This guy microwaves the food. And I’m pretty sure it’s pre-packaged gyro meat. Maybe the same you can get at winco? In either case, this place is not at all authentic. The gyros are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to quality. I’ll never come back here again. The guy is nice enough, but if you’re going to make gyros in a town that already has delicious ones I’d at least hope yours would stand up to some sort of quality. Don’t waste your money here. You won’t enjoy the microwaved gyro meat and the taziki sauce is bland. If I wanted that, I could have spent half the money I just did and made enough for 4 people at my own house with more ingredients

This place is OK. The guy has good personality and has been clearly doing this for a very long time. The meat is a little over seasoned. I got a Greek salad that I had him add meat to because I wanted something low-carb low-cal. It came with a small amount of dressing. I was not impressed by the salad though it was Fresh and the meat was good so I’m sure other things that he had are very good. I would say that if you’re at CartLandia already that this place is pretty decent but if you’re looking for gyro and you’re just in Southeast Portland I would go to Gyro house on 82nd and Cora. It’s amazing and makes this look like food cart food. :-)

If I remember correctly, Rich is the guy’s name who owns the business truck. He was nice and friendly and gave us sample of the meat and sauce. My husband liked the food that we ordered; he ordered the Gyro Plate. The Gyro plate has plenty of meat which is awesome, and the pita bread are square-shape bite size. Overall, everything was delicious and will come back for more.

Not inedible, but far from superior. The guy was nice, gave us a meat sample and chatted us up a bit. We went ahead and got two, and wished we hadn’t after I ordered. Dude didn’t wash his hands or put on gloves! I actually think he was high… like breaking bad kinda high. While we sat eating I noticed all the flailing around, couldnt stand still… kept touching his face… .Anyway, pretty bland and not very big. Sauce was really weak too. My boy loves gyros but not this one. But that’s the fun of food carts, explore and find what’s good!

Okay. So the name is HILARIOUS! That had to be the first thing i addressed. That is the reason I checked out this cart in the first place. and I’m SO happy I did! The dude running this cart is very passionate about his gyros and you can taste it! Absolutely delicious! I hope you are reading this review Mr. Gyro Master Man, because I would like to say: WELLDONE!!! But beware! This dude is pretty blatant with his humor(which I find hilarious!), so if you’re fragile be careful and don’t be a dumbass while addressing gyros. Definitely get yourself to this holy grail of food carts.

Unilocal why don’t you have zero as an option? This was by far the worst experience ever. A total rip off considering the circumstances. I approached the truck and ask the guy about the options and recommendations. I tried two of their gyros and they were gross. The guy didn’t wash his hands after he walked back in the truck and he was handling a garbage container. He just put the stuff in the microwave and proceeded to fix our gyros. I was embarrassed for him and there was no need to argue about not washing his hands. There was not point; when you see an employee you know there is room for improvement because management can do something about it, but when you see the owner… That’s absolutely disgusting and unacceptable!!! Kiss-goodbye your 7 bucks and move on.

The gyro I had here was one of the best I ever had. I think that is mostly attributable to the meat. The menu is simple for a reason, because the focus is on that wonderful gyro meat. The guy who owns the cart is always really friendly and is proud of his product. He explained to us that gyro meat should be a mixture of lamb and beef, rather than either meat alone. The meat is so tender and well seasoned and sliced nice and thin. The pita is pre-made and the vegetables on the gyro are not particularly special(just mass produced commercial tomatoes and white onions), but his tzaziki sauce is pretty incredible. I do recommend putting some feta on the gyro for an extra kick. I also added a falafel, which was really well seasoned and flavorful. I think this is definitely one of my go-to spots at Cartlandia and a top choice for a quick and cheap gyro.

The gyro was a bit messy, a little heavy on the tzatziki sauce. I was expecting the gyro to be a bit bigger for the price, didnt quite fill me up. It tasted great and overall i would probably eat there again but wouldn’t be my number one pick for gyros. The guy is very nice too so that is a plus!

