The needle is an amazing little gem in the middle of the Hawthorne district. Myrna the woman who runs the small non profit store is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I found some amazing books here, the buttons are fantastic and the nic-nacks are addicting! Its a great place for gifts, books, and trinkets for yourself. it truly is an eclectic group of items that the store holds, and the books come in all forms, from rare and used, to new and child friendly. there is a book cart that has a lot of cheaper books on it, so you really can find things for every price range. there is also art, and i love the fact that it is a non profit, so all of the funds go towards juvenile diabetes! Its a great spot and definitely worth checking out!

I discovered this tiny, intriguing store about a year ago. Its name put me off at first(connotates heroin to me), but turns out that this nonprofit store aspires to fund diabetes research. Every nook and cranny is crammed with vintage books and oddities. Reminds me of «ye olde curiousity shop.» If you aren’t claustrophobic it would be easy to spend over an hour in here discovering small treasures.

I stumbled upon this place a couple years ago with a friend as we came out of Buffalo Exchange next door. We found it to be charming, my friend with me was from Europe and to her it felt like something she would have come across int he streets of Spain. I have been back many times. Although I will say that the hours are minimal I think mainly afternoons and possibly not regular. I still go back. And correction the number listed 503−234−7662 is for a different Vintage Shop, The correct number is(503) 234‑0585.
