The staff at Performance Bicycle helped me to purchase my next bike. They really helped me work through the process and gave me some great insight. In addition their performance points system helped me to get some decent rain gear.

Great place and Customer service! I was assisted with purchasing my second bike and I was educated on the specifications. They let me leave the bike in the store bc it was late and I came back and was shown how to change a flat tire.. Awesome service!

I’ve stumbled upon this place about a year ago and will only come here from now on! The staff is amazing, they provide a superb customer experience. The best part is you don’t have to worry about buying the wrong type of product, they will exchange items to best fit your biking needs. I’ll open with an acknowledgement: the store was having a triple-​points sale and was crazy busy.
We visited this store looking for new bikes. We really weren’t sure what we wanted. We worked with Anthony. He was great with our million questions. He said the next weekend would be a great time to buy a bike because they’d be offering triple-​points back so for a $ 400 bike we’d get $ 120 in credit. Sounds great, right?
We visited a couple other bike shops and decided to return to Performance Bicycle the following weekend to buy my husband’s bike. As I said, the store was crazy busy. Hubby found the bike he wanted, we waited A LONG TIME for the bike to be prepped & ready for a test ride, and then the very confusing purchase process began. I don’t understand what was taking place during this process. As in, buying a car is simpler. Different people kept coming up to us near the register and doing different steps in the purchase process, then walking off. It was nuts and took way longer than it should have.
We were told mid-​process that the reward credits wouldn’t actually be available for use for a couple days. So I had to go back to the store 2 days later to «buy» the helmet and bike lock with the points credits.
If we ever need to buy a bike again, I will look at this store but I’ll allow a large window of time in my schedule to do so.

Good prices and good service.
I have been coming here for years. Their prices are inline or below the average bike shop price in Portland. When they have their sales (which are often) you can score some good deals.
Writing a review because about 6 months ago I got a new rear wheel from them. When I got it I asked if it would be strong enough for my commuter bike supporting me (6’4″ 200 lbs) and my panniers. They said it would.
Well forward to last week and bammo! Broken spoke. Well I took it in and explained the situation. They readily agreed that the wheel originally recommended was not strong enough so they checked their stock and found a wheel at their Beaverton store that was stronger and would fit my old bike. I asked how much more would it be and they said they would just swap it out because it was their mistake on the original wheel. The replacement wheel was $ 80 more than the old wheel. No Charge.
They really do stand behind their 100% satisfaction guarantee.

I visited this shop several times before making a purchase. I dont know what all the reviews are referring to when they say there is no customer service here. I got plenty of help even when I wasnt buying anything, and yes even when they were busy. In fact the customer service experience I got was one of the best I have ever had. Other businesses could take note here.
I ended up buying 2 bikes from this shop and they hooked it up with really good pricing. This bike shop has all kinds of bikes ranging from about 200 all the way on up to several thousands of dollars. Nice selection of accessories too. Are they the cheapest bike around? NO! AND THATS A GOOD THING!!! If you want a cheap bike go to wal mart and enjoy your overpriced piece of crap. But if you want to spend a little more money to get a quality bike, shop here. I bought a Fuji and shopped around lots of Fuji dealers in the area, this place has the best prices. The same could be said about the accessories too, they dont have the cheapest options available but they do have very good prices on great quality stuff. Not to mention the warranty services available here. 90 day price guarantee, free adjustments for as long as you own the bike, the list goes on.
Overall a great place to buy your bike whether you are just getting started or a seasoned rider.

They have a great return policy and staff that tried to answer any questions I have had. I did get pedals that just would not fit so I returned them no problem. One of them told me about a NE Portland bike shop that might have something for my old road bike. He even got online to look up the info for me. Now that is service I did visit again and got a bike speedometer on sale and it was exactly what I wanted. I am sure I will be back for tubes or such for my bike. Not to far to ride there either.

This is a nice little shop tucked into a corner at Mall 205. The big orange box to its left, and Target to its right. This is a higher end store. So no casual Schwinn riding going on here. The stuff is spendy, but I’m guessing quality as well. In other words, not for me. Thy we a bit busy today but the employee did take time to recognize me and let me know someone could help me shortly.
They are currently running (as of Sept.) an end of the summer sale with some cheaper prices for those bicycle enthusiasts. Stop by, you might find what you need.

I tried so hard to make this my local bike shop. They have a nice shop. The show room floor is massive but the customer service sucks. For the most part it’s the service dept. Don’t expect any kinda special treatment. I mean not at all. Not even a «hello» or «I will be right with you».

I dropped off a wheel to have repaired. Three days later went in to pick it up and the wheel was sitting in a pile of what they described as junk. An open pro laced up to a 105 hub is not junk. They did however say they would start working on the wheel ASAP! I politely declined considering the lack of good olé customer service. Is it me or is customer service a thing of the past. Maybe I’m jus not as understanding as I should be but this was my experience here.
I give them two stars because they did offer to start working on the wheel right away but I will not be wasting my time or money here ever again. It’s just not worth the hassle.

Great place great help the wait time on getting the parts shipped was not that bad can’t wait to do business with you them again

This place consistently exceeds my expectations for service. I just got back from grueling mountain bike ride where I got 5 flat tires over 26 miles. They helped me figure out what the problem was, installed new tubes and got me all set to ride again. They never pressure me to purchase extra gear but are happy to help if I ask. I think it’s important to mention that the bike in repair was purchased at a competitor’s shop whose service beyond the purchase had been non-​existent. Thanks again Performance!

