nonsense. They have a pool table. Again, the food is tasty but the wait is soooo horrendously looooonnnnnngggg.

My bf and my first visit to Bones’ just for lunch and it was an awesome experience. We will definitely be back! Friendly staff, spectacular food, wonderful atmosphere… Well worth the drive.

Bill… please teach your bartenders how to sell product. I thought it was normal business practice when a customer’s beer is towards the bottom to utter those famous words, «can I get you another beer»? Loosen money sir.

pulled pork was fine as was patty melt and fries and beer was cold. typical biker bar. service was not speedy. just a few tables.

Decided to see what the place was about since we were at Apple hill. It took about 15 mins of sharp turns and no shoulder roads. Its a friendly bar atmosphere with low lighting and country/​rock music being played. The wait was long, but the food is great. They run out of fries and onion rings it looks like daily. The burger was well crafted with a great burger patty and the onion rings were perfectly cooked and crispy. The pulled pork sandwich had a lot of flavor and the garlic fries were good. They have a pool table inside and patio to sit outside and WiFi. Also, had a sign for karaōke on Wed. We recommend the burger and onion rings if you are out in these neck of the woods, but you better reserve some time to chill and not be in a hurry.

The black bean burger is really delicious! And the outdoor patio is nice on summer nights.

Good food, very friendly staff, we had our puppy and they were very pet friendly with outside seating. They even brought our puppy water.

Unpretentious, very friendly staff, great service, and a damn good burger and fries! The place is simple and to the point, just like their food. Beats the hell out of the gourmet city burgers I get in the Sacramento area!
Dogs are welcome in the outdoor area, my German Shepard was enjoying licking the burger juices off my pants ;)
I’m a total burger nazi, so 5 out of 5 stars is a big deal for me.

Very Good booze bar and very good food, good service friendly staff always with a smile. A little out of the way but worth the trip for some good beer, drinks and food.

Last night (2÷15÷15) a few of us on motorcycles headed up the hill for a nice ride, and to grab a drink and some food. The food was great! Try the BLT & Avocado! Decently priced. We were having such a good time, we didn’t realize it was night by the time we were ready to leave. My girlfriend was cold, and saw they had some cool looking sweaters for sale. But they were a lil pricey at $ 54.99. But the awesome waitress who had been serving us drinks at the bar straight up gave her sweater off her back so my girlfriend wouldn’t be cold. That was cool as hell! My girlfriend was very thankful.
I would highly recommend this place! Awesome spot to ride up to from Sacramento.

Top Shelf Margarita!!! Amazingly smooth and sneaky. Staff is always welcoming and friendly. I wish their menu would expand just a bit but what they do have is really good.

Every time I am craving a bloody mary, this is where I head to. I’m pretty sure that they have the best bloody mary in town! If you order the «top shelf» bloody mary, you get wonderful additions like pickled green beans, asparagus, celery, salami, cheese and a pepperoncini. Be careful, as this drink might fill you up with all appetizer additions!
The food is good here, and fits the traditional «roadhouse» style. One suggestion I might have is to offer a different type of appetizer. They currently offer jalapeño poppers, or spicy mozzarella sticks. Both of the appetizers are too spicy for my liking, so I stay away from them and just order the garlic fries, which are delicious. As for food options, this is a tough one for me. I am a vegetarian, so of course I gravitate towards the black bean burger. I do give them credit, for at least having a vegetarian option on their menu.
The restaurant has a homey atmosphere and you can tell that many of the customers that come in are regulars. It is fun that they do karaōke sometimes on the weekends, and there are a lot of people that stop by for the music. It is also a plus that they offer outdoor, and indoor seating. We have also brought a friend to this bar who is confined to a wheelchair and he was able to move about in the seating area quite well. The staff is all very friendly and nice here, and they get your food out to you quickly. A perk to this restaurant and bar, is that they offer wi-​fi!

It’s ok. The staff is really lame. They are not smart or funny at all. What a hole to visit. Total bummer today.
They are so slow. They have to be reminded of your order two to three times. It was not Even busy. The food is good. You have to wAit. To long.
Get an idea of the really slow and not so smart staff and redo this place.

The hamburgers are so greasy, I cleaned out the napkin holder from all the grease that came with every bite. I love hamburgers, however the cook needs to let the meat rest just a bit so the juices go back in the hamburger. He puts them on the bun right away and then the bun is soggy.

Out for a Saturday drive we happened upon this little gem… needless to say, our expectations were exceeded!
Greeted by a clean and well laid out bar area, pool table and a smile. Beers were cold and the back patio very nice!
Our meal was excellent! The menu is simple with about 10 – 15 items, but they are well done and exceptionally prepared!
The Big Daddy Dog was AWESOME! Onion rings were cooked to perfection and the garlic fries left us speechless!
The service was top notch and I will be back!
Definitely worth the drive and the stop. don’t miss this place you won’t be disappointed!

Had dinner here the other day. Great food, staff was very friendly.
Had a big hot dog with onion rings. One of the biggest dogs ive ever seen or ate. Enjoyed the place and will go back.
