Absolutely delicious! I loved the intimate dining and ambience of this authentic Italian restaurant(there was even a sweet Italian waitress, who was very sweet and remembered us from our previous visit). I felt like I was back in Europe. I would recommend making reservations, even on week nights this place fills every table and there isn’t a place to wait, I suppose in the spring and summer you could wait outside, but I have only been in the winter each time we got lucky with the next available table but waited in our car for 20 minutes one time and somewhere between 30 – 40 minutes the other. We knew each time that we should have had reservations but we’re hoping for the best and we were willing to wait. Defiantly smart to call though, the second time we left them our number and they called us when our table was ready, but we were fortunate to get a parking spot right in front so we saw as well. I want to add, I have cancer and my mobility is pretty horrible at the moment and they recognized that and ask if the chair was going to be okay, if there was something they could do and then helped me with the door when I was struggling. Also, my stomach has been very sensitive and eating out can be a challenge, I need to watch what I eat carefully and fresh high quality ingredients are a must, Ristorante Roma m delivered just that. So service was excellent, and the food, divine! The complementary bread was very fresh with balsamic vinaigrette, then I ordered a side house salad to start it was simple and perfect just what I was craving, it had mixed greens with arugula and fennel cherry tomatoes and a nice balsamic vinaigrette dressing. As a main dish I ordered tucine ai Frrutti di Mare Fresh fettucine, it came with fresh clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari, tomato, garlic and parsley. The seafood was cooked to perfection. For dessert I had the chocolate tartufo which had been a favorite childhood dessert that I hadn’t seen on a menu for years and trilled to find it again! Bringing up my sensitive stomach again, seafood is usually something I have had to avoid but I was craving this type of meal, the ingredients were very fresh and absolutely not«fishy» at all. My mother accompanied me each time, she started with a different salad that we have since mimicked. I couldn’t find the salad on their website but it was a different kind of salad, with no mixed greens but there was arugula, fennel and I think the main ingredient was an orange, and the dressing was very good, we saw it on someone else’s table first, looked so good we had to try it! She ordered the gnocchi, perfect pillows in a parmigiano, Gorgonzola, Mozzarella and Pecorino cream sauce. The second time going I ordered the same thing and then I was with two others, we tried the minestrone soup, Fettucine Bolognese, and Funghi e Salciccia which is Fresh Pappardelle with mushrooms and sausage in a creamy tomato sauce. Also, on the menu the pasta I ordered(the fettucine with the shrimp, clams…) was actually originally written that it came with a different pasta but I asked if I could change it to fettucine, the first time I ordered it I had it change to the pappardelle pasta. So when they can, they are accommodating. So all in all I highly recommend them, you won’t be disappointed.

Best pasta ever. We came here twice on our visit to Portland because it was that good. Tried the pappardelle fungi, spaghetti and meatballs and the ravioli bolognese. Pasta was cooked to perfection, meat was delicious and so moist and the sauce was amazing. Going to definitely miss this place!

I was staying at the Westin a few blocks away for work and did a quick Unilocal search for nearby dinner options. I love Italian and the reviews and pictures looked great so decided to give it a try. First impression, it’s on a quiet street across for a church– super quaint and clean. The person I was initially greeted by wasn’t very kind, however my waitress made up for it. I had the special, grilled mahi mahi with lobster risotto. While the roasted vegetables were great and the fish was moist– it wasn’t very well seasoned and the risotto didn’t appear to have any lobster or even lobster flavoring. They didn’t have the wine I requested but the waitress made a nice recommendation. I had the tiramisu to try to make up for the main course which was the best decision of the meal. The cream was the perfect consistency. It was the best tiramisu I’ve ever had(granted I’ve never been to Italy, but am a patron of Little Italy in New York – arguable the best Little Italy in the country). So all in all, I’ve giving it 3 stars.

