CCs… Where do I begin? My ‘out of the way but go-to bar’. First off, I’d like to honor the staff. Bartenders, Barbacks, security, DJs, queens and entertainers, and of course management. Your hard work makes this place my favorite in town. The drinks are a bang for the buck, the environment is incredibly friendly and the crowds are often entertaining. You allow people’s of all genders, identities, orientations, and styles to feel safe and welcome. That is rare. I highly recommend this place.

This was the second time I have been here. The first time I was with my groups, Oregon Bears”. I live in Boise or I would visit more often. The first time it was a lot of fun… lots of bears and their admirers. There are two parts to the club– a dance club and one side is more of a lounge. The walkway between has Oregon Lottery. Overall, I’ve had fun and I ran into someone I knew from my past, many miles from home. I step out out my cab and bam she was there!

There was a group of us visiting Portland for the first time and the bouncers/security kept asking the majority of us at diff times«how much we’ve had to drink» it was a little annoying. Unless we’re bumping into everyone, sleeping, spilling, you should prob leave the group that’s having a great time alone. Specially when your bar is completely dead…

I’ve been to CC’s several times, most recently for NYE a couple nights ago, and have had a great time, every time. My friend and I were looking for someplace that wouldn’t break the bank to bring in the new year. I’ve lived in some large cities(Washington DC, Dublin, Hong Kong, Beijing, etc), but Portland has been, surprisingly, the most difficult city to find an affordable and fun party location for NYE. We checked out a few of the events on offer in the city online, but the choices were either spend $ 100 or pay $ 25 – 40 and listen to slow-ass, boring music all night long. Thank goodness for CC’s! All the decorations(and employees) were over-the-top FABULOUS and amazing in honor of 2016. All the bartenders wore shiny boy shorts on the bottom and up top were either covered in rhinestones or painted in glitter. There were even go-go dancers, which were very popular with the crowd. The music was awesome and upbeat(could’ve played a few more songs from 2015, but whatev’s, as long as it’s Top 40, I’m happy!) and I liked being in a place where I could tell everyone was there to have fun, not just to participate in some sort of unspoken meat market. I’m a straight female, so maybe my perspective is different, but I felt really safe at this bar. Several people came up and joined our dance circle throughout the night, but it was never in a pushy or imposing way, just a quick, «Hey, how’s it goin’?» and then they’d flit off to socialize with another group. CC’s is definitely my go-to for a good time in PDX, and I’m really glad they didn’t fail me for NYE!

CC Slaughters is the busiest club downtown. Thursday nights, walk around Old Town and China Town, quiet isn’t it? Wondering where everyone is? Stroll on over to NW Davis and 3rd and you’ll find the party. Why Slaughters? Several reasons; a professional, accommodating staff lead by an amazing manager who knows how to build a solid team; great drink specials, Slot machines inside and massive dance floor! Slaughters is known as one of Portland’s largest, loudest, and most high-tech, with serious light effects and laser shows. Adjoining lounge is drenched in flattering red lights, all the better for closing the deal. The crowd is hit or miss but no matter what you will definitely have a great time! Madame Demore was my bartender for the night and she was amazing! I got a free drink on the house after letting her know I was visiting from California! THANKYOU Madame Demore! Everyone at the bar was truly friendly. I played some slot machines although I didn’t win… BOO! Drinks were off the chain! Whoot Whoot! If I lived here this would definitely be my Friday night hot spot! **Open 3pm-2am seven days a week. ** Prices during Happy Hour are INCREDIBLE! C.C. I used to live in Portland 5 years ago, and this place was an institution to visit. I was in town for a conference and wanted to show people what a great Portland dance club could be. We were refused service for soda. We were just sober vets looking for a good gay dance party and were denied. Not sure what they’re trying to do but I’m certainly not bringing visitors here again. Like, ever.

Every time I’ve come here I’ve been greeted with exceptionally rude service from the bouncers and bartenders. I’m very sympathetic to how taxing that job must be, dealing with drunks all night long. But that doesn’t mean you have to be rude to everyone. It’s unfortunate that a club that has the potential to be fun has to employ such rude staff.

I’ll probably never come here again. I came for the first time ever tonight and was having a good time until I was waiting at the front of the line at the bar and the bartender served 20 minutes worth of men who kept coming up and standing next to me but never served me. I came here because it’s supposed to be good vibes and a good time with non judgmental people. Literally stood there for 20 minutes to order, and kept waiting and waiting. Finally, I got a little agitated and made a comment to my friend. The bar tender over heard and said I only have two hands! I said I understand but I’ve been waiting a LONG time and you have served a lot of people who got here after me. He let me wait another five minutes and then when he stood in front of me like he was finally ready to take my order I said I’ll take a rum and coke and he said rudely, Oh no, YOU can go to someone else, and asked for the order of the guys behind me. NEVERAGAIN (I want to add that I’m super bummed because I was starting to think this is the best gay bar in town. The people were alright, only a couple people gave me an off vibe but its a big enough place you can easily go somewhere else in the club and not deal with them. There are places to sit and socialize, cheap but strong drinks, a dance floor section and a more bar like section so I’m very disappointed by the jackass that made me never want to return. I’ve never had someone be so unnecessarily rude to me, and my usual club scene is Wilton Manors in Ft. Lauderdale Florida so I’ve dealt with it all.)

