Spicy delicious goodness! Good flavor, sauce is to die for! Go on a Thursday so you can get burnt ends. Best I’ve ever had! Amazing service, the bar tender hooked me up with homemade sweet tea. I’d give 10 stars if I could.

This place sucks. Food is great, service and atmosphere is shit Wait times are ridiculous. Employees are entitled punks serving food acting like Porsche salesman. Better service at Denny’s. Avoid this place. MM

I went for lunch on Friday Jan 29th. This was my first time so I didn’t know exactly what to expect. I ordered a pound of the moist brisket and the habanero/bacon mac n cheese. The brisket was fabulous although a bit too«moist»: The smoked flavor is excellent and you really don’t need any sauce, but it is also excellent! I think I scored with the brisket, but I get the impression that all their meats are great. The mac n cheese had a perfect amount of heat and is probably the best mac n cheese I’ve ever had. Looking forward to my next visit!!!

This is the best barbecue place period. Brisket, prime rib, burnt ends, baby back ribs, smoked chicken, whiskey butter turkey and so much more. They occasionally have three different kinds of chicken wings: smoked, Carolina Reaper(hot and yummy) and my favorite– Parmesan. Once in a while they have quail, salmon or something out of the ordinary, but it’s all very tasty. The sides like, Mac & Cheese, green bean casserole, bread pudding, slaw, deviled eggs, and a few more I’m sure I’m forgetting. If you are into local Texas brews, they always have a great selection to choose from. Lakewood Temptress is my personal preference, but I’ve sampled a bunch of different locals crafts as the rotate through. The Lakewood/Rahr collaboration called DFW is a great choice when they have it. Stop in and say hi to the awesome staff. They know how to make you feel right at home.

Tip 1: You can only order by the ½ pound, so bring friends if you want to try a lot of different meats. Tip 2: Don’t wear your Sunday best. You’ll walk out smelling like smoked meat. Tip 3: Brisket. Extra moist. More on that later. ***Meat review*** +Brisket: Ask for extra moist! This was by far the shining star of the meal. The meat guy looked at me and said, «3lbs of brisket, right?» I laughed, thinking he was joking. Now i’m not so sure. If you choose one, choose this. Extra moist. +Pork Ribs: Mmm yum. It’s not melt in your mouth, but it’s very tender and the pork flavor shines. +Burnt Ends: Might just be me, but I thought it was a bit of a mixed bag. It was sometimes fatty or rock hard. Then again, I don’t really know what burnt ends should be like. ***Sides review*** +Jalapeño and Sausage Mac n Cheese: special side of the day and special indeed! It was kind of its own meat dish because it had plenty of sausage in it. It was perfectly creamy and cheesy with a great kick from the jalapeño. +Lockhart Slaw: Tasty and refreshing! A must get to clear the palate.

This place was great ! Stopped in from a recommendation from the hotel we were staying at. The staff was super friendly(we explained we were front the northeast and I asked for their recommendation) they let us try a variety of things! I ended up with the brisket, habanero macaroni and cheese and the blue slaw. Also tried 2 of the m local beers on tap! Staff and atmosphere were great and I would definitely recommend you truly this place of you are in town!

Left on a really disappointing note. Incredibly inconsistent with their meat quality. First time I came here, I had a great time. Delicious pork spare ribs $ 7.29/half lb and nice, fatty brisket at $ 8.99/half lb. It was tender, moist, juicy, and meaty! It was so amazing that I went home and told everyone to try this place. After raving about this place to my family, I brought them here and it was so disappointing. I asked for fatty brisket and most of the slices given to me where all lean cuts(the guy threw away the fatty portion when I specifically asked for it???). The brisket was dry, and the cuts are really thick. I also ordered the spare ribs this time, and it was really dry and hard to chew this time. No flavor. It was NOTHING like my first experience here. The guy gave me the worst cut possible. Large bones with very little meat. The meat was undercooked and way too tight/lean. also, I asked for ¾ lb of pork ribs and ½ lb of brisket, but I was somehow charged $ 30 which makes absolutely no sense. I know it’s never exactly the ½ lb measurement, but whoever got my meat today clearly went way over what I asked for. Sad to say I won’t be recommending this place to anyone since I feel completely overcharged for really shitty, dry meat today. I guess I came back on a really really bad day, but the spare ribs today were some of the worst I’ve had in a long time.

Lockhart! Now I’m absolutely positive that their entire staff is fantastic! I came in here today for a very late lunch and ended up making new friends. Megan & her manager were very welcoming to all. Even those with bad jokes *ahem*. What I love about Lockhart is you order exactly what you want by the slice and/or bone. Then its served to you on paper!!! They know how to smoke all meats here. Personally i am hard pressed to think of another establishment similar to this other than *bleep* in Wylie. Great selection of whiskey and beer. You really cant go wrong. Its almost like walking into a Texan version of «Cheers». You wont be disappointed by their daily specials either. Just check the chalkboard in the left. I will be back.

