This resturant did not pan out! It was feature on «Check Please», PBS and what a huge disappointment. I couldn’t find anything not spicy, not fried or fresh. So I went for the Cod sliders. I asked for mashed potatoes on the side as I cannot eat slaw. The fish was thickly battered and overly fried in old grease. And they served it with«home potatoes«. The waitress did not even bother to tell me they were out of mashed potatoes and went ahead and placed the dish on the table. The sliders consisted mostly of bread and batter… where is the cod?! I expected fresh fish with fresh veggies and a fresh side of rice or potatoes… something delicious and fresh made. BTW I asked the waitress 3 times… no ice in my water… and of course there the ice was… in my glass of water. We should have just went to the deli and order fresh sandwiches to take to the beach!

The food wasn’t just good, it was excellent. The service was excellent and the prices for freshly cooked real food were super reasonable. I look forward to dining here again, we had breakfast on a weekend; eggs bacon, omelet, potato’s and pancakes! Next time lunch!

Best cob salad I’ve had in years. Order the popovers — they’re delicious. The mac n cheese is the best in town. Padron peppers at the bar are a real treat.

I’m giving it only 3 stars this time, as we’ve eaten here many times and it’s been fine, but this last time was absolutely unacceptable. We were seating pretty quickly out in the patio and thank you for that. Hardly a 5 min wait. Sunday, Superbowl Sunday, to be exact, in the early afternoon. Our waitress barely made the time to attend to our table and many times we looked around and could not see or find her. So what I’m wanting to comment about was what I ordered… a cheeseburger with fries… pretty harmless, right? I went out on a limb and asked for Feta cheese instead of chedder. When the meal came in about 25 minutes(ugh), the burger was loaded with chedder. I asked our waitress next trip she made to our«area» if she could correct it, she apologized and took my entire plate leaving me with no food while my husband ate his eggs. She asked me how I wanted burger cooked. Med Rare, please. In about 3 minutes she was back with my plate, hmmmm… that was fast! But wait! The cook had just peeled back the cheese on the burger, and slapped some chunks of cold feta in a new bun and REPLACEDTHESAME hamburger patty! And it was cold, of course! Plus I obviously got the bottom of the barrel French fries since they were ½ pieces and potato«dust». She never came around again, and I wanted to send it back but I didn’t. It was awful. I brought this to waitress’s attention and her reply was, Oh that’s bad! with a laugh, and, no apology. No offer to replace again, nothing. Bill came, and I did not tip. Sorry, could not muster that up this time.

My buddy and I will occasionally take a drive and find a new place for brunch in Marin, which is always a great experience. I have some amazing photos of Marin beachfront as a result. To go so far up the coast puts you in a whole new milieu. I’ve only been to Sutter House Café once on a Sunday morning. I really enjoyed the fact that this little town(Point Reyes Station) is way out of the way, and the dining is much like the smaller town places I used to go in my college years back at UW-Madison.(Go Badgers!) A good brunch menu combines breakfast food and a mid-day menu of satisfying food. I had Omelet with Tomato, Avocado and Cheese. My buddy had the Hangtown Fry(an interesting dish in California Lore… Oysters are a high end thing going back for centuries. Legend has it, a guy who was about to be hung requested this meal. Doubt he got it.) Both came with a generous portion of quality, but under-seasoned Home Fries, and our choice of toast — we both went wheat. They have orange marmalade on the table, which is my personal favorite. Hopefully the pictures I shared give you an idea of the food. The bar area is somewhat separate from the actual dining area, although it is fine to eat at the bar — again, another plus. I say a good Bloody Mary is key to a really great brunch spot. The Bloody Mary looked iffy enough not to have in the first place, granted I live in walking distance of a lot of great Bloody’s. $ 9 for a so so Bloody isn’t a great trait — my buddy didn’t order a second. They have a full bar with a few solid beers on tap, although nothing special. Sutter House Café is not the greatest place in the world, but it was worth a visit in the big picture. I love a Sunday drive, and that this is in the mix in the(sorta) middle-of-nowhere is a big plus. In fairness, I have written many reviews about how under-rated things can become in the Bay Area as a result of how many things are wonderful. So, maybe I’m just spoiled on great SF brunch spots. (Super Secret extra part of this review, is that they apparently have live music from time to time.)

