Sara did an amazing job of low lighting my hair! I have colored my own hair for years and have decided to let it go natural. My totally white hair is now blending in and cannot tell I have white roots. She gave me a great short cut, from shoulder length. No more monthly dye job, so if you are interested in going to the natural look, I highly recommend Sara!
I have been following Cindy Joseph and her positive outlook on looking our age. Check her out. After considering going to my natural color, Cindy Joseph convinced me to go for it, thus, I found Sara at Hair Express!

The place is near where I work so it’s an added bonus. The owner stylist Sara is the hair goddess. Just show her a picture and it’s a copy perfect. I went here couple of times and after my hair cut I also had my hair shampoo. it’s an additional though but who wants to have hair on their shoulders walking around. The place is small but it’s clean. They also have services for nails

Happened to see this place as I was driving by… As always, at least in my experience, these are the best places. Sarah is extremely friendly, knows more about Bay Area sports than most male barbers, but most importantly she’s great at her job. 105% satisfied.

I found Sara about 2 years ago while looking for a new place to get my hair cut. Sara is wonderful. She gives me more of a style type cut than a regular cut, always superb. My girlfriend from out of town needed her hair cut while up here and she also loved what Sara did for her. I have recommended hair express to all my neighbors. A great cut and a very reasonable price. And she is such a warm and personable woman. And those reviews from Marianne and John… I don’t think they are real because Sara really cares and does a great hair cut!

Sarah is the best for men’s hair styles. Just bring a pic or two of the style you want and she does a great job imitating it.
And the cost is quite reasonable. $ 15 for a men’s cut and then a tip.
Recently Sarah had to take care of her very sick son so she is building up clientele again.
I would strongly recommend her especially if you are nearby. Appointments and drop ins work well.

Our family has been getting haircuts from Sarah for the past 5 years, she’s wonderful! My high school son won’t see anyone else and will wait a few weeks just to have her cut his hair. She’s incredibly warm, takes her time to give awesome cuts and her prices are incredibly reasonable.
I also have my hair colored by her and she is really good and very inexpensive, especially compared to other salons. Love her!

I have been coming to Sarah for years. She is very friendly and the haircut is a great deal. It’s easy to make an appointment, and the walk-​in wait is usually pretty short.

Went there based on Unilocal reviews and have to say I got one of the worse haircuts of my life. I would recommend you stay away unless you need a crew cut. This lady doesn’t know how to cut hair, all she can do is use clippers to buzz everything off and even then can’t shape or layer hair to save her life. Stay away!

Sarah cuts the best hair, I lived in palo alto before and went to her since I was a child, moved to Hayward, got married and still go all the way to San carlos to get my haircut. Love ya sarah!

I went straight from this place to supercuts to get my haircut fixed. I didn’t even bother to try to get her to fix it; I just paid and left.
Sarah didn’t cut my hair; it was a different lady who was also working there. I should’ve insisted on waiting for Sarah.

I *think* I’m satisfied with the cut Lila did today. She just trimmed my existing layered shoulder-​length hair. I knew it would be inexpensive based on previous Unilocal reviews… but I wasn’t expecting to be spritzed with a water bottle (no shampooing) and air dried. How could I tell if I’m happy with the cut when my ends are still clumped together?
I think my bewildered look elicited a sympathetic pass over with a hair dryer but my hair was damp when I walked out. 20 minutes from start to finish for a $ 20 cut.
Update 2 days later: it’s official– I got a bad haircut. The layers were cut choppy so they don’t blend in with the longer lengths and my nape of neck hair length was not even. Yikes… will give Sara a shot before deciding whether to come back again or not.

She really cares about making your haircut the best she can.
It’s not luxury, but the job she does makes it worth it.

My entire family have been getting our haircuts from Sarah since the late 90’s, we couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. I usually stop by the shop about once a month to get my haircut and Sarah always greets me with a smile and asks how my parents are doing.

It’s apparent that Sarah enjoys what she does and has fun doing it. She is accommodating and flexible and really cares about making sure your hair turns out just the way you want it. She is very professional and is the nicest person you could ever. I was recommended by a friend and decided to give her a try. She was very honest and helpful and the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back.

I have been a regular here for ten years. Sarah is a sweet person. Tina is her main assistant. They love children. Prices are very reasonable.

The Background:
Tiny barbershop off of El Camino, this place is pretty much exactly what you would expect from a $ 15 haircut. Good service from a solo barber who seems to do everything, it’s not going to be the best haircut of your life but it’ll be decent and fast.
The Positives:
The haircut here is fast, she definitely has room to take walk ins. Additionally, while the haircut was quick, it was done with an attention to detail. Additionally, after she noticed I wasn’t really interested in talking, she stayed quiet for the rest of the haircut. She was also kind enough to provide information on the type of haircut I got and what instructions to give other barbers (I always let the barber pick a haircut for me.)
The Negatives:
You get what you pay for, while she is professional and does good work, the haircut isn’t going to turn heads and have people wondering what your secret is.

Sarah is AWEOME! I’ve been going to her for over 2 years. During that time I had another person cut my hair ONCE and completely regretted it! Now I won’t go to anyone but Sarah!
She always calls me ‘pretty lady’ and makes me feel beautiful before, during and after my cut… she’s always welcoming, never rushed or harried, and as someone else said, she’s friendly without being overly chatty!
On top of all of this you can’t beat her prices! Everything is a la carte so you can choose to save money by skipping the wash or the blow dry after! Her shop is convenient, right on El Camino, plenty of parking! Her hours are reasonable (although good luck getting in on a Saturday! She has a VERY loyal client base!). But it seems like she’s there ALL the time!
I am one very happy and loyal client!!!

Full marks to Sarah for:
Taking me as a walk-​in client twenty minutes before they were about to close;
not giving me any grief for coming in close to closing;
giving me a great simple haircut in about fifteen minutes;
being friendly and chatty without trying to talk my ear off;
doing a great job on my hair despite the low price she charged and the vague instructions I gave her;
being able to make executive decisions about what sort of cut would look best on me and my face instead of asking for my approval on every single snip the way some stylists do;
and a great attitude throughout.
For $ 15 + tip my hair looks fab and it barely took any time out of my day. Awesome!
P. S. I was most amused when she asked if I had a girlfriend. Maybe I’m not as obvious as I thought!
