This place is dead don’t waste your money. And she prices of become inflated and way too expensive for the empty venue and overpriced drinks you find inside.

Was here this past Saturday night, and I dunno what it was about this place exactly that kind of put me off… The bartenders weren’t the friendliest, there were some creepy dudes that just sat around and didn’t seem to interact with anyone, and someone who I think was on their security was really odd too. He kept coming in and out of an employee section, and just behaving oddly. Looking around all weird, like he was bored and just trying to find something to do with himself, so he kept moving A LOT. He wasn’t even near the main dance floor area, so I’m not sure what he was doing. I paid a $ 5 cover to be there for a single drink then my friends and I left. I didn’t even remember the music. What I do remember is not wanting to dance to it, even though I looove to dance when I’m out. I can’t put my finger on what exactly was off about this place! Sorry, Whiskey): Maybe with a different crowd, I would have enjoyed it better. The security just seemed off and I’m reading some horror stories on Whiskey’s Unilocal… Come on management and owners, where are you at!

I used to come here quite a bit but shits gone way down hill. I’d be desperate if I stepped foot in this place. Can’t even read Thai Passports when we’ve been using it for the past year and multiple clubs/bars let us through using it during this time period. A temporary passport during renewal period is the same as a temporary drivers license/ID. Lawls. How the fuck do you think my friends even came to the US if their passports were fake… Get better security Dan was the best, fuck the new guys. No wonder your sponsors left your ass. Always smells like puke/piss/shit.

Cool place. Not a huge crowd the night I went, which I liked. They have a nice outdoor«smoking» area. The cover was reasonable on a Friday, the only thing was the music wasn’t amazing. I love techno but eventually it all starts to sound the same.

Watched as the bouncer physically assaulted another person who did absolutely nothing to deserve it… I watched as he grabbed the persons beer, threw it on another person and screamed in the guys ear… This is s video someone took after the incident and I feel like I should post this is hopes that the guy is somehow held accountable for what he did!

Bring CASH! Do not trust the bartenders with an open tab! I went during their trance night with a girlfriend for the dj’s and the drink specials($ 2 drinks). We started a tab and ordered 4 drinks total. When we closed the tab, we were astonished to find our tab quadrupled in price with drinks that we had not ordered. When addressing this problem with the male bartender attending us(wore glasses, around 6′, average body type), he refused to acknowledge anything my female companion said and looked at us as if we were stupid. I spoke in a calm manner, did not make a scene and was not drunk. In order to avoid conflict, we signed and walked away. Very rude and unprofessional. Will not be returning.

The night I went there they had this great DJ who really was a great DJ. I am not one who dances often but this DJ made me want to dance for sure. I went there to meet a friend and I wish I remember the DJ’s name that was there that night, but he is totally cool. I also went another time after that and they had great music again! I would go again. Their bar is waaay too crowded though, and they need to have more people on busy nights. I can’t be bothered and wait long for drinks, even though I don’t drink alcohol but a sista’s gotta get dehydrated before she gets a drink. The music though make everything else alright!

$ 5 cover to see some groovy-ass deep house on a Saturday night, yes and thank you. The club has plenty of space to dance/jump around and most of the people there seemed to enjoy the music. The downsides are what should be expected from these types of places: sticky floors and nasty bathrooms. If you can perhaps dismount from your lofty steed and get down with the plebs, you’ll realize how awesome this place is. Excited to see more shows here in the future.

The artist I saw was amazing, lights were good, sound was good, but the rest was just awful. Small place, with a small dance floor(that was sticky btw) that people are constantly cutting through because it’s between the bar and the bathroom. That’s to be expected, but it just happened a LOT more than I’ve experienced at other shows. Hard to breath on the dance floor, gets really stuffy fast, and the bathrooms were so awful! I went to go in, and the main entrances to mens and woman’s have NODOORS, then you better bring a friend because the STALLSDONTLATCH. It was so nasty I didn’t even try. The toilet was so gross I couldn’t bring myself to use it. I don’t understand how this is acceptable? I’ve been in plenty of divey places but I could never be drunk enough to use that particular bathroom, I would probably end up peeing outside. Also, why do you schedule a artist right up until you close? Nothing is worse than one of your favorite artists being in the middle of a song and then it cuts off and you get kicked out. I just really felt like the customers were being more put up with than serviced. It’s like they don’t want you to come back, or just don’t care if you do because they always get really great artists there and know that people will pay to see the artist wherever they play. Also, they don’t have a coat check. We were told we could«come back if you wanna go put stuff in your car» –This isn’t really the kind of place people are in the headspace to be driving from. Dance clubs/venues(especially ones that get so stuffy) should have coat checks. Just sayin’.

Piss piss pee pee piss piss is all you will think about when walking in here because that is all you will smell. Other than the heavy odor that you will eventually get used to after having enough drinks, you will have a better time jumping and dancing to the edm in their quite spacious dance area. Overall the structure of the place is pretty simple, two bars(good luck getting drinks at either), one main dance floor, bathrooms at the very side of the dance floor, and an outdoor smoking area. I liked how there were quite a few areas to sit to take a break from the dancing. The floors indoor gets sticky and wet pretty quickly as the night progresses, so ladies with heels should walk with caution. The dress code here seems to be whatever the fuck you’d like, as is the crowd. I’ve seen people wear club dresses and heels, and others wear chucks and shorts. People were all generally very happy and friendly. The ladies bathroom have no locks and can get very stuffy and disgusting. Drinks are inconsistent as the bartenders pour uneven amounts making the same drinks, but that’s okay since that means the lucky ones get a little more. Overall, not a horrible establishment to turn up in to some edm.

