They have pretty good sushi here and I used to go to the old location quite a bit but the new location is easier to get to coming from N. Dallas. I have had better sushi but this is still pretty good. The service was excellent and have no complaints at all about the décor so just giving it three stars here as is nothing exceptional.

I am really picky with my sushi. The best thing about this place is it is BYOB(gets one extra star). Otherwise the sushi is middle of the road(2.5 stars). I would eat here again if I were craving sushi and nearby, but would not go out of my way to eat here.

Decent sushi considering we ate here the day after Christmas as i write this review. Had the california roll, shrimp tempura, shrimp tempura roll, red snapper and yellow tail ! All good, but not great because it seemed not too fresh. Either way I got full and the service was good even though just slow to bring food out as there were only a couple people working. Dont be afraid to try it if your a sushi aficionado but also I recommend just sticking to your favorite sushi spot as this place is different than my fave … Avocados! happy hunting

Great place! Sushi fresh and delicious! Service is right on. Highly recommend if you haven’t tried. Currently BYOB which makes it even that much better!

Friendly service, but the food was barely above average — it probably didn’t help that last weekend we ate at one of the best sushi places the North Dallas area. The Nabeyaki Udon was too sweet and the chicken seemed slightly overdone. The Marinated Salmon that others on the Unilocal have raved about didn’t seem as fresh as other places I’ve been to in the area. The eel and avocado roll that we got — well we could barely taste the eel at all.

Ordered delivery. Maybe that’s where I went wrong. Food was late, and what came was horrible. Dry chicken teriyaki with a thin bland sauce, foul smelling sushi and the salmon looked as if it were melting. Miso soup was bland and only had a few tofu chunks in it– nothing else. Shrimp and veggie tempura was soggy and cold. The dumplings were cold but about the only edible item that came. Never again. It was very disappointing considering the high rating on here…

Came here for dinner. I’ve been to the former location. This one doesn’t have the allure of the other location. But you really can’t get that in Plano. The rolls were very simple. It’s not rubbery as the others had rated discussed. I was a bit disappointed by their specialty King Crab Roll. The ginger sauce wasn’t what I expected and it wasn’t any different than a regular California Roll. So don’t get that one. We saw a couple robb rolls Their soft shell crab shell appetizer was excellent. It’s crispy crunchy and well seasoned. Oh they also have happy hour specials(without the booze). They currently don’t offer alcohol as they’re applying for a TABC license to sell alcohol. So go ahead and head to that liquor store across the highway and stock up on sake before you dine. The best part of our dining out experience here is that one of their sushi chefs look like Mr. Miyagi. We couldn’t help but stare in awe and expect only the best. Since Mr. Miyagi knows two things fish and karate. Service was good. She came by to refill my water every time. They were pretty quick and friendly. Overall, it was a good experience. It just wasn’t some place where i couldn’t goto everyday. I would like to come back again and try their udon noodle dishes.

This place does not get enough attention as it is one of the best sushi in Dallas. I have tried sushi in different Asian countries and this is in my top 5. Also, the service is exceptional and they remember you every time you come and give you hugs if you earn them.

I have to let people know that this is not good sushi… You want good fresh sushi? Go across 75 to Simon’s Sushi. At least they take pride on serving fresh fish. There is no excuse for serving old fish on a Friday evening in this city. And that is what we just received this week after hearing good reviews on this place. I don’t want rubbery tuna, smelly yellow tail, or bland sauces. If you need to know where to find good fish for your restaurant, go ask Simon across the street or Tai House Sushi in Craig Ranch… They ALWAYS have unbelievably fresh fish that I will not make the mistake of passing up the next time I want sushi. Extremely disappointing.

We waited a long time before we were even served our drinks. Ok… so that was the first sign things may not go as well. I hate to say I was right. Took another long 20 minutes before our first appetizer arrived. It was the spicy buckwheat noodles. Awful. Too sour & noodles were too soggy. Had one bite & didn’t eat the rest. Waited another long 15 – 20 minutes before our tempura came. It was mediocre. Then another 15 minutes before our shashimi came. The miso soup tasted like the instant powder that you can buy from the grocery store. Another 15 minutes before our sushi arrived. It was something similar to Ahi Tuna Tower but this one was served in a huge martini glass. Go figure how you can mix everything together. You can’t!!! Not practical at all. Mind you the restaurant wasn’t even that packed! Eeerggh… hate going to a reataurant & coming out feeling this way. I like for restaurants to do well. This one needs tons of improvements. If you live in the Plano area, Densetsu Japanese restaurant is fabulous! Just look at their reviews here & you’ll believe me.

