Amie’s is now closed. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and small plates, but we knew for the prices and the location they probably wouldn’t be around forever.

I came here for a Paint Nite event, and this is by far the best paint nite venue I’ve been to so far. The restaurant is a little on the smaller side, but perfectly intimate. The menu is quite large for just being a wine bar, too. I ordered a cider and had the hummus plate. The bread was nice and warm, and thr portion was huge. I preferred the regular hummus to the roasted red pepper, but they were both good. Prices were decent as well. I spent $ 21 including tip. Very deserving of the price.

We went here for a date night before catching a movie. Our server was really attentive and the food okay(mac and cheese) and good(pulled pork). There’s not a ton of ambiance and they could pay a little more attention to detail(red wine was chilled because the bottle had been opened the night before, cork in the wine, dingy glasses, etc). While we still had a great night, we probably won’t be back.

I came here recently for a Paint Nite event on a Sunday and I overall, had a nice experience. The décor is cute, vibrant, clean, but a bit crowded with all of us inside. The wine here is pretty expensive(I know, I know, it’s a wine bar). The cheapest one starts at $ 9 and while it was fairly tasty, I thought it was pretty pricey. My experience with the staff(owner) was nice too. She seemed on top of everything and effective at getting all our drinks/food out. I don’t know if I would come just for the drinks or food(I didn’t taste any) because of the prices, but perhaps. *Parking was more difficult because it was downtown. There is a garage around the corner luckily.

Here on business and like to find great little wine spots to sip and relax. This had great reviews, but really disappointed. Here at 5:30 pm, only customer, sounds of dishwashers and kitchen noise really loud. Sounds like there is wrestling match going on upstairs and furniture not very comfortable. Wine selection is good, but really overpriced. Plus, ordered rose from Provence… Half my glass from non-refrigerated bottle Music: not helping mode. I like Michael Jackson, but not feeling«thriller» right now Positive: sweet girl behind the counter, Amanda I am not hard to please… Maybe an off night… But moving on to next recommended spot

Not sure how this place gets 4 stars. It’s really expensive for mediocre quality of food and wine. Service and deco were okay but not good enough to make up for the $ 30 a flight of cheap wines and Luke warm microwaved food. Even wine bar at airport cost less than this place with better quality. This is another disappointment for restaurant/bar at Redwood City. Very suspicious how these downtown places gets good ratings!

It’s underwhelming. We came here on a Saturday night and were hoping for a great date night. Unfortunately the food was poor. Meatballs tasted like warmed up frozen food(the sauce was good) and the hummus tasted like out of a plastic container from a supermarket. The beet salad was great and the fries just ok. The wine was good but you paid the price for it and atmosphere not great. We walked out unhappy. Unfortunately we won’t be back though for a glass of wine and chat it’s a good place.

I don’t know why Amie Wine Bar has any business being empty on a prime Saturday evening because they’re home to what turned out to be the best(truffle) fries I’ve ever had in my life, my new favorite wine, and pretty divine bread pudding(that’s completely free if you check-in on Unilocal). We’d actually come here because there was an hour+ wait at Vesta and we wanted to grab a drink and small bite to tide us over, but Amie, the stop we’d intended only as a layover meal, ended up being the star of the night. I’m basically a french fry connoisseur and the truffle fries here are pretty much the be-all end-all. Legit did not play nice when it came to sharing this dish with my dining partner. Just too good to share. The beet dish we orders was also perfect in every way and beautifully presented. The only minor situation was that we chose to sit at a small 2-seater high top that was a little tight for a wine flight, an extra glass of wine, and two dishes along with our place settings, but we chose the table ourself and initially hadn’t planned on ordering so much. It’s a wine bar and they absolutely know their stuff. Their flights are fun, aptly named, and designed like a journey for your senses. The bartender and server were knowledgable and personable beyond expectation and swayed our dining endeavor from what could have been run-of-the-mill to an interactive experience. The interior could use a little polishing and something about the level of the main tables makes it seem a little under-par. It’s not bad, but it could be better… but when all other elements are as outstanding as Amie’s, I can look past it. I guess I can’t speak to their entrees and full meal, but everything we had was exceptional and only a half block jaunt off the main downtown Redwood City strip.

Decent little wine bar in downtown Redwood City. Not much of an ambiance, as lighting is not dim — it basically just feels like you’re sitting in someone’s apartment kitchen or living room. Sort of cozy in a way, I guess. Appropriate for a really casual get together. They had live music, which was an OK touch — not sure if this is the case for every night. Charcuterie plate was decent(I definitely could have made a better one myself) and their wine menu wasn’t too extensive. Service was good.

