I ordered several collars and belly bands and am SO pleased! The quality and selection is fabulous! And as a person with a huge collar fetish(5 dogs with ever changing wardrobes) I’ll definitely be ordering more. As an added bonus, when I asked if I could get my belly bands faster, they were here within 3 days at no extra charge! This shop rocks!

When the weather outside is frightful, but walking your dog is so delightful, sometimes a little shopping is in order when the warm days of summer transition to the chilly days of fall. If you have a dog that needs to be out and about, but isn’t a fan of Portland’s chilly weather, Doodlebug Duds is fantastic. I was never one of ‘those people’ that dressed up their dog for every occasion, but that was when I had an all-weather dog. Our lab mix was completely oblivious to the change of seasons. If anything, she was energized by the crisp fall weather. Our current pup is a different story with her short hair and, well, she is a bit of a princess. She loves walks at sunrise and sunset, but the poor thing started to shiver once the temperature started dipping. Rather than be eager to head out the door, she would just curl up by the fire with a ‘don’t make me go’ look. I’ve been casually browsing at Doodlebug Dud’s booth at the Portland Saturday Market for years, but finally made my first purchase recently. We chose a ridiculously cute ‘water-resistant dog coat’ with reflective stripes. It is definitely fashionable and functional. They have nine colors and ten sizes(from XSmall for dogs under 3 lbs. to XXLarge for dogs 100+ lbs.) to choose from. Many options are on hand at the market booth, but you can also order on-line( ). They did a wonderful job fitting our dog and offering suggestions. Because the coats fastens by Velcro across the chest and under the stomach, it is something your dog can grow into over time. Before purchasing here, I looked at similar options offered by local big box and small retail stores. The prices here were very good and I liked that everything is made locally by a mother and daughter team. My next purchase will likely be one of the ‘Fashionable Fleece Dog Coats’, but I can assure you I will never, ever, purchase a Doodlebuggy( ). I am so not a little dog person. Customer service in person was great. I actually asked to see some more options for the fleece coat and am still waiting to get the information almost a week later. I always think a delay of this sort is a bit odd when you have a customer ready to spend more money. But, it is a small business and people get busy. This does cause my rating of the business to drop a star. The booth is located between Naito Parkway and Skidmore Fountain, not in the main section by the river. There is another dog store next to them, so make sure you are checking out the right booth. If visiting in person isn’t convenient, you can also order through their website. You have the option of choosing one of the sizes or sending them your dog’s measurements and they’ll customize something just for you. I really love the product and look forward to many walks on cold, rainy days, with my little lady. — — — — — A little tip: They do accept credit cards on-site.