We picked this place based on reviews for a surprise birthday dinner. From the reservation phone call, early arrival, table switch and set up, byo sake warmed up, service, and paying the bill was so enjoyable because we were treated so well. We felt like guests invited into their homes. The staff was so great! And the food was as good or better than the service. We brought in a large bottle of sake and it was heated and served by a gracious waitress. I really want to give 5 stars, but it did take a long time for our food to arrive. Which allowed us time for gifts and conversation, but we ended up pushing 3 hrs for dinner. We did bring in birthday cupcakes from Whole Foods Market. And the staff didn’t act offended or bat an eye. With great food, impeccable service, and peaceful décor… nothing will stop me from coming back or telling my friends about this place

. Tonight we visited Sushi on Mckinney for the first time at their new location. It was fantastic! Highly recommend the Devil and jalapeño rolls, most unusual twist. They staff was fantastic and the atmosphere was perfect. I don’t know about all of Plano, but if you live in Allen or McKinney, this should be you new sushi destination. BYOB temporarily, so just stop by the new Specs on 75 in Plano and pick up some sake or Japanese beer. They have everything else ready for you to keep it cold. Location could be easily overlooked, hopefully will not be a problem. I wish they would have chosen Allen or downtown McKinney, as we need a great sushi restaurant that is committed to providing great service and the highest quality sushi

This longtime Dallas Sushi establishment has been responsible for introducing many, many Dallasites to Sushi since they first opened«a million» years ago. Sadly, time moves on and they lost their original location on McKinney Ave. After a brief stint across the street from their original location they moved north, far north, to thier current location along I75. While their current location does’nt have a sopt in the upscale McKinney Ave neighborhood, and may take a little more effort to find, what they do have is an inviting space and the same friendly people who have always made guests feel welcome. But what really makes the trip worthwhile is the food. The sashimi is as fresh as you can find, the Hamachi Kama(slow roasted Yellow Tail collar) melts in your mouth and they still have, in my humble opinion, the best spicy tuna hand roll in town. So, gas up the car and head to «972» for what is still some of the best sushi in Big-D.

So excited to have this place in or neighborhood! I took the wife and kids on a late Saturday afternoon. We were the only ones there, so we got awesome service. And they were great with our 2-year old. Sushi was delicious too!

Absolute delicious! Keep your eyes open for the sign that tells you it’s there because it’s so hidden you might just miss it. Other than that this is one of my favorite sushi places ever. If you’re looking for a quiet romantic date this is it, the sushi is very fresh and the staff is superb! Love love this place and we will definitely be telling all of our friends to come here.

My favorites are three of their very unique specialties. One is the devil roll made with yellow mustard and yes it’s really fast heat but it’s gone as fast as a hit you. Two is marinated salmon. It has an amazing flavor and I don’t find it very many sushi bars. Three is their version of the jalapeño roll. Just enough jalapeño for heat but more of a guacamole roll. I have been going to this place since they opened the first time over 20 years ago on McKinney Avenue in Dallas. It’s still my very favorite sushi bar.

Sushi«on the way to» Mckinney, for those of us familiar with the former Dallas institution. I really like this location. The restaurant sits lower than freeway level, providing a sheltered calm from the hustling traffic yet is quick to get to. Also, the décor and style of the interior is fresh and mature. We went partly because they serve till 11pm on weekends. It seems like it would be a great lunch spot as well; there are nearly 30 appetizer and side items to explore. They give you an a-la-carte tempura order form along with the standard sushi order form.(Who else does that?) We had a tiramisu for dessert, it was superb. Interestingly, they offer espresso drinks and the waiting area in the front is a like a coffee shop.

Best Sushi in a north Texas. Staff is so great! They appreciate and take care of their patrons. Our favs are the spicy pressed tuna, Robb roll, special no. 10, and hands down, the California roll, not like anyone else’s California roll.
