I was very disappointed with the customer service here. I went to the store hoping they could complete a framing job for me. Upon entering and talking to the person at the counter, she told me she could be with me in a little bit, but had to send an email first. Perhaps my viewpoint is in the minority here, but I would always think tending to a customer physically present in your store now is more important than sending an email to someone. I imagine it is the rare case where there is a framing emergency requiring the sending of an email to someone that could not wait 15 minutes. Then when the attendant did indicate that she would help me, someone else walks in the store. I am then told that this person who has arrived after me needs to be tended to first and I would have to wait 15 minutes or so. Again, unless I am missing something, under what theory does someone stop helping Customer 1 to help Customer 2? It is unfortunate because I think the reasoning was that Customer 2 was older, well dressed, and perceived to be a more valuable customer. After being told to wait while Customer 2 was tended to, I left the store and went to another shop that was very friendly. That shop got the current framing job and will get all others going forward.

The triangle art scene is pretty surprising. I never cease to be amazed at the creativity of the resident artists as well as the ability of the community to attract artists from outside the area. The Little Art Gallery is not the biggest place out there, but they manage to pack in a lot of variety. I found the most amazing soaps fashioned like quartz, amber, and other minerals — they looked exactly like the stones they were meant to resemble. And the bas relief-like wall art — the three dimensional piece of a country road, complete with barn, horse, and fence — was spectacular. Maybe other collections have similar pieces, but I hadn’t seen anything quite like it before. Several mediums and styles are represented even if in a small way. And unlike other, larger, places, you don’t have to spend a lot to own something as there were some smaller, relatively inexpensive items that would be great stocking stuffers.
