Nice campground on Lake Huron. We loved the size of our site and the proximity to the lake. Very clean and the bathrooms were very clean, always stocked with toilet paper. Will be back!

We went to the day park area. Great place to hit the beach. Shelter near the beach with grills. Just bring meat, charcoal and a lighter. The shelter has bathroom/changing rooms.

This park, just two hours from metro Detroit, is right on Lake Huron. We’ve been up here a number of times to canoe, hike and explore the dunes. The Dunes Nature Hike is a nicely accessible(barrier-free) trail with interpretive stations, and you can get of onto the beachside boardwalk or one of the longer hiking/cross-country ski trails from this loop. The Pinnebog River is nice for flat-water canoeing, too. The park is where the lumber and salt company town of Port Crescent stood in the mid-1800s. The town disappeared after a fire destroyed the surrounding timber in 1881, forcing the mills to close. You can still find a few traces of the town(like an old iron bridge and part of a mill chimney) within the park. There is also an old cemetery for the town a few miles from the park(where we went geocaching).

Good facilities here for camping on the water and watching a Lake Huron sunrise. The park has dunes and miles of clean beach. So different than the Lake Michigan side. Private, quiet, and peaceful. And it’s kinda cool thinking you are at the tip of the thumb watching out in the abyss. Got some cool smooth rocks for my collection too.
