This place has an entire section of the menu devoted to vegetarian and vegan food! Great beer selection as well and it’s cool how they serve shortys for trying out different ones.

Six stars! :) So I wasn’t going to do a review this time, but alas I must due to the exceptional service I received from bartender Shannon as well as other staff here. I just finished a big test at school, it’s accurate to say today was a stressful one for me. I had a Miami Ice martini and an appetizers. Shannon’s service was really exemplary; she remembered my name, was courteous and professional. She was poised, polite and just a notch above most in her industry. Oh and the drink was(is) amazing! Hat’s off to Yard House.

I would call The Yard House a Sports Bar at the top of it’s game. Located in congested downtown Portland but there is street parking if you can find it and always parking garages close by. The customer service here is spot on. The restaurant is two stories with the main bar on the bottom floor. There is both stair and elevator access. When you enter on the upper floor you have a choice of dining on either floor. The menu here is extensive… Meats are flame broiled for the most part. The menu has a wide variety of items soups, salads, sandwiches, pasta, steaks, seafood and so on. The cocktail menu is large. Prices here are moderate. We tried the bacon cheeseburger cooked to your liking and served with shoestring fries. For an up charge you can get other sides such as sweet potato fries. We also ordered shrimp ceviche which was served with thin pita. The place was pretty busy but our order was received promptly. Both items were cooked perfectly, decent size portions and very delicious. So the next time you are in downtown Portland by Pioneer Square and you find yourself hungry check this place out.

I just don’t get why they’re called yard house. It seems more like meter house to me. I’d rate it 5⁄7. Also, my intention of using the restroom was completely innocent & purely from human need. To my surprise, I was unable to fully & thoroughly cleanse my hands because I turned on the faucet ANDTHEFREAKINGICECAPSPEWEDOUTBECAUSEITWAS, to my calculation, THIRTYTHREEDEGREESFAHRENHEIT. That’ll be all. Also, the food hasn’t even come yet, but based on the name of this so-called«restaurant»(which makes absolutely no sense as we previously mentioned) and the highly inappropriate temperature of the bathroom water, I’m just going to go out on a limb here and say the food is going to taste not so great.

Highly recommended! Lamb burger was spicy, creamy, melt in your mouth delicious! Drinks were strong and good! Loved the vibe of this place! Dim lighting, good music and sports games on the televisions! Open concept!

The food is excellent. They have an incredible variety and just about everything I’ve ever tried or anyone that has gone with me has tried, has been really good and tasty. That said, their service this last time was pretty shitty. It hasn’t been in the past so I don’t know if they’re losing their quality people or if it was just a bad night. Seats were covered in grease, and the hostess seemed miffed when I nicely asked her to wipe them down for us. Food was ice cold when it came out– like not even a little bit warm. On top of it, they mixed up our leftovers and I went home with my friend’s food. There were other various bouts of incompetence I’m not going to bother to mention. Step it up, YardHouse.

Food: The truffle fries were definitely the highlight of the meal. I could have been happy with just a bowl of them and a side salad. The only problem was is that the salad that one of my dining companions ordered came with the paper lid of the salad dressing(also know as garbage) on the salad. I know that these types of mistakes happen, but it doesn’t make for a very appetizing presentation. I would recommend the banana crème brulee, a refreshing take on the classic dish. The mac and cheese I ordered didn’t taste fresh, nor the $ 15 lobster as a side tasted fresh either, it was dry and flavorless. Atmosphere: The Yard house was difficult to find in Washington square, but once you got there is has an appealing vibe, nice dark colors, and bright artwork. I would describe it as a upscale sports bar. Service: The server was excellent, attentive and accommodating as we had a large group that didn’t sit all and once so she had to work at keep getting drink orders. She also made great recommendations and was friendly and talkative.

This place is always a good joint for some beers and food. The food is pretty delicious. I have the ahi poke bowl all the time I come here. I remember the tacos being pretty decent too. They got tvs all over the place unfortunately the tvs don’t play sound. Regardless I’d come here if you want some good grub Nothing too fancy just some variety of pub food.

