the Ohm used to be Portland’s best underground electronic dance club, with swanky surroundings, intelligent servers, and high-level djs. this town needs a new club like ohm used to be, dedicated to world-class electronic rave-style dance partying.

The Ohm is a cool place in general. They have had some really kick ass shows and ridiculously mind blowing poetry readings(which I was pessimistic about at first). It does have it’s boring nights(as most places do) but for the most part it’s a great hang out. I have to admit though I feel sometimes like this place has never grown out of the whole rave scene, who still listens to drum and bass???

I have seen a couple amazing shows here over the years and it was always a staple for the fringes of electronic music(really how many places have drum and bass nights?)…but I would have to agree on your normal average non show weekend it turns into just another suburbanite standing room only club.

This place is awesome on Harlem Night Thursdays when they have a great band,(think the Roots but instrumental only) guest poets,(they range from good to really bad depending on the week) and excellent atmosphere. I generally avoid this area like the plague during the weekends. I have heard that on Fridays and Saturdays the O’G’s and glitter covered pornstars come out of their beaverton holes to a standing room only club. So Thursdays is the night to experience a nice club that would otherwise be jam packed with drama.
