This was the first dentist I tried, on a recommendation from a coworker. It was rather far from where I lived, but I figured that a reliable dentist would be worth the drive. Boy, was I in for a rude awakening. This dental office is more like a Chinese style processing plant. All the patients are squeezed together in a giant room with thin barriers separating them. It’s quite noisy, and not calming at all. The second black mark is in regards to Dr. Liu herself, who comes off as pushy and domineering. She’s not the kind of doctor that likes it when her patients ask questions about the necessity of certain procedures; she’s obviously accustomed to getting her way with middle aged Asians who automatically defer to her expertise. I had already gotten an x-ray from my previous dentist(back home in Arizona) that year, and did not want another one so soon(offering to have the old office send them over in the future), but the doctor wouldn’t have any of that, and went ahead with the procedure. I probably should have just gotten up and left at that point, but I suppose my Asian blood made me cower from the authoritative voice of an elder. The worst part was that the dental assistant assured me that xrays were not harmful and that it was like tickling me on the inside. I just gave her a blank stare and suppressed the urge to facepalm. The doctor also said I needed a couple cavity fillings, which I managed to defer to «next time»(AKA never) so that I could get a second opinion. According to the other dentist, I didn’t have any cavities, soooo… yeah, fishy. Definitely not coming here again. I’m sure Dr. Liu is fine for routine children’s cleanings and is probably more forthcoming with Mandarin speakers, but if you don’t fall into any of these categories, I’d advise that you save yourself the trauma and avoid this place.
