Came here for the paneer dish while shopping around the food carts. I would definitely say it’s a solid curry choice if you’re craving indian, and the food is more of a 4⁄5 star restaurant, but I’ve heard multiple friends complain/comment on the less than stellar service, and I honestly felt like the guy was pretty rude about taking our order and giving our food as well. Going to give this place a very respectable 3 stars. If you’re in the area and craving indian food, stop by this place!

My first Indian food in Portland Food trucks. I ordered the Chicken Biriyani in mild strength. Very tasty, chicken were tender. From the past Biriyani’s that I had, they include more turmeric and nuts like cashews in it. It’s a lot of rice. But hey it’s really good!

The most awful Indian food I’ve had in Portland. I came here, because my favorite Indian cart just a few away from this one was closed. I ordered the tikka masala lunch special for $ 7 that came with naan. First off, the tikka masala was very sweet, no spices, herbs or anything you’d expect in a tikka masala. The color is bright pink. If I didn’t know what I ordered it would take me hundreds of guesses as to what it was. The side dish of some sort of beans was horrendous. It tasted like watered down cardboard. No flavor. Their rice wasn’t even cooked properly. The naan wasn’t fluffy. More eggy and doughy. I could’ve have gotten a lot more flavorful food for the same price right next door, but unfortunately I was craving Indian food. And this was far from Indian food. I couldn’t even choke it down. I had to go buy something else for lunch.

The wrap is bigger than it looks in the picture. You don’t need anything else. I got the veggie wrap, which was rice, peas, carrots, bell peppers, onions, cauliflower, potatoes, etc. and paneer with curry sauce — tastes like tikka masala or makhani sauce. Pretty good. Would’ve preferred less rice though — there’s a lot of rice in it.

Chicken Wrap is fantastic. It usually lasts me 2 – 3 meals. It can take a while though. The Lunch Special is a lot of food and it is very fast.

I got vegetable samosas and aloo kulcha. I think they were each $ 3. It was a lot yummier than I expected! You can tell its fresh made. I’ll definitely be back because the food exceeded the price. I’ve heard a lot of comments from other customers that the drinks were super good. There are several comments about burnt naan bread. 1 of the 3 times I’ve gotten it, it had a little blackening in spots. Still good… But obviously it’d be better if it wasn’t black in spots. Serving size for most of their dishes can definitely feed 2, or can be reheated for a 2nd meal later.

I ordered the lamb curry wrap, and it was some of the best curry of my life. It weighed at least 3 lbs and was a delicious sweet curry with onions, peppers and Lamb wrapped in a giant piece of naan. I told my husband that from now on all curry should be wrapped in naan. The wrap was only $ 7.50 and I doubt I will have to eat dinner. We will definitely return!

What I liked: huge portion and very quick service. What I didn’t like: the food was not very tasty. I got the vegetarian special which was saag paneer and aloo mutter with rice and naan. Both of the dishes were fairly bland; perfectly edible but nothing memorable. I do not like spicy food, and while I appreciated that it was mild, it also lacked spices that gave it actual flavor. The naan too was super dense, barely warm, and somewhat stale. It was reminiscent of cardboard. Definitely did not taste fresh baked and delicious. If you just want to fill up on food, I think it’s a solid buy at $ 7. But if you want a good tasty meal, I’d look somewhere else.

My review is of their naan only. I walked all over town trying to find an Indian cart open at 10:30, but they weren’t open, even though their hours say 10:30. I tried to go to any other Indian cart, but they were all closed. I finally came back here at 11:10 and they were open. I had leftovers from Bombay Chaat House and wanted some naan to go with my meal. $ 2 for a piece of naan was kind of ridiculous, but I’d been walking for 40 minutes trying to find some. Whatever, it’ll be worth it. Definitely NOT worth it. The naan tastes stale, is falling apart, and is burnt in spots. Ugh. I should’ve waited another half hour until Bombay Chaat House opened and could’ve gotten WAY better naan for half the price! Even though this place is closer to my work, you can be sure I won’t be returning! Yuck! This ish tastes like cardboard.

