My son and I used to come here every Thursday after juijitsu because I have a discount card. We got the ‘Lil Hoagie’s’. The sandwich and the fries were good but if we ever tried to order anything else it would be horrible. I agree with the other guy about the ‘extra’s’, they look like they sit out all day long and do not even get stirred. The baked potatoes always look old and yellow/brown. That looks nasty and tastes nasty too. Even though they were on sale, we stopped ordering them. We’ve ordered family meals before where most of the meat was fat. Some people like that but we definitely do not. When brought to their attention they replaced it with the same crap. So after a long time(at least since this new manager guy has been there) we decided to try it again. BIGMISTAKE! 3 big bakers with chopped beef… where’s the beef? The potatoes looked like they’d been there since yesterday. All 3 potatoes were yellowish brown for 80% of the potato. 2 of them had big black sections throughout. Of course, you don’t realize it until you’ve eaten most of the meat and the potato is hard. It’s true… the rolls are as hard as rocks and really small. One last thing, Dickey’s pays to have coupons made and given out, why does the new manager do everything he can think of to deny us from using them? Thanks but no thanks!

Too bad I can’t give zero stars. Not sure where to start but this place is horrible. Based on my experience they have earned every bad review they have received in the past. We ordered carry out. First we ordered a lean cut of brisket and they attempted to send us home with some mushy fatty chunks of beef but I was able to catch that before we left. When I pointed out that we ordered a lean cut, they feigned the ability to hear and only after repeating myself at least four times, did they prepare some lean brisket. We also ordered the spicy cheese sausage. It was cold, greasy and left an oil slick on our tongues that we had to wipe off with napkins. Our mac n’ cheese obviously came from the pseudo-buffet line straight to our container as it tasted old and disgusting. Finally, and maybe the highlight of the meal were the hardened flattish-small square«rolls». I think that I dulled my knife when I attempted to cut one in half as they sort of reminded me of dog biscuits. The bright side is that my teeth should be extremely clean as I felt enamel being scraped from my teeth with every bite as I attempted to chew one. I almost forgot that you don’t get barbecue sauce with your order, which was fine since we ended up dumping the majority of this meal in the trash. This place should be avoided.

Horrible service. I called to put in a pick up order. They put me on hold. I was on hold for over 10 minutes so i got sick of waiting and hung up. Never got to order. It should not take this long to place an order!!! Definitely never coming here.

It’s kind of a run down joint with a weird smell in the bathroom… and then I had my lunch. I had a veggie plate: mustard potato salad-wonderful; baked beans-good; mac and cheese-really good; a roll-fabulous. Not a review you would expect from a Barbecue Pit, but that’s how it happened.

Literally don’t waste your time. I have been to this location many many times and trust me when I say it is terrible all the way around. The people working in there act like they have no common sense nor do they have customer service. It is so slow that you will waste a huge chunk of time just waiting to get food because they are so slow. One of my visits in there the to go side was so backed up so I walked over to get in line to get my food cut up in front of me. The guy just stood there taking drinks out of his glass and ignored me. The to go section is constantly backed up. Not to mention their tea tastes like the urn is always dirty. I have finally decided to write this place off for good. I keep hoping it will turn around because a few years ago it used to be a great place to go. If you want to eat barbecue from dickies you might as well drive north on Preston and go to the one there. They are fantastic with their food and customer service!

McDonald’s is to the hamburger what Dickey’s is to barbecue… Good BBQ and sides, and always consistent. A staple to Dallas fast food for many years. Over the last several years more niche BBQ places have opened with more emphasis on quality, service and ambience. But you can still always count on Dickey’s for a decent meal on the run.

Dickey’s scratches the BBQ itch for me. I like the sides especially the potato salad. I think the best part of Dickey’s is being able to make a left-overs sandwich full of BBQ brisket and a mix of all the sides!

I’ve had better BBQ. I consider this to be more like a fast food version of BBQ. I went in with the mindset that this is a chain and it’s not going to be the greatest BBQ — just quick, easy, quality take out. The meats were decent. Maybe a bit better than I expected. I ordered Mac and cheese. I’m extremely picky about Mac and cheese. It’s OK but I probably wouldn’t get next time(unless I can’t think of what to get). I can make Mac and cheese that’s much better. Overall, its not bad but it’s also not the greatest. This place isn’t too far from me — I would only go back only because of convince.

Disgusting food! We only came here because we had a bogo coupon. The food was dry and it looked like it had been sitting out too long. Their bbq is not good. Do not have their be sauce, it tastes like tar. Gross place. Never again

Went here for a work lunch, and found the barbecue to be overpriced and sub par. The brisket was okay, but the ribs were reminiscent of a roadkilled carcass that had been left to dry in the sun. The sides were comparable to something I’d expect from a soup kitchen, and immediately after returning to work, one of my co-workers spent the rest of the afternoon in the bathroom. Overall, I can’t recommend this place to anyone. Save your money.

