The food was fabulous, the ambiance was good but could have been improved if the fireplaces were working. The only hiccup(and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars) was that my husband’s food was served way before mine was delivered. We will try it again for sure.

So, after reading a new review from Folsom post of the new ownership, lower pricing and new menu items, I was intrigued. We started off with zucchini fried things, it was like a commercial spinach dip breaded and fried, no bueno. Main course was a house burger. I ordered medium rare, absolutely no pink what so ever… WAYOVERCOOKED… We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly with regulars, but bare minimum service for us, basically flat out rude… She didn’t ask on how our meal was, spent more time yelling at back of the house staff with drama, again no Bueno… Food was good, service sucked… Pricing same as ever as the menu, no changes here… MYCALLSKIPTHISPLACE, NEWOWNERDIDN’T CHANGEANYTHINGEXCEPTHIREDLAZYUN-ATTENTIVESTAFF.

While on business travel walked in around 9:30pm mind you the door was unlocked. The bar tender proceeded to tell me they were closed and could not serve me. Meanwhile there are at least 8 – 10 other patrons seated at the bar eating and drinking . It is fine if you are closed, but lock the door and don’t continue to serve others.

Not worth my time or money. Started off with cold coffee and The excuse was that the kitchen was cold so therefore the coffee is cold. Really!!! I ordered the steak sandwich med rare. This puppy was so tuff I couldn’t eve cut it with a steak knife, I wanted to ask what kind of meat it was but I never saw the server until the check was put on the table. Hubby cajun chicken sandwich was also dry and tuff. Don’t know if it was sitting in the window for a long time for what! This is the third time coming to this place with unhappy results. Not again!

This was my first opportunity to eat here and it was for my company’s Post Holiday Sales Kickoff dinner. We had approximately 40 people in attendance from all over the country. With so many people in our party the company worked out a selection of 4 dishes to choose from. 10 oz Prime Rib 8 oz Grilled Filet Mignon Grilled Wild Salmon 3 Mushroom Risotto Braised Chicken Mornay All of these dishes looked amazing. I opted for the 10 oz Prime Rib, which looks much larger. It was services with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. It was so large I was only able to eat half of it and had the other half for lunch the day after. It was seasoned very well and was full of flavor, even better the day after. I heard many of the other dishes were very good as well. With 40 people in our party we had 2 servers, which worked out as best as it could but we could’ve used about 4 servers. Aside from that the service was as good as could be expected. They have a full bar which was well stocked. The ambience was a little loud but with the size of our party, what do you expect. I will certainly be bringing my family back here to have dinner. I highly recommend this place.

Watch your price charged on your receipt. Each member in our party was charged $ 3.00 over menu price, each drink at the bar was .50 over charged. When we asked the server she stated«I just serve, I’m not in charge of the price. I guess they think most people won’t catch it. What a scam!

Wanted to stop by and check the place out since I had heard so much about it. I sat at the bar, for fifteen minutes totally ignored, while the bartender seemed clueless. I was looking for a place to hold my company Christmas party, and was very disappointed. I sent an email to them, letting them know of my experience, with the hope of giving them a second chance, but I didn’t hear back. Some places just don’t get it…

My colleagues and I came here for a work holiday lunch and I was highly disappointed. We «pre-ordered» our food days ahead and had the reservation a month ahead and we still had to wait over an hour for our food. I had the Beet Salad with Chicken which was actually quite good, but I will never come back. I had ordered no avocado because I’m allergic, but the salad came with avocado. Instead of making a new one, they just took the avocado off and brought right out again. So, I had to wait even longer for a new salad. It was good, though. It only made matters worse that the wait staff rarely came by to fill drinks and that the hostess and owner did little to address the situation other than the owner saying, «We’re busy» and the hostess saying, «If there’s anything I can do .» but not actually doing anything(and they comp’d one entrée out of 12 entrées). There were also other large parties next to us that weren’t being served in a timely manner. I can’t imagine how a restaurant can be so poorly equipped for holiday parties, especially when they give the option of pre-ordering food. All I ever ask for when things go wrong is for the establishment to take responsibility and correct the situation. That didn’t happen. It’s unfortunate because I did like my food, but, like I said, I’m never coming back.

Its ok. Didnt get to explore cause I came here for a Company dinner. Dinners are already pre-selected so I dod not see a menu. I might simply be a burger joint kind of guy. Anyways, drinks are great. And I can recommend this place for the drinks and sports games on the tv’s. Staff seemed cool. One of them talks alot. But he is ok. Its kinda upscale. Dim lighting. Classy appetizers. Location isnt the greatest.

This place is awesome. We alway sit at the bar and no issue even when it is busy. The Mac with bacon is the cats pajamas!!! Fried pork belly is delish and fire rock burger and sliders are rip my arms off and beat me good. Shawn and Melissa are our bartenders they are both great. You will never have a bad experience here. If you do then you are the bad experience. Eat at the best or get take out with the rest.

I came here after work for some happy hour drinks… Or shall I say drink. We grabbed a table near the bar… After sitting there and not getting recognized by anyone, we ordered drinks at the bar. Drinks were good! After we finished those, naturally we wanted another and some appetizers. The bartender was walking around serving other tables, but ignored us. I had to call him over to order more. The appetizers were good, and we got round two out drinks. That’s all we got for the next hour!!! We saw two tables come and go and our server NEVER came by! The server for the other tables simply ignored us too! Wtf? All of our drinks were empty and all of our plates were finished! Why didn’t anyone ask us for more? I know I would’ve gotten more drinks and food. A bus boy did come by at one point and only cleared 3 of the 5 plates… Weird, why didn’t he take all of them or come back later? We all thought about just leaving without paying — would they even see us then? But morally we couldn’t… We had to go up to the bartender to get our bill. He didn’t even ask who is paying for the food. One of us got the full food part, while the rest of us only paid for our drinks. The bill didn’t even sure what we got, so it was difficult to see how much we owed. Come on! This is 2015 — every place does this, even taco bell! Ugh We were ignored and I’m going to have to ignore this place too. I can stand shitty food, but shitty service is where I draw the line. Good luck Fire Rock, you’ve lost my business and everyone I talk to.

