Great pizza. We ordered ½ Margherita and ½ potato. OMG Very friendly personal. I’ll be back with my wife soon — maybe on Valentine’s Day?!

The food here sucks the pizza tastes bad. The burgers here are also gross. I bit into my burger and it tasted like the meat was rancid and not fresh as they claim it is. I also ordered a salad which also disappointed me. The salad I got had parts of the lettuce you wouldn’t want on a salad. Also to sum it up the bill was expensive for food I didn’t even like. After my experience with Howies i am sure I would not come again.

Unforgettable pizzas, superb burgers, and always great(and unique) beers on tap. Howie’s has quickly become my favorite restaurant in Redwood City!

Came here for Saturday brunch. We ordered biscuits & gravy(a tad strong on the fennel) and the Prosciutto Benedict. The kids got waffles and grilled cheese. Total: $ 57. We all enjoyed the good food & friendly service. Looking forward to trying their pizza on the patio when the weather warms up. *only real complaint: no kids menu except for brunch. Could be a deal-breaker for some.

Really great for families and dogs. Lots of outdoor space. Fun, friendly staff. Large(buttery) blueberry pancakes, and pretty delicious egg dishes as well.

3.5 stars but rounding down since the service was on the slow side, and we didn’t love all our dishes. My coworkers and I came in for lunch on the Wednesday before Christmas Eve, and the restaurant was busy but we were able to walk in and grab a table around noon. We tried: –Eggplant Pillows(House Made Ricotta, Salsa Verde, $ 8): Yum– I loved the crispy eggplant skin on this dish, and the salsa verde. Recommended! –Crispy Chicken Wings(Soy, Hot Chili, Ginger, Garlic, Scallion, $ 9): Just ok– the sauce was good, but the wings weren’t crispy enough. Skip! –Garlic Fries(Garlic, Parsley, Parmesan, $ 6): Pretty good, and definitely very garlicky. –Chinese Chicken Salad(Napa Cabbage, Romaine Lettuce, Cucumber, Peanuts, Crispy Won Ton, Cilantro, Peppers, Hot Mustard Vinaigrette, Big/$ 12): Yuck– this is the only dish that we really didn’t like. The dressing was almost non-existent, and the chicken was super dry. Skip! –Half Pepperoni/Half Sausage & Peppers($ 19.50): The pepperoni was really good, and my favorite, but the sausage and peppers was really disappointing. I would order the pepperoni again though. –Baked Potato Pizza(Scalloped Potatoes, Gruyère Cheese, Crisp Bacon, Rosemary, Parmesan, $ 19): Yum– this was the favorite of all my coworkers, and this was my second favorite. This was a unique pizza, and all the components went together very well– recommended! –Pesto Pie(Basil Pesto, Mozzarella, Basil, Parmesan, $ 18 + Shrimp $ 4 + Chicken $ 3): Just ok. The pesto tasted good, but the bright green color of it was quite off-putting, and the center of the pizza was soggy. The service was a bit slow– I think they only had one server for a large section, and we had to flag him down to ask for refills on water, etc. They also completely forgot about our salad, so we tried to cancel it since our pizza already arrived, but they were nice and still gave it to us on the house. Overall this isn’t a bad place to go for pizza, especially to try once(for the baked potato pizza!), but I’d probably rather go to other comparative places instead. Parking in this area can be tough, but limited street parking(metered) is available, and you can also park in the large public lot for free(up to 1.5 hours).

This place is great, the food, the service, the atmosphere. We ate at the bar but started with a couple of cocktails. Bartender was great and told us all about the house made ingredients that went into our drinks. Started with a Caesar’s salad that was tasteful and a decent size — generous with the croutons and a perfect dressing. Enjoyed the Prosciutto and Arugula pizza… great thin crust perfectly done. If you’re not in the mood for pizza, they have other appetizers, burgers, and sandwiches along with a great selection of beers on tap. I’d definitely come back here to try out their other pizzas or some of the other great looking food.

