The dinette tables are often dirty. The floor had chocolate ice cream and other flavors dried and tacky in the main walkways. This place’s success is by default and certainly not quality. The ice cream is much, much better at Baskin Robbins, and Cold Stone has them beat for miles. The butterfat content is far below Trader Joe’s Premium ice cream. The«Hurricaine» has about 5 scoops of ice cream in it. It is on par with the McFlurry. There is room for improvement in cleanliness of tables, customer service, and for crying out loud, add some heavy cream — 36% to the«Ice Cream.» I have no idea why they call this«Homemade» ice cream. In my vast ice cream experience around this country, the creativity displayed in flavors and the lack of quality, pride in organization and cleanliness, does not match any other chain or privately held ice cream shoppe. As far as «Homemade,» the quality does not match for what most people would make at home. I worked in food and beverage for a major hotel chain, and I have decent experience with tasting some really superb food. It would not be fair to compare it to a 5-star Many have commented on the price. I have no problem paying for quality. Since the quality of product has a low-butterfat percentage, the price seem off point.

Love this place! Amazing homemade ice cream and you can definitely taste it. The portion sizes are huge, there are so many different flavors and they are always coming out with different seasonal flavors as well! The workers are very friendly and patient(speaking for when you’re with children) as well.

So good! I got their month flavor: black raspberry. One sample and I was so shocked at how good it was! Great service. Very friendly cashier.

My husband was blown away by the variety of flavors available here. We have recently purchased a new home here and found this place when we decided to Unilocal ice cream spots close to us. As avid coldstone customers, we were sure we would end up driving to Victoria Gardens eventually… NEVER again! This is our new spot! The graham central station, strawberry cheesecake, ore-dough, funky monkey and the sundaes are all amazing! I had him drive up several times when I was craving a specific flavor during our first pregnancy trimester. It has been a pregnant woman’s HEAVEN!!! Way to go, Handel’s!!! We are die hard fans!

Delicious ice cream! Bought the 4 scoop sampler for around $ 5 and it was absolutely worth it! Had the oh so famous Graham Central Station, Blueberry Cobbler, Smore’s, and Cookie Dough. Highly recommend the Graham Central Station and Blueberry Cobbler flavors! They were DELICIOUS! Will definitely come again regularly!

This is by far the best homemade ice cream spot! They have so many different flavor combinations! I love it! They have indoor and outdoor(in the back and front) seating, but the décor isn’t great. The staff is very friendly and seem like they enjoy working there, probably because they get free ice cream! Lol at least, I hope they get free ice cream! xD

I want to give a minus star because I found it pricey but it was so good I can’t. I tried the Blueberry Cobbler, S’mores, Graham Station. I absolutely loved the blueberry cobbler. It had a good after taste, I was sad I didn’t leave that for last. The S’mores was forgettable, you should really opt for the Graham station instead. The Graham tasted just like the cookie. They have so many flavors I’ll def be back to try more.

I typically only come here on Thursdays. Mainly because of they have $ 1.25 per scoop on Thursdays. Despite that rite aid serves ice cream for the same amount or maybe a few cents less, I like to come here because of the ambiance. It’s a cute mom and pop ice cream parlor.

The best homemade ice cream in the area! I love coming to Handels, especially when their scoops are $ 1.25(previously $ 1 scoop Thursday’s). Just be prepared to wait in a line if it is the Thursday special and in the afternoon after students are getting out of class since Chaffey college is right up the street. They get a lot of traffic going through the store but that just proves how good their ice cream is! They’ve updated the store a bit, added more colors and posters. I remember when I first started going here the place looked so bland. I felt like I was in an insane asylum because it was just white walls for days with no color or anything. Alas! The new look has me feeling better. I love the little sayings they have on their walls. And the choices of ice cream goes on forever! They have so many. Even though I still stick to my favorite. Mint chocolate chip. Maybe one day I’ll feel adventurous enough to try other flavors. But for now I’ll stay with my utmost favorite because they make it so good! Five stars!

