Gee, should have known about this store earlier. I am frequently in Portland and just got to this shop by accident. Coming from the Bay Area, the prices at Sorel’s were so much lower than in the Bay Area and in other parts of Portland. The staff was nice and helpful. I couldn’t buy something large this time but got a bunch of vintage and new small things. Will be back and check for desk or table later this month.

After moving to Portland and needing quite a lot of furniture, we visited Sorel Vintage and get three amazing things. A great teak dresser, an unbelievable teak roll-top desk, and a george nelson style round dining table. The prices were soooo good. I’d say we paid about half of what we would have paid on line or in any other city. I’ve been here before and there are always good finds. Great accessories for the home as well. The staff is helpful too. They were able to put us in touch with two movers and followed up with us by making some calls to one of the movers as well. I make this place a regular stop to check out new things!

Good collection of mid century modern and then some. A George Nelson bubble lamp and lots of credenzas, dressers, tables, and home accessories.

This is a cool vintage type store with some fun odds and ends. I’ve bought quite a few things in here over the years. The owners are very nice and helpful. Nice place to shop in.

I’ve already reviewed Sorel… but I made yet another stop in yesterday. I really enjoyed a lot of the vintage furnishings… took me right back to my childhood! The browsing and thinking and envisioning are fun… but, again like before, the service leaves me with an unpleasant taste in my mouth. Nothing«bad» happened. But I hate that feeling of being stared at… which is exactly what happens. The saleswoman said hello when we entered… and that was it. The remainder of her time was spent following us around, staring, listening to our conversation, observing us from nearby. Makes me want to scoot right on out just as quickly as I can.

I always love wandering into Sorel when I am making the rounds of my favorite browsing stores on Hawthorne. They have a fun collection of randomness, as well as a growing selection of vintage furniture. This weekend, my friend was sent into a state of 70’s ecstasy as she lovingly fantasized about taking the living room window display home with her… the orange couch was in pristine condition and she loved all the matching décor in the display window. It’s true, there is nothing like 70’s orange! If I ever get my dream mid century modern home, I’ll be sure to look to buy some interesting pieces here.

I used to really enjoy shopping in this little boutique housewares store. The merch buyer was tasteful and had a good variety of reasonably priced décor. The last 2 times that I have visited I have been disappointed in the«cheap crap» that seems to have overtaken the shelves. The skull mirror and window shades are still cool — but everything else feels like they bought it from the Fubonn & jacked up the prices.

Love this place! Got some very cute hats. A very eclectic place. From wallets, pins, paper goodies, incense, accessories to awesome retro furniture with still so much in between. And the prices are amazing. A fun place to mosey around in.

This is another store that is a must stop when I visit Portland and hit Hawthorne Street. Nice selection of items for the Garden and Home. My mom got a cute shopping bag. I purchase some funky house letters for my home. They were out of «2’s» and climbed up on the wall to give me the display number so I could have all the number’s for my house address. What service. I will be back.

This fine establishment on Hawthorne is on the Vintage side of the gift shop space-time continuum on Hawthorne. The only thing that threw me when I wandered in was hearing«Sweet and Innocent» by Donny Osmond as background music. The shop is nicely organized and the 2 guys running the store were friendly and helpful. My son really enjoyed the music box selection, while I admired the asian-themed furniture and home décor items, that I knew up front that Gayle would never allow into our home. I could see coming back to shop some more, but I’m sure she would insist that I do that only with adult supervision.

I really enjoyed browsing through this store. It’s too bad we aren’t really in the market for furniture right now. I felt a little like Goldilocks trying out all the couches and chairs! But what really made this store fun for me was all the home décor items. They have secret compartment books that are made from actual books, so they look quite convincing.(They feel much lighter then actual books, though, so I’d suggest weighting them a little if you want them to feel real.) I enjoyed flipping through the matted Marvel comic prints, too. You can get them either framed or unframed. They also had a varied selection of reasonably priced home and garden items. Some were quite whimsical — door knockers shaped as ladybugs — while others were more practical — we picked up a 4″ ceramic pot for $ 2.95. I’m excited to repot a dying Jade plant that’s been floating around the house. The best thing we got was a plush toy Zebra from the Pearls Before Swine collection. He was so cute and was just $ 7.95. I do feel we’ll be back to pick up a Pig and maybe a couple of Crocodiles. The dude behind the counter was very friendly and he and the Sam swapped favorite Pearls Before Swine quotes. We all had a lovely chuckle. He also showed us a picture of a Pearls Before Swine plush toy with his beautiful cat. He told us that these(the Zebra, Pig, Rat and Crocodile) are the first licensed products from the comic strip. We also discussed other characters like the Goat. I left Sorel Vintages feeling like I had a crash-course in the ins and outs of Pearls Before Swine. I can see myself shopping here in the future for birthday, hostess and/or housewarming gifts. I’m looking forward to more leisurely browsing trips here, too.

This store is GREAT. Prices are only a little more than what you would pay for the same stuff online — and that markup is less than you’d pay for shipping costs, so they get a star for that(unlike Greg’s next door, which marks up like whoa). The interior is really well-organized. There is an intense selection of window coverings, lighting fixtures(including more paper lanterns than you can shake a fist at), and quality furniture, and tasteful home décor touches. No junk here! Basically, Sorel’s is like everything GOOD from the Urban Outfitters home décor section, with none of the hipster posturing or obnoxious kitschy items.

This store is a real gem. They sell a crap-ton of home decorating stuff at low, low prices. You can find anything from leather chairs to shoji lamps to garden stuff to those lovely, lovely star lights(I have one in my bedroom.) There’s even a watch repair center. They have a HIGH turn-over with their furniture, so if you see something you like, nab it right quick. And go back as often as you can to see what new stuff they’ve gotten in. Their delivery is pretty reasonably priced, too.

Sorel’s offers vintage and new furniture, clocks, and accouterments. Every time I’ve been in there the staff has been friendly and helpful. While I’m not often in the market for furniture or clocks, or the mounted insects they sell, I do enjoy their music box workings. You can buy the little metal piece that goes inside music boxes that cranks around to make a song for next to nothing(I remember them being around 3 bucks!). They come in a variety of songs, but I have only ever bought happy birthday and used the mechanism to make hand-made birthday presents that can serenade those who are getting older.