I get take out from Dickey’s a few times a month. The food is always great. I have never had an issue with the food. Sometimes they run out of meats and sides early in the evening, but nothing that would be a «deal breaker». I love the sausage and turkey. The spicy sauce is the best. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The prices are reasonable. They have daily specials so check those out!

If you want a knock-your-socks-off bbq experience, Dickey’s is not the place. Go to Austin and wait four hours at Franklin Barbeque, lol. Dickey’s is great for me because the barbeque is decent and when I don’t feel like cooking after a long day, take-out is quick. The guy I’ve ordered from(the blonde guy manager… ohhh, whats-his-name) is always pleasant and accommodating. So I will come back again and again for take-out. Easy and good. And a little note: If you want take-out service and no one is at the counter, just hit the bell.

So disclaimer: I wanted to give the service and staff 4 stars and the food 2. So, an average of 3. I couldn’t figure out how to get into the dine-in line, it was behind a tall wall that wrapped around the corner. At a whopping 5’2″ I was unable to see this and walked backwards through the line, upsetting a gentleman who was entering it from the correct end. I asked for my meat they chopped and weighed it, and then handed me my plate. Due to the location of the serving spoons I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to serve myself or not. Also, they did not tell me I could put my sides i nthe cups, so that I got a full serving. The food was pretty ehh, something you can get at a chain pretty much anywhere. THe place wasn’t too clean, but I liked the touch of the free ice cream. I would have been interested in there being additional barbeque sauces for the dine in, or the ability to get the sauce on the side, but it was a solid non-overpowering sauce. When I was paying the manager was asking me if I was interested in a frequent customer card, my response was that I was going to have a heck of a commute from rhode island if I were to take one. Upon hearing this, he asked me what brought me out here and how long I’d be out. Because I was working at the hospital across the street he said my lunch one other day this week was on him, and he gave me a card for a sandwich and side with the purchase of a drink. While I didn’t return, I thought this was an awfully kind gesture to give someone who would only be able to provide you with limited business.

Awesomeness, great staff. Will definately return. We had brisket, pork, ribs and a bunch of side(mac and cheese and jalepeno baked beans particularly memorable). Yum! A chain, but still very cool!

I wouldn’t have minded this place several years ago… before I realized I had a palate. So I go here, because it’s Thursday and I am feeling completely outta my element(under normal circumstances I wouldn’t step foot in a Dickey’s). I had planned a fabulous Tuna Croquette for dinner, but was lacking a key ingredient, anyway it’s like 5:30 and my kid is flipping out and I need something fast. So I go here. Oh. Em. Gee. Diiiiiiiirty! What else? Oh, they totally ignore you in the to go line. Like, I stood there forever. The food was cafeteria stuff. It was literally the worst brisket I’ve ever eaten. Allllll fat. I had recently told my husband I couldn’t tell the difference in expensive and cheap BBQ. I retract that statement after this experience. The Mac and Cheese tasted like the box stuff. The okra was okay-ish, for what it is. The free soft serve ice cream at the end is fun. So there’s a positive. I guess. Anyway, no more Dickey’s for me!

Like Dickey’s but my experience here was not so good. Ordered Westerner sandwich, grabbed a small bag of frito’s(2oz) and a the smaller cup for serve yourself coke. Checked out and bill was something north of $ 12. I asked why the sandwich was not at listed price of $ 7.50 for two meats. «Well that is a «special» with pork and ?,. But that is not what I got. and not what I ordered, and further not what is on the LARGE sign overhead. Yeah, but different meats cost different price. Whatever. So BTW. how much then is this little bag of Frito’s? «$ 2.18.» You gotta be kidding. And the smaller drink… no matter what size they charge you for the BIG one. Sorry Dickey’s Plano. I won’t be back.

Since I try to avoid eating bread and a combo meal at a fast food place is difficult without bread etc. Most fast food places you’re lucky to get 1 or 2 oz of meat and mystery meat at that. I like to stop in at any Dickey’s when I’m out running errands for a quick plate with just meat & Caesar salad. It’s a bit more expensive than a fast food combo, but I feel like I’m at least eating healthy and I pretty much feel safe eating something I know what’s in it rather than the preformed«chicken» meat or the ground beef mixtures that have mysterious additives. I feel you get what you pay for. You want cheap you get cheap! They have good ice tea and lemonade.

Love BBQ… H8 this Dickeys location… I am pretty sure that when spend the extra money to get the 2 meat plate you are supposed to get a larger amount of meat… Am I missing something??? I guess the folks at this location forgot that small tidbit of common sense when I ordered a 2 meat plate and a friend ordered single meat and yet. somehow… He had more meat with one serving than I did with 2! Please remind me why I just paid more to get less!!! In what world other than weight loss do we pay more for being able to eat less… Last time I checked I was not going to a BBQ place to eat Jenny Craig!!! For the money I will stick to Spring Creek BBQ… At least there… They understand pay more = get more! Later Dickeys!!! Daniel B