We had high hopes for this place and it didn’t let us down, so much that it didn’t meet our expectations. I had the ribs and brisket. Overall it wasn’t bad but both could use more seasoning. They have something called beef«clod» which we sampled. It really did taste like brisket only much leaner and a good beer flavor. Again more seasoning would have been nice. My wife had the ham and was overall pleased by how it tasted. Not overalls salty at all. Very meaty and moist. The disappointment came in the sides. I had their proprietary potato salad called«Lockhart potato salad». It had a smoky taste and it wasn’t your traditional white/yellow salad. It had a brownish look. The other side was their spicy Mac and cheese. My wife is no wimp when it comes to spicy food but this was overpowering. I could only take a couple of bites and decided it wasn’t worth eating. Bring down the spice a little and it wouldn’t be that bad. All of the meats are served in brown butcher paper. Think«Rudy’s» but without a tray. You just grab your food, find a table and unwrap.

Took my ladies here last night(NYE)… This place is in downtown Plano and very easy to find. Parking is a snap with a public garage close if you can’t park up front. Place was pretty much empty with a person at the bar and another family eating. We ordered the beef brisket along with sides of potato salad, jalapeño cole slaw and I had to try the habanero Mac and cheese. Well, I’m not BBQ foodie, but spending $ 50, plus the«pressured tip» with the tip bucket glaring you, and having your food put in a butcher paper, sides in styrofoam containers and plastic silverware isn’t my thing. Yea, I seen that in the pics. I didn’t think there wouldn’t be at least a paper plate to eat off of. One thing off the bat. Our brisket looked NOTHING like in these pics posted. The brisket was extremely fatty. It had a nice bark and flavor though. Just needed to eat around a lot of fat. At $ 18 a pound, that’s a lot of waste. The potato salad was pretty bland and lacked any type of flavor. The slaw was good and had a nice kick. And the Mac and cheese basically tasted like it was from a TV dinner with some heat added from some habaneros. Sorry, maybe I am just not into BBQ as others seem to be or maybe this place isn’t as good as has been reviewed. I mean, Won’t be running back, that’s a given…

Ribs and brisket were what we were looking for and we got some good smoked, moist meat! There was good balance of fat and lean meat on both and we really enjoyed it. When you get your meat and bread wrapped in the white paper, you’ll see the juice soaking through at some point, but that’s always a good sign. The menu is pretty simple and the guys behind the counter will help you figure out what to order if you’re unsure. The sides, however, weren’t that memorable. The mac and cheese was a little bland and dry, sadly. The baked beans were okay though! Good flavor. Upstairs and downstairs seating is nice. We came for dinner on a weekday and had no problem finding space to talk over a nice BBQ dinner.

Ah, so many texas nomz. I guess the battle is between lockhart and pecan lodge, when it comes to Dallas bbq? I didn’t try the latter but lockhart definitely didn’t disappoint. The line for lunch(on a weekday!) crossed the entire store but I suspect that’s the norm for this place. It was a long wait but totally worth it. Between me +1, we had ¼ lbs of beef brisket, ribs(1 rib, actually), sausage, and green bean casserole. I don’t know why I wasted my time with sides when there was so much meat to be had but I thought it would balance things out. which it didn’t because I barely touched it. For two people, that was A LOT of food. The brisket can be ordered regular or lean(we got half and half so I could try both) and the ribs are HUGE. The sausage was average, wouldn’t recommend it with so many other good things going on at this place and just don’t even bother with the sides because they’ll just slow you down. The place has a full bar with lots of local brews on tap but we decided not to imbibe so early in the day. BBQ sauce and various condiment things are located by the fountain drink machine and utensils are all plastic. for obvious reasons. The BBQ sauce had some kick to it but I found that a lot of the meat didn’t even need it. it was flavorful enough on its own. One note: wear clothes that you don’t mind being infused with BBQ essence because you’ll walk out of this place smelling like the meat you just ate. Again, totally worth it though. :o)

Sweet, smoky brisket. Mmmm. I think after eating brisket from all over the country, this is the first time that I’m had brisket that was on the sweet side. Between the layer of fat and the burnt crust, there was a nice smoky and sweet layer. Or it could have just been the burnt crust that was sweet. Either way, it was delicious! ½ pound of brisket was $ 8.99 and ½ pound of spare ribs was $ 7.99. Also ordered a small serving of mac and cheese. Other than the brisket, nothing else was worth writing home about. Mac and cheese was actually kinda bland. But give that brisket a try though!