«It was the light of course but it is necessary that the place be clean and pleasant. You do not want music. Certainly you do not want music… What did he fear? It was not a fear or dread, It was a nothing that he knew too well. It was all a nothing and a man was a nothing too. It was only that and light was all it needed and a certain cleanness and order.» — Ernest Hemingway, from«A Clean Well-Lighted Place» It was one of my VERY long days that started at John Wayne Airport and brought me to a whole slew of chores and errands in the Bay Area — there’s simply NO rest for the Wicked! As the day drew to a close I was hungry, tired, and I still had an appointment in the East Bay at 8pm… With my last stop at K&L finished, I consulted the Unilocal app. I was in a mood where only a clean, well lighted place(WITH good food and wine) would do for dinner. Amie looked like just what the doctor ordered, so off I went! After the usual struggle for proximate parking in downtown Redwood City, I strolled in at around 6. The place certainly has a look that would have worked for Papa Hemingway. The hostess acknowledged me as I walked in, and told me to take any table I wanted, so I did :-) Now that I’m living in SoCal and just visiting NorCal, I’ve acquired a new appreciation for Wine Bars like Amie. It’s got some great wines, interesting flights, friendly, knowledgeable staff, and a diverse food menu with intriguing tapas AND well-prepared entrees. For some reason, this kind of venue seems to be almost unique to the Bay Area, but if they have ‘em like this in SoCal, I’m gonna hunt ‘em down and make ‘em mine! First things first — after I was seated, I asked my server what was good by way of wine flights. She suggested that if I was a fan of reds(I am, I AM!) I should try the«Go Big or Go Home» Syrah flight. When it came, I enjoyed all three, but the 2006 Paso Robles Adelaida Syrah had a spicy complexity, which made it intriguing by itself, and really compatible with the rest of the meal I ordered: — Parmesan Truffle Fries(French fries with parmesan cheese & truffle oil)
These Bad boys came highly recommended by my server, and I totally understand why! Hand-cut, fresh, crisp, and wonderfully executed, she brought my fries up first and they almost vanished by the time my flank steak arrived. Carb lover that I am, I KNOW I’ll order them again next time! — Chimichurri Flank Steak(grilled flank steak with an Argentinean Chimichurri sauce & papas bravas)
Tasty, well presented, and seasoned in an intriguing and delicious manner, this dish paired with Syrah beautifully. It was perfectly cooked, and the papas bravas were different enough and seasoned so nicely that I very much enjoyed the dose of double carbs. Downtown Redwood City is a really happening food destination, and given its proximity to «The Dragon» theatre, I highly recommend the area in general, and Amie in particular. I’m going to make a point of returning and sampling more of their intriguing wine and food selections. Perhaps I’ll do an upgrade in the not-to-distant future, but for now I’d say this place is a solid four-star destination.

I hate giving a bad review for places that are really trying. Amie is one of those places. Theres a lot of 4 – 5 star reviews for this place on Unilocal, and I have no idea why. This is a small wine bar/restuarant tucked away in Redwood City. The décor is nice, its very clean, and all new. The owner was also very nice. I came in with a party of 12… so we had a big group. Now for the bad. The FOOD. We shared a few bottles of wine, so that wasn’t the issue. With such a large group, you’re going to get orders of different types of food. Needless to say, I got to sample a lot of it. I ordered the chicken tacos($ 10), and they were 3 tiny tacos, with chicken, costco guacamole and chopped onions. It was so tiny, that you’re better off going to the corner taqueria. I tried the chicken meatball thing was was definitely de-frozen and dunked in pasta sauce. In fact one person in my party had it cold so it had to be returned and they just warmed the plate. The bread served with it was stale sourdough from Safeway… I’ve eaten that way too many times and I know exactly what it tastes like. The truffle fries were soggy, with no hint of truffle and the mixed green salad was a countable 10 leaves. The worst part was my husband had ordered the salmon along with everyone else. He never got his Salmon. We kept checking with the waitress and it she kept insisting it was being ready. The entire table was already done with dinner. and I ended up sharing my small plate of tacos with him. I finally went up to the owner to ask to cancel the Salmon because we didn’t want to wait and have him be the only one eating — this was 45 minutes after ordering. First she said okay, then she said its done. He ended up getting it. It was basically a baked salmon with no seasoning what so ever. We were pretty pissed off, and there was no offer to comp it either(after we had attempted to cancel the order). This place has a lot of potential but the execution is poorly done. The food is a mish mash of random things(heavy emphasis on truffle), but none of it is any good. They should honestly do away with the food, label it as just a wine bar, and just offer cheese and crackers. Go here if you just want a drink, but DONOT go here for dinner.

3.5 stars Came here on a Thurs night for a few glasses of wine and some tapas. Had been meaning to try out this place for a while. When we arrived, there was no wait and we were seated immediately. Service was excellent and very attentive. Half of the tables were probably seated which surprised me on a Thurs night when a few other restaurants were completely packed. Food and wine were both good, but pretty over-priced. Wine flights were $ 28 for 3 tastings(~1.5 glasses total) We shared 4 tapas(seared ahi tuna, hummus, beet salad and salmon tartare) + 1 dessert(lavendar crème brûlée). The total(including tip) came to almost $ 60 per person! While I enjoyed the meal and wine, this was very expensive for the portion size(a few bites per person per tapas). Brunch may be more reasonably priced?

