Called to see if there was availability for a full leg wax and was told that if I came within 15 minutes I could be helped. Despite the bad directions I was given, I arrived within 10 minutes and waited for probably another 10, filling out forms. When I got to the room I was told that she only had time for an eyebrow wax. I told her that the receptionist knew what I was looking for and told me if I could come right away there would be time. So having reversed my directions and changed my plans for the next hour and a half, I now find myself looking for a Waxing Salon in this area with a receptionist who can actually be helpful. A receptionist job shouldn’t be that difficult to fill!

Jennae is the best. Go see her if you want amazing hair. You will not be disappointed!

I absolutely never cut my hair due to the fact that so many places have a tendency to chop it all off. I was looking for a place that was close to my work and I requested to only have a bang trim. The service was excellent, friendly, and was done in a timely manner. When I went to pay, she told me that bangs are free and that I didn’t owe anything. I was shocked, as I have never been to a place that didn’t charge for bangs. I left a tip and would definitely go back again.

Cute salon! Erica is my talented colorist and she gives the most relaxing shampoo head massage ever! Products include Redken and Pureology, my favs!

Rachel is no longer at Sunshine. No problem, she moved just down the street. Less busy, more of an intimate experience. Call her and make an apt at

In the heart of Poway across the street from the library. Plenty of parking (lot continues in the back). First visit here. I had a haircut appointment with Kashmir Loveless. She was wonderful. She really to time to listen to me and look at my hair. She gave me a great haircut and style. Lovely salon, I will definitely go back for other services as well.

I am happy with Hana’s style and ability to protect the length my very long hair that has taken me 22+ years to grow out. She can cut the disconnected layers I like and isn’t afraid to «color outside the lines» so to speak with regard to her cutting style — if that’s what you want her to do. I’ve seen her with many other clients and she is also skilled at more traditional cuts and styles. She seems well rounded and a good choice no matter what cut you prefer. Before I started going to Hana, I saw Rachel here. She’s no longer with Sunshine though and although I have seen her at her new location, I’m at Sunshine a lot more because of waxing and other family members, so it keeps it simple and all in one spot.
My daughter sees Tina, the owner, who did a fantastic cut recently for her.

My daughter and I both see Chanel for our waxing needs. She’s friendly, quick, gentle, uses quality wax, and is well skilled at her trade. She’s got her own private room that has a serene and zen feeling to it. A good aesthetician is hard to find, and she’s fantastic!
We have not had any chemical services here, but I know from discussion that they have a few color specialists and someone who does perms.
I have not had a mani or pedi here, but I hope to do that at some point.
This shop is clean and sanitary, and being a licensed cosmetologist myself, it’s something I value highly.

The décor is beautiful and comfortable.
The receptionist, Alicia, is super sweet, helpful, and friendly. She also has an uncanny ability to remember your name, even if she’s only met you once. She’s a keeper for sure.

Chanel gave me an underarm wax today, after only 1 week since my last wax. My hair was a little short so I expected only some of the hair to come out but she got every single hair out and this is so far the best wax I’ve ever had. She explained a lot to me about waxing other areas and types of wax and hair growth cycles and answered all my questions. And she only charges $ 15. I would highly recommend her!

Last week I went in to get my hair cut and styled. I had just moved here and this was the second place I’ve tried since I moved here. Guess I will keep trying places til I find one that will actually cut my hair the way I like it. Erica was my stylist. I thought for 45 $ I should get a lot more hair cut. She barely cut it and acted like she was afraid to use the clippers as I lobe my hair pretty short. I have a short hair cut. The cost should not be 45 $ and walk out unhappy. Tonight I try another place. All in the same week. So disappointed.

Hana is fantastic! Got a recommendation from a friend for her and I couldn’t have been happier. She is super friendly, very up front with advice and intentions for the haircut and we have all had that horrible haircut experience so having that kind of confidence and communication was very important. Will be going back for sure!