Oy. Just hit this place up after a year of living abroad and craving the butter chicken/chicken khorma they have here. I came, ordered my usual, the guy was creepy as per usual(«so are you married?»), and then I got what I expected to be pure taste bud happiness. What I got was disappointment. It wasn’t like it was bad. It just was not great. About your average Northern Indian/Pakistani fare. Nothing like the heavenly stuff I’d always get when I went to the food carts. I’m rather upset about this. I probably will come back again. If anything changes, I’ll update this review.

First I arrived late and they were nice enough to let me order food. The portions are huge and probably could feed two people. I tried the Goa chicken curry and added veggies at medium spice. I’ve had different types of curry but this was a first time for Goa style. It wasn’t bad but just wasn’t good either. The Samosa was fantastic and would order that again just bc it was so good. The Mango Lassi isn’t made in house but still tasted good.

Synopsis: Solid(and we do mean solid) Indian fare with a large variety of options, from lamb to chicken to shrimp. One of the most cost-effective lunch solutions we’ve yet experienced. This place is generally legendary with a brick-and-mortar location and two carts. We ended up with the lamb saag($ 9), the navrataan korma($ 8), a creamy mix of vegetables over rice and the vegetable pakoras($ 3). The pakorascame with their own sets of chutneys and were practically a meal unto themselves: thick, chana batter encrusted onions and potatoes into a glob of hot, crunchy goodness. We could barely get a third of the way through the other two dishes before we split it up and took the remainder home. Scores: Time: It took us nearly 15 minutes to get the food, but it was so dense that we were done with our meal in under 45 minutes. Value-5: Holy what! We got a combined six meals out of our twenty-dollar investment. That’s just over three bucks per sitting. You can’t beat that. Gut check at 3pm: At 3pm, I was stuffed. At 6 pm, I was stuffed. At 9 pm, I considered dinner. And skipped it entirely. Sustainability-3: They offer Go Box, and in my opinion, skipping a meal because you ate mostly cream and vegetables with some rice is one of the better options for the environment: the fewer meals you eat, the better. Fear Factor-3: Indian is gloppy and soupy to most. For the uneducated, it may be a bit scary. For the rest of us who’ve been exploring the multi-spiced cream sauces, the tamarind chutney, the deep-fried veggie balls, this isn’t a thing. So, that’s all up to you. The cart is busy all the time, so it’s not like anything’s sitting out. Staying Power-5: I went to university over 11 years ago, and that’s when this now-chain of carts and restaurants started out. It now has a prime location on the corner of the cart pod and is always busy. And rightfully so. Creativity-4: Indian food in America mostly follows a script: butter chicken, saag, a couple of veggie dishes, naan. New Taste of India offers all of that and more: the pakoras we had, they have wraps that are sort of like an Indian gyro, as well as a ton of offerings in this tiny kitchen.

Got the $ 6 meat special of a weirdly sweet, neon chicken tikka masala and a yogurt curry, which I would guess is some generic curry made with yogurt. Didn’t like the chicken tikka sauce at all and found both curries to be bland. Chicken itself didn’t have much flavor. The yellow curry had something that was breaded and deep fried in it, which was soggy in the curry. The green chili chutney helped provide some much needed heat and flavor. With so many other Indian carts around, I sadly won’t be back to this one.

Apparently, I like this place so much that I’ve been awarded a dukedom for it. Though they serve really good food at the Taste of India food truck, I’ve been annoyed to notice a frequent lack of sanitary practices. Every now and then, I purchase their wraps. And on the past couple of occasions, I’ve noticed that the guy who rolls that wraps doesn’t wash his hands or put on gloves between handling money, his phone or food. Most recently, I was disgusted by noticing that his finger had been wrapped in black electrical tape(I assume that he had cut himself, unless this is the newest fashionable thing) and he was still handling food ungloved. It would be nice to see him using gloves. Until then, I will be avoiding this food cart.