I did a lot of shopping around at local bike shops and decided on Performance Bicycle due to their selection of bikes. I was replacing an old road bike and am at a pretty novice level when it comes to cycling.
I worked with Greg most of the time while selecting my new bike and kit, and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. He checked that I was correctly sized for a road bike, and even searched for the specific model I wanted in nearby stores. I ended up buying a Fuji Roubaix that I had my eyes on for a while, and Greg was patient while I took my sweet time being indecisive about my helmet and kit.
Long story short, I like the selection of bikes and the friendly service. I’ll be buying some accessories (such as a bike lock) from local Portland shops, but the deals and variety of bikes can’t be beat.

What great guys here at this shop. For some reason people think because PB is a «mainstream» shop, the service will be poor. Alastair, the Assistant Store Mgr along with his super friendly team of bike enthusiasts were just awesome! A very friendly, calm and helpful environment. The bike they sold me ended up being too small so Alastair is working on either backing out the deal or finding me a comparable replacement which I am stoked about! I highly recommend you visit Performance Bike at Mall 205 for all of your sales and service needs. Oh, and they have absolutely killer deals on parts if you are a DIY kind of of person!

I didn’t really have any interactions with the workers. But there was 3 of them, one helping a customer and two behind the counter. Don’t think I’ve ever felt so invisible in a shop before… I was there wondering for about 15 minutes and not one person greeted me or offered to help… I only have them 2 stars because they have a good selection. But if you were going here in hopes of assistance to help find a good fit I suggest another place…

Weve shopped here a few times for innertubes etc. Yesterday my family and I went in to look for a tire and innertube when I asked a guy at the desk a casual question about an antique bike I just bought. This guy was so considerate he actually told me they didn’t carry the exact tire I need even though they had the size that would fit, he said it would be a bumpy ride and he told us the best store to go to. We will definitely be back. Such selfless customer service.

They install tubes for $ 10 (without tube purchase!). On top of that, they didn’t install it correctly. A portion of my tire was bulging out. The Outer Rim on 106^th & Halsey provides new tube PLUS installation for only $ 10!

This place is off the chain! Wait, no, it’s on the chain… or at least part of the small chain. I guess I really just wanted to make a bike chain joke. Okay fine, whatever, I’ll shut up now.
Performance Bicycle is one of those places that defies the usual paradigm. It’s part of a larger chain but it still has a decently local feel to it. I tend to favor my ultra-​local bike shops but Performance benefits from a larger selection of bikes and gear, friendly service, and longer hours. That last part being key. A couple of times recently I’ve been shut out by local stores being closed when I need a flat fixed or a part or whatever, and Performance is there for me. This location is fairly convenient to my house and the service crew here has always done solid work on my rides. Prices are fairly competitive.
Really I can’t ask much more from a store, and I would never expect more from a store that’s part of something bigger. I can definitely dig it.

Took my wife here to buy shoes for spin class — I’d heard they were good to work with and have a great return policy.
They helped her pick some out, showed her how to use them and gave her a bunch of pro tips. Really spent the time needed with her.
Turns out the shoes hurt her feet and she needed to bring them back. I returned them on the 29^th day and they accepted them back with no problems. They showed me some other options and pointed out that the clips were not where she should have had them for her future reference. Since she wasn’t there, she couldn’t try them on with the adjusted clips (the way they told her the first time, btw).
Anyway, they refunded the full amount and I was on my way. I’ll definitely try to be a customer there as much as I can in the future.

I’m not an avid bike rider and by boyfriend and I enjoy riding our bikes here and there for some exercise and just to get out and do stuff. I owned a bike that I bought just to buy and needless to say, it wasn’t working and I knew I needed something new and WAY better. My boyfriend and I looked around quite a bit at prices. Our neighbor highly recommended Performance Bicycle at Mall 205, because he use to work there and said the quality of the stuff there is worth the price!
I was immediately greeted when I walked through the door by Christopher and told him exactly what I was looking for. He showed me the bike I was checking out online and pulled it aside for me to test ride and also pointed out a few other bikes that would work (as I’m so short, I needed as small of a frame an adult bike came in). They weren’t in my price range, but I realize that maybe you need to spend a lil more to have the bike that fits you right.
The maintenance guy, Terry, was awesome! I took a quick stroll through the back parking lot and found that this and that was wasn’t working for me. He immediately knew what to do and was fixed it. Handle bars, seats, brake lines… he took the time and fixed the bike to the needs that I wanted. The one bike I went there for was just not working for me, so I tried one of the other bikes. It was a dream. Amazing. Terry found different parts in the back to add to the bike. I went back and forth quite a few times and I was always greeted with «How do you like it? What can I do to make it better?» and without a question he fixed it.
After riding the bike around the neighborhood, I decided that this was going to be the bike for me. I asked them what their return policy was. Both Terry and Christopher told me that it’s for a life time. If I don’t like it after a year, I can bring it back no questions asked. I can trade it in and pay the difference between my bike and the new one I want. I can also bring my bike in for a repair and they will do it at no cost. I’m sure I’ll have to pay for a part, but I won’t have to pay for the labor. Becoming a Performance member, I get 10% back in everything I spend there and there are special member says I can get 20−30% back. It only costs me $ 29.99 a year.
They were really knowledgeable and really promoted the fun in cycling. Everyone who works there rides their bike to work and enjoys the sport. They know what it takes to ride a bike and to ride it comfortably. Terry said that he doesn’t want people to feel like they are exercising, he wants them to enjoy just riding their bike because it’s fun. To choose riding their bike over driving the car, because if the bike doesn’t fit them, then it’s not going to be fun to ride.
All the added parts that Terry put on my bike, I got for free. I got a new seat (they kept my other one), a new break line, and a new connector thing for my handle bars to bring them closer to me. All in all, I felt like I was getting the best customer service and they were not out to sell me the most expensive bike, but a bike that would work for me.
Their prices are very comparable to others with the same quality of equipment. I would recommend anyone to go here. It definitely was worth my time and money and I’m very pleased with my purchase.
