Paul came out a couple of times to view my property before we got started. He drew up a plan and had some pictures of plants. He said it would take 3 days to get all of the work done. I told him he could do the first 2 days but would have to wait for the 3rd day since I was going to be out of town… or we would need to start later. He wanted to go ahead and start and said he would do the 3rd day when I returned. While I was out of town, he called me to say they had finished and wanted his check. I reminded him that he wasn’t supposed to do the 3rd day. He dismissed my comment and wanted me to write him a check. He wasn’t happy that he had to wait. He put down some small rocks on the side of my house(I did not get to choose size). He described it as small pebbles and a small pebble to me is a little larger than pea size… these are rocks 1 – 2 inches in size. I asked the workers about the rocks when they were putting them in and the response I got was… it’s too late now. Not good! He gave me a quote for putting in some lights on my hill in an email but when it came down to it, his email was not clear and the charge was at least twice as high as I had previously thought. When I asked about weeds growing where he had taken out ground cover… he said you’ll only have a few until the new ground cover comes in. The weeds have been taking over! Have had to hire someone to keep the weeds down and come to find out… there isn’t any ground cover on the top ½ of the hill… only a few plants which are certainly not going to fill in and cover any weeds. Would I use him again? I don’t think so. Maybe I was naïve about what I was getting but it certainly wasn’t worth the thousands I paid out.

We hired Paul for a large landscaping makeover last year. In the beginning he seemed very attentive and knowledgeable. We would never hire him again for the following reasons 1. The most important aspect of the job that he told us he could do, turned out he couldn’t do it. We had to hire another person to finish that particular task at the end. 2. He put too many plants in with the wrong spacing — the plants after one year grew into each. We looked up the spacing for these plants afterwards and realized they would be overcrowding each other. 3. The landscaping plan he drew was not to accurate scale at all. This probably contributed to problem #2. I also have a feeling he over planted to charge us more but that is just a feeling. 4. The sprinkler heads he installed were about $ 10 each and he praised about how good they were. 3 of them broke within the first month. He did replace them though. 5. The quality of plants he got were feeble. Home depot would have been looking plants. Many of the plants died within 6 months. 6. He did not supervise his crew on where the plants were to be placed according to the plan. We had to call them back to move the plants according to the plan. Paul sells a good story but does not deliver through. Be cautious.

My husband and I are big fans of Paul and his crew. They were very patient and answered all of our questions. Even though we have a tiny back yard, Paul put a lot of thought into the design to meet our exact needs. His design and price were better than those of other landscapers. We had problems with our sprinkler system which took Paul & his crew much longer to repair than originally anticipated and I really appreciate that Paul still stuck with his original estimate. He has a lot of integrity, and he puts his heart into his work. We are very happy with the results! Additionally, after the work was already completed, we had some problems with a couple plants because of the sprinkler and Paul replaced them! He is so sweet.
