Convenient location. although I didn’t appreciate a separate appointment just to establish care with a doctor in the Providence Health Plan network. I asked for my first appointment to be coincident with an annual physical but they won’t do it.

I am just beyond frustrated at Dr. K’s office right now, and it isn’t the first time. I reallllly wanted this doctor to work because the office is so close to my home, but at this point I feel like I’m just forcing the issue. The thing is, I just don’t feel CARED for when I’m here. Recently, I saw her to deal with some pain management issues I’ve been having. The prescription she gave me was not working and I was in severe pain. I called first thing in the morning and left a detailed message with a nurse. I called again at 2, and after waiting on hold for 15 minutes, the person who picked up with me was SO short with me. Like… long pauses, sarcastic sighs, everything. I reiterated I was in a LOT of pain and needed the prescriptions re-evaluated. She said that the doctor still had not looked at my message. Fine, I get they’re busy. Just before 5, I called again and was again told the doctor had not reviewed my message. Five minutes later, I got a call that the doctor HAD just reviewed my message, but said she would need to look at my chart tomorrow since she leaves early on Mondays, and in any case if I needed a prescription for pain medication I had to come in. So, Dr. Kakodar finally looked at my messages(7 hours old at that point), saw I had been in extreme pain all day, and then left before 5pm with her only message being that yes, she would take a look at my chart tomorrow. I’m angry at the staff for not letting me know I may as well schedule an appointment, because I wasted a day that could have been spent dealing with the issue. No sense of understanding or urgency at all. I’m angry at Dr. Kakodar for being so cold that she could look at THREE urgent messages from a patient, HOURSLATE, stating they were in severe pain, then GOHOMEEARLY without addressing the issue at ALL! Totally uncaring. I’ll get this issue taken care of and then switch my PCP. I do not recommend her at all.

Let me just say, I love my Doctor.(Doctor Ji). She is awesome. And her assistant, doctor person or whatever, always asks me how I am doing, and remembers stuff about me, which is nice. The problem with this place is all but one of the receptionists. I’ve been through, since I moved here and had to get a new doctor, my phone number being incorrect for almost two years in their files. First because they didn’t believe I actually had a 505 number, and put 503, when I specifically said 505, then by calling the 503 number after I had corrected their mistake, and then continuing to do so up until this most recent time, where now they should have the number I currently have. Unless I speak to a certain receptionist, everything gets screwed up, from prescription wait times, the latest problem, scheduling. I called to make an appointment and was given a day when I could come in(which is hard because I work nights). Apparently they had messed up and scheduled me for a day that my doctor had a meeting. So I was annoyed, but called yesterday and was told to come in tomorrow. Apparently I didn’t get the right receptionist, because they scheduled me for a day that my doctor was not even IN, and after waking myself up in the middle of what is my sleep time, and going in, I was told that they had meant tomorrow, and I could come in then. I rescheduled, again, for this following Monday. The problem is that I’m not only on a night schedule, but they are forcing me to come in, as they usually do every few months, for the controlled substance I have a prescription for, which expires Saturday. So now, I will be without it for the weekend, for not fault of my own. I wish I could remember the name of the receptionist that actually does a good job. She’s incredibly nice, and was a great help this morning. But the fact remains, to really like a doctor and say that I would switch practices merely for the people that answer the phones and schedule appointments? There is CLEARLY something wrong here.

Recently, I had severe lower back issues that required me to visit a doctor to be checked out. This was the first time I’ve had issues like this and I found«Dr. G“‘s bed side manner to be lacking in the extreme. The entire visit all she did was listen to me breath and my hearth to make sure I didn’t have a serious internal injury(I assume since she didn’t communicate any useful information the whole visit). Her advice for me was basically, «yeah you will probably have other back issues in the future.» I supplied some hypothesis as to why I was having issues as well as what I thought I might do to improve my situation based on my own research. I wanted her opinion on a medical basis of whether or not these things would help but she really seemed to have no opinion. I was alarmed that *I* had to prompt her for a solution rather than her offer one. During my visit she continually checked her watch and seemed disinterested in my concerns. This review is specific to her, but having visited this center on one other occasion for a general checkup, I also found that doctor to be uncaring. I’m sorry, but if I have to get naked in some office somewhere, it had better not feel so transactional. I’m a person, I expect to be treated like one. ESPECIALLY from my doctor.