When walking up to the location in Portland, I felt like I was going somewhere SUPERFANCY. But luckily I was dressed, in my ripped jeans and tank just fine. The location is odd for this place. I have been here a few times and it seems too«dark». Like they are trying to be a cross between Stanford’s and Buffalo Wild Wings. Don’t get me wrong, I love both those restaurants, the lights just need to be turned up. Our party of 6 came in with no reservation on a Wednesday night and maybe waited 5 minutes. The host staff was kind of frantic and unorganized but maybe there was a shift change. Hubbs ordered something on draft and I had the delicious Ace Pineapple Cider. I actually had 3 of them to be exact. HH was great, HUGE portions and very delicious. We had the Chicken Lettuce Wraps and the Chicken Nachos(which were ginormous) and wings. Food is a 4.5 star. Service on the other hand… needs some help. Like I said earlier, the host staff was frantic, and the server forgot some of or order. We asked a few times for water, the runners brought us the wrong food … twice. We also had to ask him about our drinks that took about 15 min after we ordered. I would be nervous to go on a Friday or Saturday night. 3.5 stars total that I will round up to 4 because of the Food and drink. Better luck sitting AT the bar? We shall see!

Usually a restaurant that has a menu with too many choices to count isn’t a great choice. Jack of all trades, master of none, right? But every single thing I have ordered from this restaurant has been really good. This is way better quality food than other chain restaurants. At most places I frequent, I stick to my one item I like a lot so that I will always leave happy, but they have so much on their menu that sounds delicious and ends up being delicious so I end up ordering something different every time because I want to try it all! My favorites are the fried chicken breast meals. There’s an original one, and a Nashville one. Both are great but I like my food to have a little kick so the spicy Nashville option is my favorite, and it comes with this sweet honey hot sauce to pour over the side of sweet potato pancakes that are oh so good. It’s a fancy version of chicken and waffles basically. They always have great service, servers who know the menu and have actually tried everything so that they can give you real opinions and suggestions, great prices and great drinks. Speaking of drinks, the Hawaiian mule or the Brazilian lemonade are my favorite. If not everyone in your dinner party can decide what sounds good to eat tonight, come here because they seriously have something for everyone. So many different choices and all good! I don’t have one where I live so every time I travel for work in a bigger city, I find one!

Love the atmosphere here. They have a large menu with a lot of varieties to choose from. The food is wonderful. I definitely like the quality of this place. The service was great. Perfect place to go eat before exploring the waterfront. I love that I can pick and choose whatever it is that I’m in the mood for, they would mostly like have it!

The pros: Food was really good! We had a few appetizers during the duck game, and both were nice upscale bar food. Exactly what we were expecting. The cocktails were also very good! Mixed well, great flavor :) The cons: Service was bad. We arrived an hour before the duck game, and I asked our waitress if the TV and sound would be turned on. Without warning she flipped out and told me to calm down and she would see what she could do. Geez lady! Was just asking! The yard glasses for the beers need to be replaced. Ours were all warped on the bottom making them rock back and forth when set down… We had to hold our beers up right the whole time. Kind of annoying.

I’ve always heard great things about the Yard House in Seattle, so when my brother decided on this place for lunch I was rather intrigued. Came by on a Friday afternoon around 2:30pm. We did not have to wait for a table. This restaurant is huge; two floors, with majority of the seating on the bottom floor. Very wide open, with a huge bar in the center, and a good amount of large TV’s around. Our sever was very quick to the table and very attentive. We both ordered the lunch combos — he got a Caesar Salad and a ½ Margherita Pizza, and I got a Caesar Salad and a ½ Roast Turkey Club. His pizza was pretty good size for being a «½,» as was my sandwich — it was huge! The salads were your basic Caesars, they were good. The sandwich was really good and filling, I would definitely have it again. Service was pretty spot on, over the top even. We had 6 different servers check on us after we received our food. We never had to ask for anything. Will definitely stop by next time I am in Portland, or will just check out the Seattle location and hope for the same food/service quality I received here.

I went there for lunch with my wife & daughter. Let me start with the positive: Nice atmosphere Great beer selection Friendly wait staff Now let’s get down to the bad: Waited over an hour to get our food. For lunch… Once it finally came everything was cold. I’m not talking Luke warm… full cold. Children buttered noodles Baja fish tacos Chicken tacos Then there was the fish… horrible! So much so that the table next to us had the fish and chips… And they sent it back also. The server did remove it from the bill… But the worst fish I have ever had… I ate ¾ of one fish tacos and pray I don’t get sick in the next 6 hours… Total lunch dining experience was 1:45 minutes… Way to long for lunch. I will never be back.

