Every time I try to shop here I find employees eating. Very off-putting.Can they not wait until their lunch break? if you want to smell food you can go next door to Petunia’s.

Horrible customer service. I read a review on perfume that can be purchased by them. I looked under website for return policy Nothing was mentioned on perfume so I thought I was safe. Well perfume was too strong and I couldn’t use it. It was 100.00. I explained my situation and all I got was the website says no returns on perfume and basically have a good day. I explained that I couldn’t find in on the webiste. No other rememdy or sympathy.

The store itself and the merchandise are beautifully designed; however, the customer service was absolutely awful. I’ve been commissioned to help decorate the interior of a beautiful 4,000 sqft Historical Dutch Colonial home built in 1910 in Forest Grove with an ADU of 1,500 sqft in the back with a budget of $ 130,000. I came across the store unexpectedly on my way to grab lunch after a workout and was delighted to see such beautiful items. After browsing for a minute, I asked him if he had an order form I could write some items down. He said no and handed me a sticky note and pen to write them down instead. As I started writing the information on the tags, I asked several questions(that he responded poorly too) about bulk discounts and other typical questions a buyer asks before making a very large purchase. I also took photos of some of the items I was going to purchase so I could make sure it was the color and style right for the owners. After 5 minutes or so, the guy behind the counter told me that I was making him uncomfortable writing things down and taking pictures of the items I was going to later purchase and told me to stop. I was completely shocked that he would say something like that to a customer and he made it very awkward afterwards. After that comment, I decided I didn’t want to do business with this company and I decided to leave. I planned on spending about $ 13,000 to do the bedding and kitchen items alone. Due to the guy’s unprofessional attitude, it cost the store$ 10 – 15,000 in sales. Ironically, Sur La Table down the street a few hours prior let me walk around the store, move items, place them on the floor(they even gave me my own little space) trying to get the desired look I wanted to accomplish and I ended up spending $ 8,700 right then and there when I was done. That’s how employees are suppose to treat potential buyers and unfortunately this guy ruined potential income for the store.

Very poor customer service. I walked in with a coffee that I had just finished. They have a sign on their door asking to leave food and drinks at a table up front(understandable) but I asked if they had a garbage I could throw my cup in. The associate at the register tried to help, while another associate(who was on the phone) rudely said«there’s a garbage on the corner of the street», then snidely commented to whomever she was on the phone with, «some customer is looking for a trash can». Okay then.

I love Alder &Co It is EXCEPTIONALLY expensive. BUT, everything here is unique and very good quality. If you prefer fewer, better things… shop here.

I walked in at 11 am as the sign says hours from 11am — 6pm. As I walked in with my partner, we were told to come back in a few minutes. Doesn’t your sign say you open at 11am? It’s sad that alder & co live up to the rumors of having bad customer service and being unprofessional. I was hoping to be proven wrong. I guess my partner and I will be doing business else where.

How does this shop have so few reviews? This place was crazy to visit, everything seems very well chosen from perfume to candles to clothes to incense to notebooks to jewelry to bags to endless odd bits and pieces, you name it. I just turned my brain off and let myself be enchanted with everything. I’m kicking myself for having never visited(or even known about this place until now). I couldn’t stop smelling the candles. it should be noted that this isn’t exactly a thrifty kind of shop but everything they carry oozes artisan craftsmanship and quality. Some boutiques in town seem to be full of. well. filler, but this is the kind of place where every second you see something new that grabs your attention. Will definitely head back to pick up some of the candles.

There was a time that Alder & co was my go to for cool original gifts but unfortunately they are either paying too much for rent or think they’re something special. I’ve continued to go back for at least 5X to their new location and just appalled by the prices. Really sad to see a good shop become exclusive to the very rich!!!

Great niche perfumer based in Portland. Creating unique & unusual cologne for men and women. My favorite at the moment by Slumberhouse is Rume. A warm spice scent. Great for winter