Friends and I were on a girls trip and one of our ladies was craving good Italian. After perusing Unilocal we decided on Ristorante Roma. It was around 7PM on a Saturday night. Note — I would recommend calling ahead. This is a small restaurant and they do a good business. They were able to fit us in as a large party of 10 was a no show. They seated our party of four and quickly filled the other empty seats as well. They started us out with marvelous, crusty bread and olive oil. We all tried different things and we were so pleased with the service and the food. The staff were without a fault polite and on top of everything we needed. The food was authentic, delicious, and fresh. The meatballs so tender. The Arrabiata sauce perfectly spicy. We asked to see dessert menus not expecting to order… and got the Coconut sorbet, the Lemon sorbet and an order of Tirramisu to share. It was all delicious. Highly recommend — and our party of four with beverages(not alcoholic), four dinners and three desserts was right at $ 20 per person. Amazing. Will go back when we are in Portland again. We were not rushed and never waited for anything, however next time we will call ahead… just to make sure we can get in.

Hungry for excellent Italian? This is where you want to eat! Here’s why… Bread and balsamic/evoo table service. Bread is from Grand Central! Evoo is from Italy! The soup and salad were exceptional! My main course was a broccoli penné. Flavourfull with fresh ingredients. A lot of Italian places cheap out with extra butter and cover up canned taste with an overdose of garlic. Not here! You get fresh food with fresh herbs and spices. When we want authentic Italian with Portland foodie expectations, we’ll be eating here!

First thing’s first, the food was great! However, the wait(even with a reservation) was extensively long. The service was mediocre, probably because there were only a couple waiters and they were busy. The actual restaurant is very small(only one small room) and felt extremely crowded. The portions were also small. Overall, I would only go back to Ristorante Roma if they weren’t busy and had the time to create the appropriate experience.

Dinner tonight was a pleasant surprise! Homemade paperdelle noodles in arrabiatta sauce with fresh scratch made meatballs! And, my fiancée ate the crab ravioli with lobster cream sauce. Wonderful! I thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The pricing is lower than the food is worth. The vibe is nice and comfortable. For a relaxed evening of excellent food, I would strongly recommend. The orange slices salad was okay. It tasted as I would expect it to, but it was an interesting combination of flavor. The Chianti was also just okay. But, the food is always my top priority. Amazing. Thank you.

I cannot say enough good things about Ristorante Roma. My family visited Portland a few months back, and Ristorante Roma was able to accommodate our party of 9 without any problems or fuss. The service was great. One of the servers even spoke Italian. My family loves brushing up on their Italian everyone once in a while. :) The reason you should go here is for the food though. OMG it so good and authentic. Everyone loved their dishes, and my parents are hard to please. They also had vegetarian options of course. Their Gnocchi Bolongese tastes just like it does in Italy. Their Fantasia di Mare was amazing too. I have had many seafood salads in the states that just fail. This is the real deal. I am dreaming up reasons to come back to Portland so I can eat here again. Ristorante Roma is better than any Seattle Italian restaurant I have tried. My mouth is watering just thinking of it. P. S. The ambience is fine. It is not something to write home about, but the service and food more than makes up for it. They also accommodated my one year old nephew who had a great time. They made a little side dish of plain pasta just for him. The bathroom is a little small, which made diaper changes a little tough.

We walked here from Al-Amir because I heard that they had great tiramisu. We didn’t know they were about to close, but they welcomed us in and were happy to serve dessert to us. I ordered a decaf latte and my boyfriend an espresso. We split the tiramisu. My boyfriend knows good tiramisu. and he thought it was just ok. I thought that they would way way way too much cocoa on the top. I know know why most places just lightly dust it, because otherwise it tastes dry when you take a bite. It was yummy otherwise. Also, I appreciated the decaf latte, but it was lukewarm, which was kind of a bummer. Anyhow, we appreciate them being kind to us even though they were after closing hours. We didn’t eat dinner there so can’t rate that really.

I came across this restaurant on Unilocal. They were accommodating to our party of 5 and they seated us super quick with no wait. We got a basket of bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. So good that we finished 2 baskets of it. Their pasta is super fresh, I don’t think you can go wrong with anything you pick here. I got the spaghetti and meatball and it was one of the best I’ve eaten in my life. Shaved parmesan on top was super fresh and the portions are perfect. The pappardelle looked amazing as well.