Okay so I’m not such a big fan of chain restaurants when it comes to top reviews. This one stands out, though. Like most other Yard House locations, it does have an amazing bar loaded with draught beers, mostly craft beers. Another point that sets this location apart from others is it’s section of Gardein meals — -basically vegetarian and vegan friendly dishes which look and taste like real chicken or fish or even beef. They also have an interesting selection of sushi and rolls. So for appetizers, our group started off with the typical Calamari as well as Lobster Crab and Artichoke Dip. The dip was tasty— not too much on the crab or lobster, but did have a nice flavor. The calamari would be typical of a chain restaurant in that it was quite breaded and a bit salty. For my main course, I had the Gardein Rice Bowl which tasted like fried chicken strips over rice. Very flavorful and high in protein. My colleague ordered the seared Ahi Sushimi which looked amazing. For craft/draught beer, if you like high ABV or hoppy style brews, I recommend the Ninkasi Tricerahops Double IPA. I also liked the Elysian Dragonstooth. They carried Brooklyn beer, but none from Grand Rapids. And, of course, plenty of craft beer brewed in Portland.

Came to grab some food with a friend when we were downtown and stumbled upon this place. The atmosphere is urban and cool– dimmed lights and modern furniture. Our waiter was very nice and gave us good seats. This place is pretty busy. They have a bar and tvs so you can come watch the game if you’d like. We ordered a burger and a salad. The food came quickly and looked delicious! It tasted great– I really enjoyed it. This place is like red robin but the upscale classier and better version. I really enjoyed this place and will definitely be back.

This place is a dark cave hidden in the bowels of downtown Portland. The tap list is extensive and they have most liquor options. The menu is ok, plenty of diverse choices. A little on the pricey side for what you’re getting. Happy Hour is the best bet. On Tuesday night when we were there, the service was very slow. Server did not check on us so we had to track her down to get more drinks or order more apps. It is a sports bar, so plenty of big screens in the corners to watch what ever sports match is on, but not overbearing for those not interested. I would recommend it for the fall, when it does not matter you are in a windowless basement. When the sun is out — I prefer above ground and outside enjoying the weather.

I’m giving this 4& not 3 because it exceeded my expectations – which were low to none based on reading the reviews here. The food was actually pretty tasty. We were a birthday party of 8. The waitress was friendly & attentive our whole time there. However, she did kind of give attitude at the end when we split the check up ourselves by writing our bank card name next to each item on the receipt. No biggie! As a group, we ordered the nachos &2 orders of the Mu Shu chicken egg rolls to share. The nachos, THEYREHUGE. 8 people ate comfortably from it. And the egg rolls were actually really good & something I would order again. I ordered the Cracked Pepper Gorgonzola burger with garlic crimini mushrooms & caramelized onions. It was, eh. It wasn’t bad but I’ve had better burgers. I would order it again, though. The mushrooms & caramelized onions had delicious flavor. Oh! I also ordered garlic Parmesan fries– really, really good & full of flavor. My birthday friend ordered a «beer float» & it wasn’t so great – not $ 8 worth great. The cool thing, though, they give you a soufflé on the house for your birthday! It was a nice gesture. Overall, I had a good experience, good service from our waitress & other servers & hostess. The food wasn’t bad; all was pretty good. Nothing negative happened & left full & happy.

I love the Yard House and have been to several across the country. The last time I was in Portland, this wasn’t here yet so I was excited to break the news to my guy and stop in for some drinks. We stopped in for a beer prior to our movie and it was a full house. Football on all around the bar and packed. We managed to get in a Belgian and a Burnside Sweet Heat before we had to go. When we stopped back in later, the place was nearly empty and we sat at the bar. My guy ordered a Belgian Sampler and I ordered a Skinny Gin Cocktail that had strawberries lime and mint. Very refreshing. I love the local beers and the imports from around the world. It always gives you something to look forward to trying the next time and in the next location.
