Fantastic! Best Mexican shop outside of So. Cal. Carne Asada Fries are the best (order fries extra crispy). Other top contenders: California burrito, carne Asada quesadilla and the TACOS (carnita, Asada and pastor)!!! The prices are great and disregard that it’s right next to sex shop… Enjoy and you r welcome!

I’m always on the lookout for good cheap tacos, and today I went to Tacos Chavez. I ordered three different tacos: pastor, asada, and carnitas. All three meats were pretty tasty.. .maybe a little bit greasy (the tortillas were slightly soaked through), but not bad. Well, I can’t complain about the price.. .only $ 1.50 each. There’s very limited seating inside, so taking your food to go might be more practical here. A previous Unilocal reviewer had mentioned that there are only six seats inside, and I had thought that maybe that was an exaggeration, but it is correct. The space is really tiny, with three small tables and six chairs. However, there are also two small picnic tables outside. Although their low price for tacos is nice, Tacos Chavez is not my favorite place for that price point. Yep, there’s another place in SE Portland that has $ 1.50 tacos that I like better.. .and also has more places to sit too.

Amazing food! I’ve had a few things there and never been disappointed. The California burrito is huge and delicious. The nachos with chorizo was super flavorful, and the super burrito with chorizo was also amazingly flavorful, giant and awesome. A little too much rice but, still super awesome. The prices are perfect, and the people that work there are super nice. Definitely going to be a regular customer for a long time.

Last night I was at my boyfriend’s house for some Netflix and Chill and we decided to give the new Amazon Prime delivery app a try and ordered from this place.
I had a Huarache with Carnitas. He had a burrito of some kind. We shared the Carne Asada Fries.
Huarache: The cornmeal base was hearty and spongy. It soaked up the sauces beautifully. The toppings were far from skimpy and the overflowing corn cake warmed my belly like a campfire. Mix the habanero sauce with the green sauce for a lovely taste sensation.
Burrito of some kind: I was more focused on getting through dinner and getting my Netflix and Chill on. He seemed to like it, so that’s cool.
Carne Asada Fries: This is ultimate stoner food and it was gosh-​dang delicious. Piled high with carne asada, the fries soaked up the juices and grease like sweet little starchy squarepantses. I’d tell you more about how amazing it tasted, but let’s be real. We sucked that up like a brand new Dyson straight off the line in a sawdust factory.
Rest assured, we did eventually get our Netflix and Chill on and the food wasn’t so heavy that we couldn’t. I was quite happy with it all. Next time, I intend to try to the Lengua and their Birria sounds pretty tasty.

THANK YOU for opening near my house. I don’t even mind walking past the sleezy adult store to get there. The food here hits the spot without hitting the wallet. Is it greasy, yes. Is it messy, yes. But isn’t that what you are looking for at a taco shop?

Alll ive ever eaten here is soggy cold burritos and tacos served by big people with tattoos. nothing impressive here. quality of meat is poor. 1 star for hot sauce. i think i read a good review in the mercury or something, seems they like everything these days…

This place is great to eat at. Taste like the mexican food they make in California! Great prices too!

We have had the carne asada super burrito a couple of times now. It is HUGE!!! So huge, I get a piece and my guy eats the rest over the next 24 hrs. So big they unfold at the ends. Don’t try to pick them up with out the wrapper…$ 6
Tonight we ordered the burrito as well as the red mole. I love red mole. This was so yummy. They serve it with pinto beans, rice, and some small corn tortillas all for $ 6.
So for $ 12 we get 2 meals each!
Definitely will be going again and again. So glad to have another choice of fast Mexican food besides Don Pedro (which is about a 3 star review to me)

Huge portions, good prices, and fast and friendly service. A welcome addition to the neighborhood.
Indoor seating is limited (I think there are six chairs total), but there are a couple of small tables out front. The hot sauce is on par with *most* local taquerias, although I have yet to try the XXX sauce.
Street parking has yet to be an issue as it seems many of the patrons walk or bike.
The ingredients seem fresh and they give you a choice of whole black or pinto beans.
Not the greatest taqueria in town, but great in its own way.

Large portions, super quick service! XXX hot sauce has good flavor, very consistent. They have veggie options, was told the steak is better than most other small taco shops.
They are new to the neighborhood and there are always people coming and going and have chatted with a few return customers such as myself. Huge portions for the price.

There are several competitor taquerias in this town that apparently use similar quality ingredients. I feel compelled to elevate Chavez to a 4 star because the taste was excellent, but the quality of the ingredients cannot be differentiated from the competitors leaving it at a 3 star.
The prices are excellent. The service is fast and friendly, and the taste was delicious. If you like tacos or mexican food in general, you cannot go wrong here.

Real Mexican in a clean, small restaurant. Veggie burrito was tasty and HUGE, $ 5! Huevos Rancheros was good, with tasty sauce. XXX Sauce is really hot, fragrant and tasty. Friendly people.

Carne asada super burrito with guacamole and sour cream for $ 6? Awesome! I have been looking for a good super burrito in Portland for a few months, this one is by far my favorite! I get a super burrito here 2 – 3 times a week. Great place and a local business! Try it, you won’t be disappointed!