Want to eat your body weight in Ice Cream? You could quite easily do that here. Some of the portion sizes were bigger than your head. The Ice Cream was very very good. Lot’s of different choices and it’s great to see them scooping out of the newly churned tubs. My family were recently visiting from England and they went here. Yes, they loved it. Not a huge amount of seating but we managed to find a spot, there was a steady stream of customers the entire time we were there. Parking in the center can be a bit challenging, but that isn’t the fault of this place. I would recommend and would go again.

Delany(probably spelled her name wrong) was extremely helpful. As soon as my daughters and I walked in we were greeted with a smile and hello. The seating was clean and the service friendly. This was our first time here and Delany explained how to order, recommended toppings and the servings were HUGE! Ice cream was soooo delicious and big that my daughter and I didn’t finish our order LOL I will be back.

They make the best ice cream! All the ice cream flavors are so creamy and delicious! In my opinion, Graham cracker station and banana cream pie = the best! Note: $ 3.85 for a single scoop, but you can ask for two flavors

My favorite flavor is coconut almond fudge. But every scoop I have sampled is delicious. The ice cream is so decadent and I will come back for more. There was a nice crowd in there tonight, and the staff was very friendly, and gave great service. I highly recommend this place.

I tried the STRAWBERRYFROZENYOGURT(3.5÷5), BLACKRASPBERRYFROZENYOGURT(3.5÷5), and the CHOCOLATEFROZENYOGURT(3⁄5). All of their frozen yogurts use a low fat yogurt base and fresh fruit. The texture is not smooth and creamy like you might be used to at some of the popular froyo chains, but rather much like your classic ice cream. However, the flavors are noticeable different. The fruit based frozen yogurts were sweet but had a certain tartness, and the chocolate frozen yogurt wasn’t too rich. I probably won’t be ordering frozen yogurt from Handel’s again, simply because I prefer the smooth and creamy kind of froyo. I also tried the HOTFUDGEBROWNIESUNDAE(3.5÷5) with BANANACREAMPIEICECREAM(5⁄5), CHOCOLATEICECREAMWITHBROWNIECHUNKS(4⁄5), and GRAHAMCENTRALSTATIONICECREAM(4.5÷5). This was — as expected — very, very sweet. The banana cream pie ice cream really stood out and wins the yum race over all the other flavors I tried. The Graham central station was also delicious. I’m not sure I would ever go out of my way to come back, but Handel’s is definitely going to remain my #1 pick whenever I’m in the area and craving ice cream.

A definite above average ice cream place in rancho. My favorite is graham central station. It’s delightfully graham cracker flavored with sugary cracker bits all strewn throughout with teeny bits of chocolate if I remember correctly. I also had the chocolate which was classically good, and the mint chocolate chip which is okay. I really think Baskin Robin’s mint chocolate chip cannot be beat. The orange sherbert is just okay, very fake-orange tasting. Think the best deal is the 4 scoop sampler, though I can’t remember how much. It’s in a strip plaza next to Corky’s and Trader Joes and there’s plenty of free parking. Prices are relatively cheap. This isn’t my favorite ice cream place but their graham central station is up there. The one thing I find annoying is that for someone that doesn’t come here very frequently a lot of their flavors are just random names. Like, Heavenly Hash, or Spouse like a House, that gives the customer zero clues as to what the flavors may be. Overall, solid, not my fave.