I moved to San Diego 9 years ago and have been searching for the perfect salon for me. Finally, in April of this past year, I tried Sunshine Hair Design and found my place! I was introduced to Teri, where she spent some initial time talking to me and analyzing my hair and options for styles and highlights. I found out from Teri that previous stylists had been using a bleach based color to highlight my hair and it was fried! She used a non bleach products for highlights and I am already seeing an amazing difference in my hair. I have been to see Teri a few times now and she is always telling me tips and techniques, products to use (with no pressure to purchase), and the prices are reasonable. Sunshine also offers many other services, which I haven’t used, but will be trying in the near future.

I came with my mom to first get our pedicure done and we fell in love with Kathy’s exceptional and detailed job! She has amazing service and makes you feel right at home. The entire atmosphere is like no other salon I have been to and their positive and kind service can not compare to others. We have gone to also get our manicures done and the Keratin treatment as well within the same week! Finally, we have a favorite salon and spa that we can recommend to other friends and family members where we know the service, quality, and atmosphere is worth the expense and time!

Kashmir has been doing my hair for a couple of years now. She is so fantastic with color! I have very platinum hair and since she has been my stylist my hair has been at its healthiest and strongest. She pays incredible attention to detail and has given me many different cuts that all looked great. She is very patient with my experimentation and has always delivered top notch service… If only I could make my hair look as good as it does when she’s finished with it — but then that is why I go to her. You should too, you won’t be disappointed!!!

Hana has been my go-​to hair stylist for over 5 years now. She is awesome and I would highly recommend her. She also did my hair along with bridesmaids/​mothers for my wedding day and she rocked it. Very consistent and happy with my hair every time!

This is a wonderful salon and spa. I have been going here for several years and just adore Nicole. My whole family goes to her now. She is a very talented young woman! Additionally, when she was on maternity leave and/​or my schedule didn’t match with hers, the people (Lucy and Teri) I had fill in for her were equally wonderful.
THEN, there is Kathy, who does perfect manicures and pedicures. She is fun to talk to, besides.
ALSO, there’s the salon. Chanel and Melanie are spectacular and I just can’t say enough about how pleased I am that I found this salon, a real treasure hidden in the corner of the stripe mall across from Poway Library.

Hana is the best! I hired her to do my wedding day hair and she did not disappoint. She did my hair, my the bridesmaids, my mom, and my mother in law’s hair. We all looked amazing. Plus she is just the sweetest person ever! I highly recommend going to see Hana for your updo needs.

Now that you’ve got the highlights, here’s the real scoop: I have been seeing Cathy for more than half my life and she has taken care of all my nail needs! She does a top quality job and is very personable and most of all meticulous and clean. Ladies, (and gentleman), treat yourself to Cathy. She has been in the business a long time and keeps up on the latest trends. Gels/​acrylic, shellac. She’s your girl. You deserve it.

Sunshine is as good as it gets! Melanie M does my brows so perfect. to the T. just how I like it! Luci has been doing my hair for years now and i wouldn’t have it any other way. Luci and Melanie are very professional and know just what the client wants. I love Luci’s color technique. my hair is long and thick and i always leave sunshine feeling refreshed. my hair stays shiny and vibrant for months! Melanie keeps my brows perfectly tamed and natural and thick looking, just how i like it. make sure you call ahead to make an appt. these girls book up quick!

This is my go-​to salon for whenever I’m back home in San Diego visiting the parentals and friends. Melanie has great and steady hands which is Número uno in my book for an esthetician. I trust her to wax me properly and as painless as… well as painless as waxing can be. ;)
Hana fits me in for highlights, cut and style whenever I fly down and I appreciate that she does since I’m horrible at figuring out when it is I’m coming down from the bay area. :) This review has been a long time in the making as I’ve been coming here off and on for 5 years now.
BTW-​Parking is tight-​especially with all the little stores in the center –the salon can be easily missed. Pricepoint is moderate but won’t break the bank. Bring Cash but they accept cards too.

Jennnae did my hair color and it was super professional. She corrected my hair color and did highlights in the front.
I do not know if I can say «pricey» because all depends of the money you are willing to spend. But rest assure that if you can afford at least once in a while a pro like this lady, pay the money so you can compare what you get for less.
For hair cut my favorite is Lisa.
When I have been there I have seen many clients with long beautiful hair and ladies with short hair in modern styles.