I have been coming here for 15 years and it’s like second dining room for me. I’m always greeted with a smile or a handshake. The food is organic and delicious. The service is very attentive and courteous. They do get very busy on weekends or when we have great weather. I’m a local resident and have the luxury of going to this restaurant during the slower periods. My favorites are the Dungeness crab salad, Station House burger, sauteed greens with polenta, vegetable soups and their clam dish. I would definitely recommend this place and call ahead to avoid long waits to be seated.

I was visiting my friends that live in Inverness over the weekend and on our first day out they took me to Station House Café for some breakfast. It’s such a cute little town. The waitresses all knew my friend and asked her how she was doing. Just very quaint. They sell souvenirs in the lobby so this must be a very visited spot. I ordered a coffee and the french toast breakfast. It came with 2 slices of french toast, 1 egg and bacon. The bacon was REAL bacon. Thick cut, nice and crispy. The french toast was great. It was your typical diner feel but they had a bar side to it as well. I suppose that area is much fuller during dinner. Great service.

Came here after a strenuous 12 mile hike. My stomach was ready for anything, so might want to keep than in mind when reading ;) Walking in everything I saw being ordered looked amazing, but alas I decided on a few things to cancel all the calories I just burned. I needed caffeine badly so bad the double shot latte. Not the best I’ve had, but my friend ordered espresso milkshake which was amazing! I ended up pouring the shake into my latte… Best decision ever. Milkshake alone is really yummy too! N Mac n cheese with pork belly was also delicious, but I wish there were more pork belly! The combo was perfect when doused with Tabasco. Definitely give this a try! BLT — wish the bacon was warm, but the flavor was good. Not the best BLT. Also wish it didn’t come on wheat bread! Maybe ask for a different/specific bread if you want this. Came with a delicious pile of pickled carrots and a pickle slice. If you’re hiking anywhere near Point Reyes, swing by. Don’t stop at the tourist trap when you hit the end of Sir Francis Drake. Make a right and go to Point Reyes station for some real food!

We were staying in the area on a mini vacation and came here for lunch. I got a BBQ Sandwich, friends got a large Chicken Caesar Salad to share and my BF got the Oyster Rockefeller — all this in addition to some cocktails. The oysters were def the hit at lunch — my BF absolutely loved them! My BBQ sammie and fries were less impressive — they tasted ok but they were cold, like barely warm. I’m just speculating here, but it took a really long time for our food to come out so I’m guessing that mine was the first ready and it sat on a counter somewhere and waited for the other dishes to be ready. I didn’t have a chance to talk to our server about it because she was unavailable most of the time — we sat at the bar and she was the only one serving the patrons at the bar and also making all of the drinks — she was nice but ineffective at being our server. The Caesar salad was also unimpressive — it tasted good but it was small. Other people that were sitting at the bar ordered a SMALL Caesar salad and it was huge so they thought that the LARGE would be LARGER… fair assumption, right? Well, if it was larger, it wasn’t by much. As previously mentioned, our server was unavailable most of the time so we were left with empty glasses quite a bit — good because it kept our bar tab down, bad because, well, we wanted more drinks. Eh. I might come here again, but I’d definitely be inclined to seek out another option.

The amazing mocha and friendly service are what stood out to me the most. The waitress made dietary substitutions for my mother and was patient with my kids. The food was hearty and filling and cooked well. This seems to be a local favorite as there were many small groups there and more than a few elderly. Décor was nothing special but it was clean and clearly they made an effort to spruce the place up(paper lanterns in the bar area). Overall I would go back.

My husband and I love coming to the Station House as I used to work for them back in the day when it was at the old location. The food is amazing and the wait staff ladies, gotta love them tons! I have a soft spot in my heart for the place, so we go there everytime we are in the area. Warm, inviting and great food!

Very nicely prepared dishes with amazing warm rolls to start your meal. Great ambience, and if very nice sized private dining room in the back for events. Family and kid friendly, though it can get a little bit loud during the height of the evenings. Definitely make reservations if you have a larger parties than three or four. Locally sourced fresh ingredients and a very nice preparation for an enjoyable meal. Not rushed at all, and perfect for the casual dining experience at you are looking for that represents the small little town well.