Here’s why we’ll never eat here again: Chicken looked, tasted, and felt like it was microwaved frozen and put in the pan for color. Sent it back and was still charged $ 20 for the mashed potatoes and chopped vegetable mess. Bbq sauce tastes like shrimp cocktail sauce. Was asked if I wanted soup or salad. Chose salad. Charged $ 7 for the salad! I already had caviche. I don’t need to buy a damn salad.

I’ll never go here again. I went for a retirement party with about 70 guests. The room was large and fit everyone but it bordered high tops and the bar. We had to go to the bar to order drinks, which it was packed with regular clients during happy hour. Given that we had such a large party, I would think they would have something separate for us. After happy hour was winding down, two of my friends and I went to the bar to order drinks and they basically ignored us for 15 mins even though it wasn’t that busy at that point. I asked to see a drink menu– the bartender said– I guess you’re thirsty? Gave us the menu and didn’t check back with us. While waiting, we were sitting next to a person who was totally hammered. The guy should have been cut off. When the bartender finally came back, we asked for two cocktails. He proceeded to tell another bartender to make them while he poured beers. During the time while we waited they never acknowledged us even though we were standing right in front of them… the cocktails were too sugary and undrinkable. Food– I understand that it is difficult to serve dinner to so many guests. However, I was the last one served. I pre ordered the risotto plate. They ran out and forgot to save a plate for me. I had to wait for them to make more, which took about 30 mins… The waitress didn’t offer me anything to eat while waiting until I told her that I am diabetic. She then brought me bread. Lastly, don’t go in to the women’s bathroom at the end of the night. The garbage was overflowing and there was toilet paper on the ground. Sad part is that 2 staff were walking out of the restroom while I was walking in. I guess its not there job to clean up the restroom? I’ll never go back to this place. Of the whole experience, the bar was the worst. The bartenders were stuck up and sucked at customer service.

This establishment used to be the Sheepherders inn. We may have only hit twice in my lifetime. I happened to see an advertisement for live jazz entertainment that was the right night and right time so I said why not? When we first got here we couldn’t even park in their lot as it was filled up so we parked right next door. My HB noticed a business above the restaurant. Massage anyone? Anyhoo…we made it inside and was guided to our table. We sat around awhile… I made the decision to go ahead and order appetizers even though I had eaten something light for dinner already. We got the Italian meatballs which was heavy on the red/cheese sauce. I won’t order that again. Also the mac n cheese was quite flavorful and plentiful. It included bits of bacon. My HB and I shared both dishes. Thank goodness as it would have been too much for me alone! The jazz show we thought was supposed to start at 630 but ended up starting at 730. On the positive note our waiter was working it tonight! Despite the crowded room our food only took 20 minutes to show. They refilled our waters constantly. We actually had to share a table with a very classy sweet lady who got up for me when the photographers were in the way as they stood right in front of me. They finally moved after Carrie said something & I shouted out Thank you!!! So did the gal behind me shouted out the same words even though she sat a higher bar-height table. The entertainment was wonderful. Young Man Old Soul Big Mike did his thing with the guitar and it was magical. Michael Hart Junior is only 26 and very gifted. He brought us back to the 60s and then up to present time music. He can really bring it! HIs uncle introduced him to us plus sang as well as Big Mike’s cousin. It was definitely a huge family affair. Felt really fortunate to take advantage of this as this was his CD release party. Both shows were sold out that night too. I’m sure we would be back as we enjoyed the jazz entertainment, food and ambiance. Give it a try. You don’t know what you are missing!!! Sacramento has always needed something like this for a long time! Got to support young people’s music for sure! Check out Fire Rock Grill’s website for the entertainment. I saw that Ronnie Laws is coming February 13th. I remembered him back in the day when I was really into jazz. You know back in the days with Grover Washington, Herbie Hancock, Stanley Turrentine, etc. Need I say more? Enjoy!!!

Had the fish and chips. Food was mediocre. There were several larger parties happening while we were there so service was so so. Chowder that my friend had was good. I’d like to go back and give it a try for dinner. Ambience was nice and good location.

Lots of good stuff The menu is pretty cool and has some tasty stuff. Various Mac & Cheese dishes which are always a favorite of mine. Crab Cakes, Wings … and some great Desserts also. Not a place to go if you are in a hurry. The food takes a while; which is fine since it’s pretty unique stuff. The service in general is a bit slow. Not sure why, they seem to have enough staff but the servers pass empty drinks more than I like and could stop by the tables more often. Overall a good place to visit.

We LOVE Fire Rock Grill! Their $ 5 margaritas during happy hour are to die for. Made with fresh lime, they are crisp and tangy. My hubby ordered the burger at $ 13 and I ordered a grilled portobello sandwich(not on the menu but the chef made one for me) for $ 12. Both came with fries. The entrees and fries were piping hot when delivered and oh-so-good! This was probably the best portobello sandwich I’ve ever had. It was served on a ciabatta-style roll which was the perfect texture and FRESH… but not flimsy. I like my sandwiches neat –not wet and sloppy. This was made with care and had roasted red pepper and onions in addition to the portobello. Our server was Dessah and she was fabulous. Service was prompt and on point. She even brought my hubby a refill for his soda without us asking. Dessah also brought the pooch a bowl of water and that’s always a plus in my book. Her professionalism combined with the great food made this a five star experience.
