While visiting Portland from out of state I was enjoying ice cream(at Salt and Straw-yummy), when we came upon Public Bikes in that same neighborhood. I was not exactly ready to buy a bike but the sales girls were super friendly and helpful. We even got to test ride a bike. That was a fun addition to the Portland trip! Now I’m home and prepared to buy but I can’t find anything local that I like as well as the Public Bike. There is no shipping charge if you buy a Public Bike over $ 400 so I am looking forward to getting my avacado C7i! Thanks Public Bikes, I’m glad I met ya!

Was excited about store. Never heard of this brand of bikes, so saw sale on fixie while«window shopping,» ordered mid-July. Told about problem with paint at time, that was backordered, okay’ed, estimated early August delivery. No bike mid-August, had to call, told late Sept, early October. Cancelled order. Understand glitches happen, but unacceptable wait time and lack of communication. Nice-looking bikes, would have liked to have had. :(They don’t sell their bikes in the store, so not«local.» Also, they get parts overseas. So, in the end, even though chain and store in Portland, wasn’t originally what I was looking for carbon-footprint-wise, either. And beware because shipping costs are ~55−140, which isn’t really transparent until you order.

I’ve been on the lookout for a bike for the past few months and just didn’t know how to go about finding the right one. I wanted a cruiser that had adjustable speeds, but was also super functional and not a bank breaker. Enter a lazy stroll on a Monday evening in Portland where Public bikes had some bikes on the sidewalk. Fast forward an hour later after a test ride, I am now the proud owner of a beautiful bike! My friend was with me too and she got a test ride too! We will definitely be back for more :)