I love this place! The samosas are so tasty and they are practically a meal in and of themselves. They make them to order so they are always crispy/flaky and come with two sides of chutney. The chicken vindaloo is also very good, there’s always a solid amount of chicken and it’s always tender. If you are with someone who is willing to split multiple plates the saag paneer or shahi paneer is something worth trying. If I’m short on time, I usually get the naan wraps. They are so addicting, and for only six dollars you can’t go wrong. Everyone that I work with absolutely love them. The lunch special is a good way to go if you have absolutely no time to wait around. They already have it cooked up and ready to go. It’s not the best they have, but it’s not bad, either.

I just ate here, thinking it’d be a quick bite before running some errands. I didn’t realize I would be given an INSANE amount of food. There ought to be a disclaimer, and a half portion for individuals, offered. In any case, the saag channa was delicious. I’ve had loads of Indian food, both on the subcontinent and in the US, and I haven’t found any compelling options in Portland so far. But this cart is really solid Indian food; it is what I want when I say I want Indian food. Of course, I’ve only tried one dish, but you don’t get it this right unless you know what you’re doing. I hit my limit when I had finished less than half of the tray of food; I ended up giving my leftovers to someone on the street who seemed to need a meal. I suggest you bring a friend or an intention to do a good deed.

One of the good and consistent Indian food trucks in Portland. I have been to this place many many times and the food is always good. The lunch deals that they have for $ 6 is very nice with two entrée dishes, rice and naan. I have had that sometimes but one of my favorites here are the wraps and the drinks(non-alcoholic, of course). The vegetarian and chicken wraps are both filling and tasty. They have rice also in them and they ca usually make it pretty spicy if you want it. I usually am not a big rice eater so I get the chicken wrap without the rice and spicy. There drinks are also very good. In the cold winter I get the hot tea that they serve and in the summer I get the mango shake. I usually pick up these things even if I don’t choose to eat at this cart that day.

I think the food here is pretty good. Not my favorite Indian, but for food truck food, this place is kicking butt. It’s a good price, good food, and quick! I’ve only been once, so I can’t say about the wrap which is what everyone else is talking about. But I’ve had the saag and the chicken curry. Both very good! I’d give it a solid 3.5*

If you take anything away from skimming this list of reviews, take this: Get. The. Wrap. While the other dishes are quite tasty, the logistics of packaging curry to go are difficult at best and all over your lap at worst. But wraps? They are made for this exact scenario. So drop your expectation and thwart your expedition to find the«most authentic Indian cuisine» around, and instead indulge in a puffy naan tortilla hugging your choice of lamb, chicken or veggies, alongside rice, soaked in curry. Spice it up to your liking and feel free to get creative with the contents(mine involved adding chicken to the veggie wrap, which clearly makes me the most creative person in PDX). When you tuck into this beast of an Indian burrito during your walk back to the office(and again at dinner later that night — these wraps are the size and weight of a small child) you will be laughing at all the suckers trying to defy wrap logic. Fools.

The service here isn’t great, and I’m less than satisfied by the chicken tikka masala I got. I was looking specifically for that flavor with the tikka, but I ended up getting some weird sweet sauce — maybe it was coconut? Perhaps he makes his tikka masala differently, but of all the times I’ve had it, I’ve never had it sweet. The chicken he put in was red chicken, like it was marinated in sweet sauce. It reminded me of the pork you get at the restaurants that is soaked in the red stuff. The naan wasn’t in great shape either… there were large burnt pieces of it and it was super thin. It was also a little pricey in my opinion for what you can find elsewhere at the food carts. With a lemonade(that comes out of a jug, btw) naan, and tikka masala, I ended up spending $ 11.50. Next time, I’ll just stick to Tandoor — it’s a few carts down and it’s consistent.
