Terribly unprofessional management team. DONOTRENTFROMTHEM. Where do I even begin? They don’t have a terribly«classy» assortment of apartments to begin with, but we were beginning to experience a time crunch and was approved for an apartment at Kinneman Square apartments. So we took it. Oops. The real estate agent who showed up to sign papers with us and show us the place was extremely unprofessional. He came up the road«bumping» his music loudly in a car that looked like it was from the junkyard. He had tattoos, which is normally not a big deal, but the kind of tattoos that he had indicated that he either currently is or was in a gang. Questionable, but I can overlook someone’s past. He was wearing a «scarface» t-shirt, and proceeded to make jokes about snorting cocaine. We’d never encountered a «real estate agent» like this before, but like I said, we were in a time crunch and needed something, so we moved on. Our first few days at this apartment were a nightmare. The apartment had not been cleaned, ATALL, it was filthy dirty from bottom to top. It was superficially clean for a walk through, but if you looked at the ceiling it was covered in cobwebs, open the drawers and they had food and even some dishes left from the previous tenant. The blinds were covered in dirt and their was mold growing on the windows. The upstairs bathtub was leaking from the ceiling to the downstairs kitchen, and they made us wait four days without the ability to shower to come and fix it. None of the lightbulbs worked in the whole place either pretty much, we had to replace them all, and the toilet ran and the bathroom was missing the ceiling fan cover and the fridge door was broken and the dishwasher wasn’t working… I could keep going, but I won’t. After about two months of nagging, they finally fixed some of those problems, however, it shouldn’t have taken that long. They have no on-site manager, which no one told us about, so you have to either mail a payment to Portland or drive your payment all the way from Aloha to Portland, and they make this suggestion to you with a straight face! The first few times, we drove out to them, because they made a big deal about penalties if your rent was late and we were afraid to mail it. Obviously, this company was all about money. What we saw at «headquarters» was absolutely appalling. The girl who answers the phone there, the secretary, was extremely rude, and was wearing clothes that look more appropriate for a night of drinking at a bar than a professional office. The real estate agent in the office who talked to us about repairs, later«claimed» she lost our maintenance requests we gave her. There were LONG wait times to get anybody to help, because they were too busy talking about what they did last night to help anybody. Our neighbors, the ones who actually talked to us, were all very bizarre with few exceptions. There were a couple of tenants who wanted to be thought of as «important» there, who would make up stuff about you if you fell on their bad side. This is what happened to us. Ordinarily, it doesn’t matter much that someone reports you to management, because they have an on-site manager who is able to «in some cases» sort out the truth from the lies. In this case though, if ANYONE reported you to management, the management team just believed it and held it against you. In our case, because we didn’t get along with two liars in the complex who told management everything, management decided not to renew our lease. It was very strange. They never investigated anything to see if it was true or not(which it wasn’t). There was one maintenance guy was a complete jerk every time he came, and we believe he stole things from our apartment. When we tried to talk to the balding, not very powerful person in charge of our complex about the decision not to renew our lease, he was rude, blathered about legal rights(ignoring his ethical duties of course) and didn’t handle the problem at all. We also are considering legal issues with JPM, which I will not go into here. OVERALL: DONOTRENTFROMJPM!!!