Day two in the Dallas area and the office needs something for lunch. Unilocal research tells me we need Lockhart’s Smokehouse. Lockhart’s gets it right. This would be a regular place if I lived in Richardson, Fort Worth or Dallas. I placed my order over the phone and dispatched a couple of coworkers to pick it up so unfortunately I wasn’t able to see Lockhart’s with my own eyes. The G2 I received back said that the aroma of smoke was heavy in the air, the parking was full and the line was out the door. These are all signs that good BBQ is within. Lockhart’s menu is simple and my order was too. Two racks of pork ribs, 2 lbs of brisket, coleslaw and baked beans. The food arrived wrapped in brown butcher paper that was already translucent with the juicy BBQ goodness soaking through it. This is how you know you’ve come to the right place. They included two loafs of white bread a pint of dill pickle slices and sliced onions with the order. Authentic BBQ is always served with a slice or two or white bread and the good people of Lockhart’s were making sure we got the full experience regardless of whether or not we were eating at the restaurant or taking it to go. In addition to the food they sent along rough torn brown butcher paper place mats, two rolls of paper towels and utensils. They thought of everything. The sides were delicious although the baked beans had jalapenos in them and packed quite a punch, which must be a regional thing. Our new friend at Lockhart’s sent along two different types of coleslaw. Blue Cheese slaw, which is exactly what you’re thinking and delicious, and the Lockhart’s slaw once again had peppers in it and was not appealing to me. The ribs were to die for! Meaty, juicy, tender fall of the bone goodness that delivered on every level of measure and the brisket was no less delicious. Dark bark on the outside, smoke ring on the inside again tender and juicy goodness. I can’t recommend Lockhart’s enough. If you’re visiting the area make time to stop by if you’re lucky enough to live nearby drop what you’re doing and go there now!

Saw this place was one of the best BBQ spots in Dallas. I’ve had a lot of BBQ, so wasn’t expecting this to be much better, if any, than BBQ I’ve already had in my life. Oh how wrong I was. I got the ½ lb brisket and a couple of unnecessary sides of baked beans and mac & cheese. The Brisket is probably the best I’ve ever had, and nothing comes close. The outside had a nicely formed crust which packed a lot of flavor. The meat was incredibly tender and juicy and could be eaten with just a fork. They did leave the fat on there, so had to carve that off, but no biggie. The sides were pretty decent too, with my favorite being the mac & cheese. I finished it off with the s’mores bread pudding which is just bread pudding with chocolate syrup throughout and a toasted marshmallow on top. Also very good. This was a lot of food, and I didn’t finish everything. The brisket and one side was more than enough.

When in Texas gotta have some southern BBQ and Lockhart did not disappoint! So you basically order at the counter where they will slice up your meat and pack it right up with paper… And then you find a place to sit open up the package and there’s your meal laid out for you! I tried their Brisket which is a must have!!! So good! Moist and tender!!! I also had their Pork Ribs which was good bc it was meaty but their actual meat was kinda dry… And also their Jalapeño Sausage which was spicy! Nomnom! For sides I tried their mac&cheese which was to die for and their beans… So Good!!! Also their coleslaw was good too!!! Overall the food in general was good period. If you’re looking for BBQ in Dallas… Lockhart won’t disappoint… At least I enjoyed it! And it helped that the people working there was extremely nice!!! Oh and the condiments were good too… Loved their pickled jalapeños! :)

Shoulder clod was dry and not moist. Pork chop was decent, good. Brisket — there’s lean and fatty. And of course I went for fatty. Never thought I would say this, but maybe a little too fatty. But very tender and juicy — which I liked since I’m not a brisket person as they tend to be on the dry end in other places. Best meat out of the menu items. Have not yet tried the beef ribs(Wednesday only). All sides are supposedly spicy when I arrived, except for the dessert. Or so says the sweet girl behind the counter(and yes, even the slaw). Am I supposed to eat dessert as a side to the main meat dish? No. And how was the dessert? The Whiskey S’mores bread pudding was just ok — a bit too sludgy. Accompaniments — store bought bread, store bought pickles, all very below average. :( Service — one of the most friendly service I have seen in a while. They love to let you sample and try different things. Verdict: Unless if you come for the beer and sport games on TV, just get the brisket to go and fix up the nice accompaniments elsewhere.

Ommmmnomnomnom. ok. yum. i was walking out of fourteen eighteen coffeehouse around the corner after coffee with friends… and was about to head home when i smelled this delectable smokey bbq scent waft my way. instantly turned and went searching for the source. pleasantly surprised to find that it was lockhart! i had heard about lockhart from dallas blogs and articles about the dallas location, and knew that they had opened a joint in plano, but didn’t realize that they were right here!!! so close! pleasantly surprised indeed. i got a half pound of brisket(he asked if i wanted lean or fatty. um. FATTY of course! it’s incredibly moist and dripping with flavor from the fat. :D haha) i also got a link of sausage… original flavor and they had habenero & sausage mac and cheese *drool* apparently there’s some ghost pepper essence as well. cheesy spicy goodness! sorry — no pictures of food. i was too busy devouring it all… more like… inhaling. it’s delicious. but kinda pricey. ½ pound of brisket ended up being just 2 slices and that was $ 8.99 per ½ pound. $ 5 for a link of sausage and then like $ 4 for the mac&cheese? maybe $ 5…i forget. it was a small little side. i was definitely being a fatty and indulging today. :P by the time i got there… around 7? there was a little bit of a wait. just one lady at the register and one guy slicing meat. a lot of their specials were already sold out. like the charro beans and the prime rib :/oh well.