With an overall rating(at the time of this review) of 4.5 stars with nearly 200 reviews and being listed as one of the best top ten ice creams in the U.S., I had real high hopes for this place. This particular Handel’s Ice Cream store is located in a strip mall with Trader Joe’s and plenty of parking(this place is specifically located right next to Corky’s Kitchen & Bakery). I came by here on two occasions with my husband, both on a weekend. The things I tried was: Waffle bowl with 3 scoops of ice cream($ 5.95) — The 3 scoops I got were the heavenly hash, birthday cake and toasted almond. The employee who took my order described the heavenly hash as something similar to rocky road but with marshmallow cream and no almonds. I did like this initially, but really did get quite sick of it after awhile. I also got sick of the toasted almond, but did like that there were slivered almonds in the ice cream. And with the birthday cake(I am such a fan of birthday cake ice cream) was good, but I have had better. Overall on this dessert(which by the way is more than enough for 2 or even 3 people to share), I thought it was just okay and probably would not order these flavors again. Sundae($ 6.25 + $ 0.75 topping) — For the sundae, my husband got the mocha almond fudge with Reese Peanut Butter Cups and chocolate syrup. This sundae was a great size for 2 people to share. I thought the ice cream was a bit rich, but only had a few bites of it. But after awhile, my husband got sick of this and ended up tossing ¼ of it. Strawberry Ice Cream Sandwich($ 2.25) — I like that you can get ice cream sandwiches already packed and ready to go in their freezer. There are other flavors that you can get that include vanilla, chocolate and mint. But I did not like this ice cream sandwich as much. I thought the chocolate sandwich part itself was lacking flavor(my least favorite part of an ice cream sandwich) and wished the sandwich part was made out of a chocolate chip cookie instead. The strawberry ice cream filling itself was good but wished it was stronger in the fruit taste. Also the sandwich part of this cookie really over powered the best part(the ice cream), so with each bite I tasted mostly the dark chocolate sandwich part instead of the main star(you guessed it, the ice cream). Probably wouldn’t get this again. Quart of Strawberry Cheesecake Chunk($ 8) — Of all the things I had tried, I would have to say this was the best. The strawberry cheesecake chunk ice cream is sweet and delicious, everything you would want in a cheesecake(but in ice cream form). It was creamy and really full of flavor. The employee who took my order for this began packing in the ice cream into the paper container. She really packed it in and did not skimp, which I appreciated. But I think $ 8 for ice cream is a bit pricey. In the end, I didn’t think this place really wowed me or my husband. Maybe it could be that I didn’t pick the right flavored ice cream, but I don’t see myself coming back to the IE to see if I am wrong. By the way, there is seating inside and also out. There are also restrooms here as well.

Handel’s is a homemade ice cream shop. There’s only three locations in California. I’ve been to the other location in Upland which was really good. Their other locations are in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Virginia, Florida, and Nevada. Unlike the one in Upland, this location has an indoor seating area. There’s around five tables with two to three chairs each. It’s pretty spacious inside the ice cream shop. They offer a great majority of ice cream flavors. There’s 36 ice cream flavors to choose from in their store. Their handout menu shows that they make over 70 flavors. Many of the flavors are seasonal. They also serve yogurt, sherbets, banana split, sundaes, milkshakes, ice cream cakes, smoothies, and soft drinks. Upon entry, I didn’t see anyone behind the counter. Within a few minutes, the server came out to greet us. I ordered coffee ice cream. The coffee ice cream had the right amount of creaminess and rich coffee flavor to it. Fantastic ice cream! My boyfriend ordered pistachio ice cream. There’s lots of pistachio nuts in the ice cream. My boyfriend enjoyed his ice cream as well. For both ice cream flavors, we had them serve it in a small dish. Super large scoops for both ice cream flavors! The service was warm, attentive, and friendly. So that was a plus. Overall, great ice cream shop. Will be back to try more flavors!

Definitely an ice cream palace NOT to be missed. This homemade ice cream joint offers many flavor options including yogurt, ice cream, and sorbet. Hand-scooped on the spot or packaged for take-home, you choose. They even offer cookie/ice cream sandwiches, sundaes, 4-scoop samplers, and banana splits. We stopped in after eating next door at Corky’s(purposely saving room for the amazingness that is Handel’s). After tasting a few options, boyfriend and I both decided on one of their monthly special flavors — a blend of Samoa/Carmel Delight Girl Scout Cookies, vanilla ice cream, and extra caramel on a cone. Each«scoop» is actually about 3.5 scoops, so they provided us with a cup, in case we couldn’t eat it fast enough. Nothing short of incredible! Well worth a drive if you live far away or on your way to the mountains.
