Good place, huge bagels but the woman behind the counter is NOT friendly at all. Ruins the experience of wanting to support a local establishment

The awesome staff braved the elements in the first blizzard of 2016 today to serve us hot coffee and delicious bagel sandwiches. Even though the trains were not running, they were there for anyone who needed a bite. No surprise really. This is a special place.

I used to walk here with my girlfriend(now wife), returned to pick up some bagels with our daughter today. The place looks great since its been updated and the bagels are STILL fantastic. Come hungry because the bagels are huge and delicious. If you are in the area and need your bagel fix this is the place to get it.

AVOIDTHISPLACE! It’s probably easier to just give you a rundown. Cleanliness and interior is excellent. Bright and open Counter woman needs to LEAVE! Horrible, negative face that doesn’t say hello or thank you. VERYUNPLEASANT. Also the owner sits on a chair with the TV at full volume, does nothing to help. It feels like Jabba The Hut! Helps no one and does NOTHING. Bagels… If you like those crappy soft bread bagels than this place is for you. NOTME! NOWAY! They seem to have all the right ingredients for a good bagel… except the know how! If you want the best bagels head over to Bagel Oven where they make the bagels with that slightly harder outside with a chewy center. The way most people prefer them. I’d give this place another shot(I’ve been here a dozen times) but not to support the horrible sour pussed counter woman or the lazy depressed owner that stares into space. Not being mean, but I’ve had it with below mediocre service and food! There are plenty of places spreading happiness and good food around! Go there! NOTHERE

Don’t go here! I asked for a gluten free bagel and paid $ 5.50 plus tax. The lady brought out our food and I took a couple bites and realized it wasn’t gluten free. When I asked the lady if it was gluten free she said no we are out of GF bagels! She could have made me seriously ill!!! My husband ordered a park roll w cheese and got ham w cheese instead. When we went up to the counter to tel them they could care less and acted like we were in the wrong. Then he handed me $ 5. Or meal was $ 11.60. We left our horrible food on the table and left. The people who work there are rude, they don’t respect food allergies, nor do they even get you order right. Don’t go here! Their bagels aren’t great either. Don’t waste your time or money.

Not quite sure what other Unilocalers mean when the say the folks behind the counter are rude. Went twice and while it was not all«roses and sweetness» from the order taker I certainly did not feel I was given the bum’s rush. On a weekend morning the place is packed and I think they are just trying to get people served as quick as they can… perhaps this feeling of being hurried along is misconstrued as rudeness? In fact when I was there the majority of the folks behind the counter were of Hispanic origin and English did not seem to be their native tongue. Ok — the bagels? DE-FRICKING –LISH. I had them make me an everything bagel sammy with eggs and bacon. I am an Irish boy and I felt like I had just completed my bar-mitzvah. Oy! Soft, chewy, bursting with flavor, the gooey egg blending nicely with the salt and garlic nodules on the bagel. The sweetness of the coffee paired well with this carb loading work-of-art…for 15 minutes I was Moses eating manna on the Jersey Shore. It ties in first place with Bagelmasters, Shrewsbury, NJ as the best bagel I have ever had

I am so thankful that I read the other comments about the nasty service. That let me know that the woman’s wonderful attitude was not just for me. Charm and pleasantries are in short supply here, but they make unbelievable bagels. Deal with the attitude, get in, get out. Try not to get distracted by the Everybody Loves Raymond reruns I the TV, your bagels will get cold, your family is waiting for you.

Best bagel place in town. Very clean, fast, and good. They run a great grill and the breakfast sandwiches are always top notch.

Great bagels and food but two stars because of service. I used to be a regular but gave up after yet another wrong order and gruff service. Really, how do you screw up bacon, egg and cheese on a toasted bagel? I go back every once in awhile when I build up a hankering and get disappointed everytime. Now they have a rude sign on the cash registers telling customers that if they want their bagel toasted they must do so when they order. Really? It’s not the customer’s fault, it’s the woman behind the counter who, like other reviewers say, is just rude. I’m done with this place. Go down to Bagel Oven.