I’ve decided to give this place two stars even though, and let me make it very clear, I had a one star experience. We got there, paid a $ 5 cover, and went straight for the bathroom as CC’s wasn’t our first stop of the night. I had consumed one drink and my friend had two or three, but neither of us were drunk. As we made our way to the bathrooms(gender neutral, another cool feature and reason for the second star), my friend was getting a little intimidated. So he followed me into the bathroom stall, not stopping to read the obvious sign that two people to a stall was not allowed. Totally understandable. Someone knocked on the door as I was trying to get him to wait outside, and not-so-nicely reminded him of the rules. He left the stall, I did my business, and thought little of it. When I came out of the bathroom, my friend was gone. I went to wash my hands and then to look for him. I was left alone in an extremely crowded bar without any idea where he’d gone. I was eventually grabbed on the shoulder by a security guard, after looking for him, who insisted that I had«lost my privileges». As I tried to ask her what the problem was, she kept telling me that I was too drunk and it was obvious that we couldn’t be trusted to follow rules and blah blah blah. When I stopped and explained myself to her, she seemed to understand the mistake. She admitted that I did not appear drunk and seemed to understand the mistake. Because that’s literally all this was. A mistake that was quickly remedied, I might add. She radioed her boss, or so she said, and then let me know that while I was sober my friend wasn’t and we were both banned for the night — me «by association». Might I add that this conversation occurred in front of a line of a ton of people. When asked if we could move it elsewhere or lower the volume, as we were being lectured like children, we were told that they were making an example out of us. For an environment that appears so inclusive, my experience here was so far the other way. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to write this review, but after reading others I see that I’m not the first one to have this problem. CC’s, take note of the fact that the people who work for you are unprofessional and aggressive. I felt incredibly unsafe being shamed in front of dozens of people for a mistake that was quickly corrected.

This place was really fun to go to for a Saturday night club-run. The drinks were great, and the bartender who was my go-to was really friendly and chill. The music was fun, not the best mix-wise but definitely enjoyable. The place was clean and not overpriced(even the coat-check). Overall I had a great time! Room for improvement, but other than what they’ve got going on would be icing on the cake. Patrons and customers were open and friendly! I did not have a negative experience here at all.

What i you say? This is hands down Portland’s best gay spot to dance. I packs out on the weekends. Also Sunday evenings it is Portland’s best spot to see drag queens perform when it hosts«Diva’s» which is very fun.

Have been here a few times on my visit to Portland. Back in the 90’s, when this joint was in the SW, I never went, but I’m glad to see its survived and have had fun talking to different folks. Good, stiff drinks, friendly bartenders, what’s not to enjoy in a gaycentric atmosphere? While I wish one of the all women clubs was still open, I’m thrilled to see other options still exist.

For a night of dancing, CC Slaughter’s is where we ended up. The crowd seemed fun, but the fun I usually have when I go dancing just was not to be had that night. I put the blame on the music. I am not sure if we just went on an off Saturday night, but the DJ would play a song or two that were very danceable and then would follow them up with lame songs. So really the momentum for fun just never took off. If they would only improve their music, I am sure I would be rating them way higher than 3 stars.

I’m apprehensive to give this any less than 3 stars because I don’t want to come across as a bitter old queen. But yeah… this isn’t my favorite place. Not by a long shot. So, I’m getting older(thus the ‘bitter old queen’ concern), and I can’t go to CC Slaughters without considering how easily annoyed I am with the young and shrieking. This place is just packed to the gills with super-super-super young gay boys and the girls that beg to join them. That right here are two demographics that I do NOT appreciate in my nightlife experience. The TVs are… strange. It’s like they show porn with all the nudity cut out. Oh, and underwear commercials. Lots of underwear commercials. Not bad, but… strange. Drinks are super cheap and generally strong, but it can take a while to get one. The music is what one would expect, though I have to say that I have never been a fan of a whole dance floor of marys singing along off-key to Lady Gaga’s greatest hits. Reading back through this review, I think it’s safe to say that my bitter old queen metamorphosis is complete. It’s also safe to say that I am decidedly not CC Slaughter’s target demographic. You might love it. But I don’t.

I go to this place all of the time. I’ve never had a bad experience. The bartenders and other employees are super nice and I never have had issues. The music is always pretty awesome. They keep the bathrooms cleaner than most and everything is kept up nicely.(People spilling drinks and breaking glass is cleaned immediately) Definitely take your friends here on Thursdays and Fridays. It’s a great time :)

C C Slaughters had some awesome décor for Halloween! There was so much to look at while you’re nursing your drink or dancing with a hot person. Slaughters had a decent number of seating. The restrooms were interesting. The dance floor was decent. The bartenders were awesome and prompt with service. Wanna memorialize your visit there? You can it taken in the photo booth they have there. There’s a cigarette machine and video arcades in a small room connecting to bar to a neighboring restaurant. My fiancé won over $ 200 there at least three times! Now, he was having a blast. Slaughters has something else that I’ve only seen once elsewhere in the boonies in Maryland. There is a large text screen. If you see someone you like but are too shy to meet up, you can send an anonymous text to the screen and your message will appear for everyone to see. Oh man, my friends and I had a blast with that! An awesome place for an awesome gay time! And…it’s mere steps from the lightrail!