First time in Point Reyes. After seeing the lighthouse, a friend and I was looking for a place to have lunch. This was the largest restaurant in town(not the only one), and it had a wide variety of breakfast choices, lunch that including BLT, chili Turkey soup, Salads, and a wide variety of oyster/mussel dishes. Took a while for the dishes to come, and a line for the bathroom, but the atmosphere is definitely for family oriented/friends. Definitely worth a visit. Plates can range anywhere from $ 10.00-$ 15.00 on average. We went on a Saturday, there is a wait for more than 2 people.

So after a full one hour wait after we ordered no food no apology and my kids were starving! Done the place is a joke. If I was the owner I would drug test your staff straight away. I would also suggest a bath and laundry for the bus boys.

I don’t know how I missed reviewing this place, and I have been here a half a dozen times over the past 20 years but here goes anyway. We were there on a busy Saturday afternoon, but none the less got seating in the bar(which is just as good as the main dining room). There was patio seating too. I had the chowder and while the presentation was not thrilling the taste was perfect. It was loaded with clams too. Wife and I shared a burger which was way too big for a single person. Gail was our server, and took time to find out about our ultimate destination Pierce Ranch historical site. Very patient with us. She also brought extra condiments of mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup too. Gail was all smiles and perky and seemed to enjoy service her«guests». It made our lunch seemingly special. BTW the great chowder was less that $ 7 bucks. If you are going to the beach/lighthouse/ocean you might as well stop at the Station House for food. Its a keeper.

A perfectly serviceable place for a meal in Pt. Reyes Station, and if like us you are looking for a meal at 5-ish on a Monday, it may be one of the only places available to you. Oysters are excellent, and the caesar salad is a little bit inspired as is the broth for the mussels. Everything else — duck confit hash, pork terrine, etc. — was pretty good, but not worth writing home about. Service was very friendly, especially in light of how slammed they were, but if you order a mess of appetizers they’ll all come at once unless maybe you ask for them to be staggered.

I eat here a couple of times a year… it’s not a bad place, and has a couple of things to really recommend it. 1. The garden on a sunny day is gorgeous. The tables are far enough apart that you don’t have to listen to other people’s conversations(not that what you have to say isn’t riveting or anything.) 2. Waitstaff is great. I figure The Station House has changed hands several times in the 15 years or so I’ve been coming here, but they have been absolutely consistent in hiring lovely waitstaff. Now of course you want to hear about the food. Well, it’s kind of hit or miss. I went in for dinner and the Warriors(game 6) the other night. We sat at the bar, and had beer(decent draft choices) and split a salad, onion rings and a couple desserts. The onion rings were excellent. Lightly battered(the batter was tempura-ish) and we asked for creamy feta dressing to dip them in instead of bbq sauce. Yum. Next was a cobb salad. It had all of the right ingredients, but I ate a bite with something moldy toward the end(and no, not the blue cheese) which made the end happen faster than I was planning. I said to kid ‘Uhm? I just had a bite that was not good.‘ She said ‘Mold? Yeah. Gross. All done. I was hoping that was just a fluke, and wouldnt happen to you. That’s why I said you could finish it!‘ I guess I raised her wrong, right? Not good enough for her, but fine for me? Clearly I blew it in the parenting department. So then we ordered desserts. Anyone who reads my reviews knows I am not very fair about desserts and pretty demanding. Caveat stated, so here goes. No. Don’t get dessert, unless you just want ice cream with hot fudge(yes, that was good.) I could go on and on but I’ll spare you. Total bill about 60 with tip. But it was worth it because the venue was fantastic, and the service, beer, onion rings and ice cream were stellar. And so were the Warriors!!!

We were out of food at the campground, so it was time to venture forth and find ourselves some breakfast. We ended up here at the Station House Café, which was a great choice! Breakfast here is a little bit fancier and a little bit pricier than we were hoping for, but in the end it was worth it! The menu here is small, but even so it contains some very interesting choices. Husband went with the Hangtown Fry – breaded and fried oysters cooked with eggs. He was really pleased with it, being a breakfast option that was totally new to us, and delicious as well. I kept it simple with the feta and spinach scramble so that I could also indulge in the broiled grapefruit. Both were outstanding, and, once again, a nice departure from my normal breakfast choices. Kid ordered the waffle breakfast, and the server suggested for her their specialty hot chocolate, which she was thrilled with. Overall, we all ended up full and happy with the feeling that we had tried something new and been rewarded for it. It wasn’t an extraordinary breakfast experience, but it was a good one: very tasty food, different options, wonderful service, great coffee. I will definitely eat here again when I am in the area.