The bagels are decent but I no longer go in because of the woman that works there. There is absolutely no reason why this woman should treat and speak to people the way she does. She has a puss on her face, she is rude, and speaks to the customers like she is above them. Someone needs to remind her that the customers are what keep them in business. Not a smile, or even a good morning ever. I don’t need my day starting off with this nasty woman. I know other people feel the same way because people at my work, as well as others in line there, have all spoken about her.

Tied in first place for best bagels in Monmouth County. I hate to say it like that because it feels like that cheapens it, but oh well… I can’t lie and say it’s my favorite when I have two favorites. Consistently fresh, hot, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and pretty close to perfect.

I love the food. I hate the service. I’ve used to go here as a teenager and knew they made the best bagels in the area. Since I moved back two years ago, I take my family here on occasion. The bagels are great. The people at the counter consistently suck. Forgetting to put items in the back. Telling me it was my fault when I do the return trip to retrieve forgotten items. There is zero customer service here and every trip(yes, I still come back for the food) ends with disappointment knowing I should not be spending money with people who do not care about their customers.

Dropped a star because I get really annoyed when small eateries like this one charge different prices for the same thing on different days. For example, a bagel with pork roll and cheese should be the same price everyday, not $ 3.5, 4.5, or 5. Stuff like that makes me not want to go back.

There are certain things you pontificate in your mind about being back for the weekend at the Jersey Shore. Pork Roll is highly sought after from this Monmouth County native Unilocaler. A fresh new bagel deli popped up at the end of my Red Bank days. I thought to myself that I’m really going to miss bagels out west after the move. Pork roll is almost nonexistent outside the confines of the garden state You add the both together and you got an amazing breakfast sandwich. My mouth started to water when walking into this Jersey style deli… It’s been too long my friend –too long indeed. I knew exactly what I wanted(needed) while gaping at all the deli delights. «A pork roll, egg and cheese on a everything bagel please.» –Would you like salt, pepper, ketchup on it? «Of course, thank you!»(I’m thinking we don’t get this stuff out in Denver. This is gonna be a rare treat!) Eric. Your order is up. Sitting down and unwrapping the tin foil, I quickly paused for a second and took it all in. What we have here is a bagel which had risen to its epic peak in this sea level oxygenated atmosphere and a generous portion of pork roll that has been cooked to perfection. Fried egg & melted cheese has been added to this potpourri of goodness. The trifecta of salt, pepper and ketchup rounds out the flavor. I wish I could take you home with me, but I can’t so I just sit here by the window at my native jersey shore and savor it. Food perfection at its’ height. Thank you Bagel Station for making my visit so nice.

Decent food, terrible service. I just visited Bagel station for the first(and last) time. While the woman at the counter was taking my order, she was distracted by another employee showing her something on an iPhone. I ordered my *toasted* bagel with cream cheese, which was ready in about 2 minutes. The bagel was cold, so I politely asked if it was toasted. After rolling her eyes, the woman who made my bagel(the one on her iPhone) rudely told me that I didn’t ask for it to be toasted. When I asked her if she would please toast it, she then peeled off the only top layer of my bagel and put it in the toaster. I tried to get her attention to ask if she could remake my bagel or at least toast both sides, but she was busy on her phone. A 3rd employee asked if I needed help, to which I responded by telling her what was going on, and asking for her help in getting the other woman’s attention. She responded by saying«just tell her to remake it» and moved on to whatever she was doing behind the counter, without helping me. Long story short, I’ve never experienced such rude, unprofessional service… anywhere. The place was empty, and there were at least 4 employees behind the counter, so it wasn’t like they we’re trying to keep up with a crowd of customers. The bagel was pretty good, not the way I like it, but overall good. Unfortunately, I won’t be going back.