Just got a regular gyro. It was delicious! He put lots of meat or sauce. It came with tomatoes and onions too, which were a perfect combo. I will be back :)

Gyro is incredible, and if you’re not sure you can get a sample of the meat. Messy, and I usually end up ditching some of the onion but really very tasty. Guy friend of mine thought the plate wasn’t big enough but gyro is perfect for me.

The gyros sandwich(meat, onions, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce on a warm pita) was so delicious we went back and bought another one. It tasted just like the ones we’ve had in Europe.

Okay, so I come from the windy city, and we LOVE our gyros. The g spot hits it alright! Whenever I want a kick ass gyros, I go there. I also like Ozzie’s deli. But something about this guy’s gyros are reminiscent of home. The fries, the gyros, the pop… All take me back to the south side. Hell yes, I love this place!!!

Sorry, but I’m very confused on the«excellent» comments. This was the most boring and pathetic Gyros I’ve ever had. I’m really not trying to be mean here. The $ 7 cost is a complete rip off for what you get. For instance at a place called Gyro-2-Go you get a GIANT Gyro(seriously it’s GIANT especially compared to the pathetic Gyro I just had) with amazing taktziki sauce that you can even get a spicy version of and lettuce(and tomato and onion), delicious fries and a beverage. And all for just $ 7, yes, all that for $ 7. At this place for that same $ 7, you get a pathetically tiny gyro with tasteless sauce, that’s it! I can’t eat onions and don’t care for tomatoes so what I got was greasy meat in a pita with a side cup of sauce. I can’t get over how sad this Gyro was, yet everyone thinks it’s good. Seriously do yourself a favor and go anywhere else for a Gyro. Even Mike’s Drive-in does a better one.

My first few bites of the gyro were incredible, but then I realized that the meat was covered in oil as it was coming out of the bottom of my sandwich. It appears that the meat is kept warm in the food cart in an oil, allowing the flavor to stay in the meat and keeping the meat moist but it could be strained prior to making the sandwich. Nice guy running the cart, but he eats while he is working and has a tendency to talk with his mouth full. That is not very appetizing to me, but some may not care. Pretty good sandwich, great flavor but the oil issue could keep me from returning.

Here, Rich serves traditional Chicago-style, rotisserie-cooked gyros. Yup, on a vertical spit and everything. He invites people to have a sample of the gyro meat(a lamb-beef blend). Just a small piece with some tzatziki. I was the fish and his bait reeled me in. I got a gyro and added feta for an extra dollar($ 8 total). A warm pita gets a nice helping of freshly sliced meat off the spit. Add some sliced onions, tomato, and tzatziki. Gotta have feta in this to make it doubly or triply dangerous. Dangerously delicious. So I nearly burned my hands playing«hot potato» with the gyro. Burns heal. Gyros are forever awesome. I also got a piece of Rich’s baklava($ 1.50) to get a more well-rounded experience. Delicious, tasty, and sticky. There’s a joke in there somewhere. The Gyros Plate($ 10) gets you more gyro meat with some cut-up pita bread. The falafel sandwich($ 7) includes tahini sauce. This is a cash-only food cart for now. The Gyros Spot is open six days a week starting at 11 a.m. The cart is closed on Tuesdays. Another great Portland food cart!

I saw a posting that there was a new cart at Cartlandia with Greek delights, and new I needed to check it out during my weekly visit! The guy just opened, so cash only at this point. Solid meal. The meat was cooked and seasoned well and the tzatiki was some of the best I’ve had in Portland. There was a bit more onions than I would have cared for, would have prefered some fresh cucumber or shredded lettuce for the same lightness effect without all the onion flavor. I love onions, just a shy too much for me. It was a little messy, but nothing unusual. The owner/operator I spoke with was friendly and helpful — he even let me try a sample of the meat/sauce prior to committing. The price was $ 8 for a gyro sandwich with feta($ 7 + $ 1 for feta). Not complete unreasonable, but not the best either. The sandwich however, was extremely satisfying — I feel full, but not so full that I want to pass out at my desk, which is good. I’ll definitely be coming back to try the falafel or even just a greek salad. With this cart being so new, I think he’ll get into the swing of things before you know it and I may have to up my review at that point.