Caveat — we don’t drink, so this review is only for food. We came here for a light dinner last night. We shared three small plates(that’s all they have): truffle parmesan fries, mushroom crostinis and chicken w/kale. Tapas/small plates places are always a little bit pricey, but I feel like this is especially so. Most small plates are $ 8 – 10 and the portions are very small, you really only get a couple bites. The truffle fries were great. The crostinis were ok but pretty bland — it was basically just mushrooms and cheese on bread, there wasn’t really any sauce or flavoring or anything. The chicken was also ok but on the dry side. The online menu has a sea scallop mac and cheese that I really wanted but that was sadly not on the menu the day we went. If you check-in on Unilocal, there’s a check in offer that says«1 Free Dessert.» Unfortunately when we tried to order the chocolate mousse they said the offer was only good for the bread pudding(although they’re the same price). I’m not a big fan of bread pudding and this one was no exception(it tasted like a stale cinnamon roll) but my husband liked it. The service was good, although the food took quite awhile to come out. I doubt I would go back because I don’t really think the food quality and portion size are worth what you pay.

Wandered in with a friend, it’s still a fairly new establishment in downtown RWC and one which I hope will stay around for a while. Food and service are worth making an appearance, since together they make up whether one has an enjoyable experience. The calamari has an amazing texture, it’s crunchy without being to heavy on the breaded batter. The seared ahi tuna also shines, the cilantro sauce really brings out the flavor of the fish. They’ve also got a nice selection of beers and wines. Live music is also a reason to stop by. Bottom line: j’taime, Amie. A friendly place for friends, indeed.

This hole in the wall has been here since March 2014. They have live music every week and their food and service is exquisite. I have tired several different dishes here over my many visits and each time I am amazed. I truly love the pâté board, the scallop mac and cheese, seared ahi tuna and the hummus and pita bread, taro chips and truffle fries! Every dish makes my taste buds dance and I am always satisfied with the food and service. All their dishes are tapas style so the more people you have, the more variety of dishes you can try. They also have servers who are very knowledgeable in wine and they can pair your dish up so you can have a experience of your life while your tongue dances in wonders. They also have a variety of different wines and 70 percent of them are local in California and the remaining 30 percent is imported. They also have many wines from Europe. If you like a wine, they can sell it to you by the bottle! If you are a wine drinker, they carry Coravin. Coravin is a wine machine which lets you enjoy your wine by the glass and never having to pop the cork! How amazing is that? When I first saw the server use that to pour my wine I was puzzled. I did not know what he was doing until I SAW. It is a incredible invention I must say. On a couple of Tuesday nights, I came for Paint Nite. Paint Nite is like the newest social event to go to these days. While you paint your master piece with a local artist, you are having a blast with great food and wine. At the end of the night, not only will your stomach will be full with wine and food, but you go home with a canvas painting! Bottom line I highly recommend this place for wine lovers, foodies, musicians, and artist!

My coworker and business partner has been raving about this place ever since she dined here with her hubby and pup the first time. We decided to do a girls working happy hour one night and boy am I glad we did! I had sooo much fun trying out so many different wines off the Wine Flights that we ordered. The selection of food here is also stellar! I really loved how different their calamari tasted, the crunch was slightly thicker and had a more nutty taste to it. The cheese and meat plate was also bomb diggity! We plan to host some fun events here to share our business with other fun and savvy new friends. What better way to network and have fun with friends than with a casual little restaurant that offers amazing wine and food. :)

Picture a lovely Sunday morning, the first of the season where you can sit outside and enjoy a nice brunch. I chose to spend that special morning trying out the Amie brunch in Redwood City after reading the awesome reviews. A good wine bar and brunch place minutes from my house? Yes, that’s the dream! Fast forward to our arrival where we realized there are only three table tops that you can sit at because inside they have live elevator music at deafening levels. Seriously? I brought the entertainment(conversation) and wanted a drink and some eggs in the fresh air, not a seat at a John Tesh concert. A note to the management: notice that nobody sits inside because the live music makes no sense in a place that small. Anyway, moving on, the menu looked great and we ordered our food. Both dishes came out in little individual serving lasagna dishes, which isn’t a really appetizing way to get a dish. Why can’t they just put the stuff in a plate? Probably because they don’t have to worry about plating this way. The second issue was that the food wasn’t good. I had the Amie Benedict, and one poached egg was underdone(undercooked white) and just didn’t have much flavor. My friend got the Corned Beef Hash, and it was just chunks of beef and there was a thick layer of oil at the bottom of the dish. We didn’t finish and decided to cut our losses and move on. I won’t be returning … at least not for the brunch. So far downtown Redwood City has been a series of misses.