Consistently good bagels. If your short on cash, they make an excellent lox spread that tastes amazing at a fraction of the lox and cream cheese cost. Their bagels are big, crispy on the outside, tender on the middle and always come with an excess of a topping. When you order a flavored bagel there is no doubt as to what it is since the entire top half is totally covered. I can’t stand it when some places only put on a sprinkle. If I order a garlic, I want the garlic spilling off after every bite and that is definitely the case here. My only complaint is the way or lack of the way the line is expedited. If there are 2 people in front of you and they all are ordering breakfast sandwiches be prepared for a long wait. You will have to wait for all the sandwiches to be finished before ordering anything, even a couple bagels to go. This morning local ABC news out of NYC was on with the volume very low. I have never had a negative experience here.

Gave it a go because we were told it was the greatest bagel place in the area, & though I haven’t tried any others(except for Manhattan Bagel, which I don’t think counts), this one seems to be a contender. Not too expensive, decently friendly service that feels a little bit Manhattanesque(brusque & all-business but still kind). I ordered pork roll & cheese on a sesame bagel, & my only complaint was TOO much pork roll — which is actually probably not a complaint at all because plenty of people would probably be thrilled to chomp into all that canned meat, & all I had to do was take a couple pieces of it off. The bagel was perfect, crisp on the outside & chewy inside, just like real bagels should be, & the location is perfect, too, right across from the train station. I don’t love the atmosphere, which is a little grungy & weird, but it lends to the NYC feel. I’ll be back!

Love Bagel Station and I want to see it get more stars than Bagel Oven. I have no tales of woe when it comes to this place, just some good old fashion respect for a great bagel joint I work in lower Manhattan and as anyone has ever been there can tell you, that they have the worlds worst bagels. I think Leo’s would be comparable to Einstein Brothers. Anyway, this place Bagel Station is comparable to all those great Brooklyn bodega bagel shops. So fresh with a crispier outside and soft chewy inside. Red bank area is home to 3 major bagel places. By far the 2 best in my opinion are Bagel Station and Bagel Masters. The only issue with Bagel Masters is that you are more likely to get a tude from an owner or a worker, then at the Station. I mean, they are not over friendly but they give you your bagel(a treat within itself) and thank you for it. What else do you need… I dint think a bagel joint should be judged for the news it watches or the company it keeps. If that were the case i would disown my whole Italian family, for being«old School». People are ridiculous and suck, but business is business and this one gets my vote

I have always stopped at the Bagel Station when taking the train from Red Bank into NYC. I even stopped today on my way back to Ohio to get my breakfast and a dozen bagels for myself and the family. I walked in a 6:10AM, right after they opened, and immediately my mouth started watering at the wonderful smell of the freshly made bagels. They are the best bagels I have ever had, especially compared to(in my opinion) the commercial crap that the likes of Panera Bread serves here in Columbus. I haven’t had anything even close to what you get at the Bagel Station. The coffee is really good too, I chose the Kona Blend, which was fresh and slightly on the stronger side.(I dislike watered down coffee). Besides«regular» bagels, they have a plethora of breakfast choices. It all looks and smells good. For those of you like me who don’t do white flour, they have whole wheat and multi-grain bagels as well. The staff was very friendly and bagged up my bagels carefully for the trip to Ohio. 13 bagels, 1 with cream cheese, all fresh and a medium coffee — just over $ 15.00 — a great bargain. The place has a few tables, but it is mostly a carry-out place. I believe they are only open for breakfast and lunch. As far as the other angry review here, all I can say is based on the ethnicity of ALL of the nice employees who were working, I would be very surprised to hear any of them talking the way that was mentioned. I have been in there several times and have never heard that sort of discourse. Not saying it didn’t happen at the time, but I haven’t experienced it myself. Also, what is on the TV rarely bothers me, even if I don’t agree with the channel choice. I don’t think the volume was even turned up.
