I was so incredibly disappointed. The coffee is local and delicious which I love, but the food, drink, and service was horrible. I ordered the Prairie power smoothie and it tasted like a watered down salad. I also asked for a salad without meat, the cashier suggested a Caesar salad(which I presumed was vegetarian since she suggested it). A different worker brought the salad out with a heap of chicken. I explained that I thought the salad came without meat and she rudely commented that you must specify(obviously) and awkwardly stared at me until she asked if I wanted her to bring it back and I said yes. She said nothing and stomped away with my plate. She came back with the same plate that she had quite clearly just pulled the chicken off of. The cheese was all on the bottom soaked in meat juice. I also ended up paying 14 dollars for shit service, a salad that I couldn’t eat, and a hardly palatable smoothie.

Meh… it’s like Hipsterbucks. Just overpriced coffee and smoothies. Took the Mrs there(she likes it) for a morning coffee and pastry. Coffee was meh, and my caramel roll was rock hard. Like I said, it’s just another Hipsterbucks

Nice place. Quiche and salad were good. Decent coffee and smoothies. Came here for lunch so they were very busy and food took a little bit longer, but still okay wait. Would always go here again.

It gets three stars because there are very few choices in Rapid city. We’re a family of 4 and all got a different breakfast, including a smoothie. Except for the oatmeal, which was good, everything was ho hum. An example is the breakfast wraps are made ahead of time and it shows. Beautiful coffee shop in a nice location.

This place is rated way too low. Excellent coffe shop(coming from a New Yorker) and their smoothies used real, not frozen, fruits. Winner!

The people working here had a whatever attitude, like they are not really worried about customer satisfaction. I checked I’m on Unilocal which says you get a 10% dicount on a drink I showed it while ordering the cashier said ok, guess what no discout. Then to top it off didn’t even make the smoothie I ordered, the one they gave me is pretty good but it’s not what I ordered. I would suggest finding a place that cares a bit more about the customers.

Why all the snotty reviews? We are visiting from South Carolina and this is a nice, friendly coffee shop — we had a great latte and chai and two pastries. They make lots of sandwiches and seem perfectly willing to accommodate requests.

One of my favorite coffee & boba place to go to. the location is quite nice, during winter they have an ice rank near by where you and your family can hangout and enjoy while drinking a nice warm coffee, tea, or boba drink!

I would give this a 4 star but because of location I am not a big fan, I think it had a better location when it was down the street located to the Firehouse. Here you have to park in a structure pretty much or find parking in front, which during the summer can be a big hassle because of tourists. I will agree I think probably in the winter it does well because of the Ice Rink with Hot Coca and Coffees being so close, but in summer its a miss i think for location and conveniance. I do think that the Chai Vanilla Lattes are really yummy here tho… I am a big fan. I see below they may offer Bobas now which is ironic for Rapid City South Dakota.

This is coming from a true Bay Area Bolba Tea Fanatic. I was so excited to finally see a bolba tea place after weeks of being away from home. I had their bubble tea with almond flavoring and a black tea base. I was so disappointed. It tasted all watered down and the bolba wasn’t even cooked all the way. It was still super hard in the middle. So sad… I guess I have to wait until I go back to the bay to have some real bolba tea!

A nice upscale coffeehouse with a relaxing atmosphere. I enjoy the drinks and food. Definitely recommend. Order the Peanut Butter smoothie, with boba!

I’m sorry. I tried so hard to like this place. The owner is so sweet, and you can tell a lot of love & care went into & continues to go into making this a nice place, but the coffee is just not good, the food is just made then microwaved when you order, and while I so want to give this woman my patronage, the facility itself just isn’t worth it :(

Best coffee shop in Rapid City! Have the baristas invent something crazy for you!

Comfy chairs, but overall very tacky décor. I ordered a large mocha espresso and it was more like a hot chocolate… dark, rich chocolate without even the faintest hint of espresso. It was very sugary too. Just poorly made. Staff was friendly and their Wi-Fi is free and speedy.

As stated in other reviews, there’s religious décor and Christian music paired with it but I’m not basing my review on any of that. For me, it’s what’s in the cup that matters whenever I review a coffee shop. What I found completely unacceptable was what they attempted to pass off as a latte. I’d consider my experience to be a fluke but my wife’s latte was identically bad. I’m not sure what this shop does but the latte did not smell at all like coffee nor did it taste anywhere in the ballpark of what a latte should taste like. It was completely undrinkable. The owner and staff of Alternative Fuel need to visit a proper coffee shop to find out what a latte should be. I’ll happily demonstrate if the owner is ever in Houston. If the latte itself matters to you, I’d strongly suggest Bully Blends instead.

I stopped here to fuel up for a long drive to Newcastle, WY. It’s nice to find a local coffee house instead of Starbucks. I ordered up a 20-oz latte and a breakfast burrito to go. The burrito was filled with about three-eggs worth of scrambled eggs and sausage. That burrito held me over for just about the rest of the day. Friendly staff. There is a Christian theme here but I didn’t linger long enough to be absorbed.

Didn’t have any issues with the environment that they create or their religious view points. Place was nice and so were the people. The Latte I ordered on the other hand was fairly weak and uneventful. Needless to say I did not return for another cup of Joe during my stay in the area.

Pros: 1. Like everything in Rapid City, it’s close to everything. 2. Decent coffee and chai tee. Cons: 1. The sticky sweet huge pastries looked delicious, but if not in the mood for that, you’d better not be a vegetarian. Even the macaroni and cheese has meat in it. 2. I get nervous patronizing businesses that identify themselves with any religion; does that mean you support that religion, where are profits going, etc.

spinach salad was ok… the dressing was very sweet and there wasn’t enough spinach, kinda like they were being cheap, there was only 3 pieces of red onions(ok, definitely being cheap). in fact, it was 1⁄3 of a real salad for the price of a regular salad. bagel with ham, egg, and cheese: well, it wasn’t exactly a bagel… and it wasn’t very good, albeit edible breakfast burrito… I come from California, maybe it’s because we’re closer to Mexico but I’m used to burritos the size of small babies… the breakfast burrito was the size of a small bagel… plus one star for the spacious layout and games. and for serving food at 2pm when everything else was closed.

Great coffee shop with nice people working there. Pretty good coffee, too. And, a nice selection of breakfast items. Yogurt parfait and the vegetable quiche were great. Comfortable and spacious seating area and comfy/homey environment. Walking distance to the Alex Johnson Hotel and other shopping.