We dined here based on a recommendation from our hotel concierge at the Nines. Great food and good service. The salads were delightful and the main courses were authentic and fresh. The restaurant itself is quite small and understated. The food quality is worth the ambiance trade off.

Extremely enjoyable experience :) alliteration right there. A nice, quaint authentic Italian restaurant, a great menu selection with a variety of courses. The restaurant had a really relaxing feel to it which I loved, I didn’t feel rushed or pressured to quickly eat and get out. Reasonable prices! The complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar is yummy, although I wish the bread was served warm. I shared the pappardelle mare e monti with my friend, they gladly spit the order in the back for us which was so nice. Generous serving of fresh clams, mussels, and shrimp. I could tell the pasta was fresh, so delicious with a hint of spice. I only wished my half portion had more: p I would gladly return! This has now become my go-to Italian restaurant in Portland.

Where to begin? Ristorante Roma is tucked innocuously into a stretch of 12th street just south of Alder. Despite staying just around the corner, I’d have completely missed this amazing restaurant without the benefit of Unilocal. Due to the ever-present need to accommodate Leo, the anxiety-ravaged terrier, I ordered takeout – but with our apartment less than two blocks away I was able to eat the meal while it was still properly hot. Down to brass tacks: Caprese Salad(excellent summer tomatoes with a mild but tasty mozzarella). Fettuccine ai Funghi Porcini(perfectly al dente house-made fettuccine with light but flavorful sauce and earthy and delicious porcini mushrooms). Pappardelle Funghi e Salciccia(fantastic pasta, cooked to perfection, with a thick but not overpowering sauce. Really enjoyed this). Filetto ai Funghi Porcini(rounding out a fungus-themed meal, this was the highlight. Medium rare means different things to different folks, but to Ristorante Roma it means«freaking perfect.» This filet mignon is served with porcini mushrooms in a Cognac reduction, and it was perhaps the best cut of meat I’ve ever had. The thing could have been cut with a fork if I’d wanted to). Worst part of meal: as a takeout order on one of Portland’s rare 100 degree days, I didn’t dare order the Tartufo. Surely my loss, and I’m coming for you, Tartufo, just you wait. My bottom line: You know you are eating a special meal when you start taking smaller bites midway through because you fear prematurely ending the experience. That was me with Ristorante Roma. Hell, even the bread(generous portions offered up without the need to ask) was worthy of 5 stars. Don’t be dumb, eat here.

This was one of the best Italian restaurants we have ever had the pleasure of dining at. From the pappardelle mare e monti to the chocolate gelato tartufo, the food was beyond exquisite. The ambience was wonderful, and the service was attentive without being stuffy. If you are ever in Portland, it is an absolute«must». One note: On Unilocal, the closing time is shown as 10:30… When we went on a Saturday in July, they closed at 9:30. It would be a shame to miss out on this deliciousness by showing up too late.

FANTASTICO! My wife & I had a fabulous lunch here. We started with the Antipasto Italiano and followed with the Rigatoni Funghi Salsiccia(Sausage) and the Spaghetti con Polpette(meatballs). Everything was just perfectly prepared and presented. The pasta was properly al dente. Not only the food, but I think the ambiance and service are a full five stars. I wish we lived around the corner from this place.

On my trip to portland, this was my favorite place that I ate at! Good service, quaint atmosphere and excellent food. We ordered a caprese salad, spaghetti de fruiti a mare, and a filet. They used good quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the caprese. The spaghetti was spot on. The perfect amount of garlic, tomato and oil. And the seafood and home-made pasta was excellent– cooked perfectly. And the filet was a great way finish to the meal! Truly delicious. We almost went here twice during our weekend trip we enjoyed it so much.

What a cute little Italian place with excellent service, solid Italian food and generous portions of seafood. I can’t even begin to express how delicious their crab and lobster ravioli is. It has such a flavorful, hearty cream sauce, with little chunks of fresh crab and lobster. Their Zupetto is completely filled with mussels, class, salmon, prawns and calamari in a flavorful, garlicky broth. Most Italian places give you like 2 mussels and a couple class and slap on a hefty price tag. Not here. Their dessert looked delicious but we didn’t have anymore room. Til next time!