There are not a ton of electronic music venues in Portland and Whiskey bar brings in some great DJ’s and I always have a great time there! Yes it can be extremely hot and sweaty and packed during a show, but isn’t pretty much every other club in Portland? The sound system is decent and the people watching is a nice bonus. I have been there a couple times on weeknights to see some of my favorite DJ’s and it’s pretty awesome that drinks are only $ 2 before midnight! Otherwise their drinks are decently priced and typically generous on the booze. I would give them 5 stars but the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. There are only 2 stalls in the women’s bathroom and one of them the door has no lock and doesn’t close at all. I have been going here for years and it has literally been that way the whole time. I don’t understand why they never fix it!

The venue brings in great DJ’s and musicians, I will give them that! However, they have the ABSOLUTE most DICKish bartenders I have ever come across! I have tried so many times to be overly nice and every time, completely shut down by the [male] A-holes behind the bar who try their hardest to make you feel small and unwelcome. They should probably realize that their own lives are trivial and how unimportant they are in the scheme of things. I mean, really, you are a bartender. You are not better than those you are serving. GETOVERYOURSELVES!

I went to Whiskey bar because some locals recommended this club(and because cover was relatively cheap). Right when I walked in, I was liek«woah this looks like a janky warehouse.» There’s basically one dance floor facing the DJ, an outside area, and a bar on the let right when you walk in. The area is pretty open but strangely, ITWASSOFRIGGINHOTANDHUMID. Everybody looked like they were really fucked up but is ok because who cares as along as you’re having fun right? Maybe I came on abad night, but I didnt like the music much though. Worth checking this place out because its so cheap but I like Jones more(but not THAT much more).

Here’s a list of features you will ALWAYS find at Whiskey Bar: –Monkey men jumping around being apes in a circle in the middle of the dance floor. These dudes are big, and they are apes, and they are drunk as well as «ROLLINGBALLS!» –Sunglasses in the club. Really? Who do you think you are impressing? Or are you actually blind? By the way you shove people out of the way as well as the way you«dance» as though no one is around you(pushing, bumping, throwing your arms everywhere, knocking drinks out of hands), it really does seem that you might actually be blind. If you are, I totally apologize. There’s no reason blind people can’t go to clubs. But chances are you aren’t blind, you’re just an enormous douche. –Hoes. Lots of hoes. Drama-ass hoes. Now this might appeal to many, and that’s okay. My problem is that, aside from being utterly rude, they can’t dance worth shit, probably because they aren’t there for the music, but rather to create and/or partake in drama. My advice is to let the hoes be hoes and stay the hell away. They are not good people. And if you think one of ‘em is coming on to you, be very careful not to fall into a drama trap where you might actually get hurt, ’cause for real, she doesn’t give a shit about you, all she cares about is creating drama with her meat-head boyfriend on the sideline who is watching intently with clenched teeth ready and wanting to tear your head off. –Sex on the dance floor. Okay, it’s not full-blown sex, more like grinding, but whatever it is, it’s not a good look — IT’S NEVER A GOODLOOK. I mean, if you want to dry hump ’cause you’re rolling your brains out and whatever, that’s totally fine, but seriously, not in the middle of the dance floor. It’s gross and weird and totally kills the vibe. –Farting on the dance floor. And every time it happens, I’m always like«IT’S GOTTABETHATDUDEWITHTHEPONYTAIL!» but I’m not so sure. I actually think it might be the drama hoes. Whoever it is, please, PLEASE don’t fart on the dance floor. Step away for a second. Go fart in the bar area or the smoking area or anywhere else. Please. PLEASE! Now these features are commonly found in most clubs(unfortunately), but at Whiskey Bar, they are ALWAYS in full-effect. Like, I don’t know who the hell these people are or where they come from or what their lives are like outside of the club, but MYGOD do they love to crap-it-up all over the Whiskey. I’ve been to numerous amazing shows at the Whiskey. Lots of great experiences. Great sound. Great lighting. Decent-sized dance floor. And not every person is a terrible person. I’ll go so far as to say there’s probably a 1 to 3 ratio of good people who know how to get down proper versus those who are just terrible people in general. So again, that’s one good person verses three terrible persons. The ratio varies depending on the event, but in general, that’s what you get.

I went to the Whiskey Bar for the first time last Saturday night to see The Crystal Method. I am so happy to have found this place! The drinks were really reasonable and the crowd was amazing. It was refreshing to see many of the females wearing flats in order to actually dance to the music. I look forward to many more fun filled nights at Whiskey Bar for great electronic music and dancing.

For PDX, this place brings in some pretty decent talent: Anjunabeats Code Red, Jaytech, Super8&Tab, Maor Levi, BT, Paul Oakenfold, Arty, Adrian Lux, BoomJinx, etc. It’s a small place, but the vibe is mostly cool. There seems to be many younger folks(~21), and not a huge number of ravers – but still a fun venue with great headliners. I’ll keep going back for more events.

After going to Whiskey for the longest time, I’ve decided to give a positive review on Unilocal to give back for all the great nights I’ve had there. You can always count on them to have a good show or night when most other places are dead. Especially if you’re into dance music of all genres(Trance, Prog. House, Trap, etc.). Also, the sound is much better now than it was before!

WOMPWOMPWOMPWOMP Whiskey Bar is all about the music. Lots of local and non-local DJ acts grace the stage here filling the room with some pretty decent EDM. This place is typically pretty packed after 10:30 or so and their Whiskey Wednesdays get rather crazy… for a Wednesday… I know right?! Most entry fees are $ 5-$ 10 which is fairly common these days and essentially you are paying for the music acts. 2 bars inside although they don’t always have the second open. Which yes, can make for one hell of a drink line on the weekends. Sad. Tables, tall boys, couches, outdoor space, this place has it all. Nothing overly appealing to the eye but its more or less just a good time. I find myself here a couple times a month and always have fun.