When you don’t feel like being fancy and getting pizza at Vesta, but you’re bored of the fast food nature of Pizza My Heart, come to Howies! They have a nice patio outside where big picnic tables are laid out so you can catch some air while you down your pie. –Baked Potato Pizza — If you like fennel, this one is for you. –The Bianco — So much cheese! So much good! –The Works — Typical pizza with everything on it. I also got the eggplant pillows. They’re unique but I thought they were just alright. They are literally slices of eggplant wrapping wads of cheese and doused in olive oil and capers(or tapenade). I’d definitely come back here to try out their other pizzas. Good portions, good creativity, good atmosphere!

I Went for lunch with coworkers and I was fairly impressed with their pizzas and appetizers. The only downside of this place would be their crust. The baked potato pizza was our favorite.

My girlfriend and I got the margherita and the works pizza(half and half) and they were really good. The meatballs as appetizer were great too. Our bill for two(meatballs, 1 pizza, 2 beers) was 60 $ which was kind of a shocker and that is why the average rating. The service was great and they even brought water for the dog, but I just don’t think pizza plus 1 round of beers plus one appetizer should be $ 60, but then again the prices in this area rarely make any sense.

Good menu, hit or miss service. Margherita pizza, the prosciutto pie, the meatballs all are really good. Some of the other pizzas are too generous with the toppings so don’t fully crisp up. They still taste good but the crust can’t hold the toppings. One bartender is terrible, we waited 10 minutes and he never once stopped talking to his friends at the other end of the bar. We got seated before we could order a drink. The other bartender is as good as he dresses sharply and is friendly and knowledgeable. The beer and wine selection is nice, decent breadth, and the mixed drinks tight. But getting a drink is far too hard for a 12 seat bar too often. In fact our appetizer was delivered before our drinks so the poor bar service bleeds into the dining room.

I’m as much of a pizza fan as the next person. There’s not much to dislike about pizza. And it’s not like there aren’t enough pizza restaurants EVERYWHERE. But this one raises the bar: First I’ll talk about the service, which was extraordinarily friendly; I felt like I was being served by a friend. Our server gave us great recommendations and even gave us kudos for switching up the menu a bit when we asked for pesto sauce on one of the pizzas instead of tomato. Secondly, the atmosphere was relaxing and fun — the night we dined, there were not one, but two different birthdays being celebrated, on a Monday night, no less. They have a spacious indoor dining area and an outdoor patio with plenty of seating — very charming with the right amount of mood lighting. Thirdly, the food was delicious. We started with a large green salad which we shared(plentyt for two). We also split the fennel sausage and pepper pizza, swapping out the tomato sauce for pesto because my dining partner couldn’t eat tomatoes. And had enough for leftovers the next day. Great spot in downtown Redwood City. Highly recommend you don’t miss this one.

I cannot stress how great this place is. The service is incredible and the food is delicious, plus the ambiance is just perfect for a casual meal. We asked to sit outside and were the only ones out there — they turned the heaters on just for us. We ordered the chop salad and bianco pizza with added pepperoni — highly recommend them! My fiancé got the pastrami sandwich, which was perfectly juicy and the meat tender(all made in house!). When we asked for a box to go, our server gave us extra sides of the pickled veggies to take home. One of the chefs came to our table and asked us for an honest review of the meal(particularly the pastrami since it was a special of the day and he was testing out its popularity). This meal was honestly a labor of love, you could tell. For dessert we ordered the carrot cake and pecan pie a la mode. The carrot cake was like a carrot shortbread — nothing I’ve had before and super tasty topped with candied pecans and a really light, whipped cream cheese frosting. I’m not a big fan of pecan pie, but my table-mates were very happy. A couple of us ordered coffees, and the refills just kept coming. When we were ready to leave, our server offered to make us to-go cups, too! What a fantastic place. Looking forward to coming again.

Had a nice weekend late-afternoon lunch with the family at Howie’s. Had never been here before but heard good things about the pizza at the T&C location in PA. Good food and I’d definitely bring the family back. Food: Started with an order of the meatballs, which were tender and had a nice tomato gravy for dipping the garlic bread in. Then split a pizza with the kids, half sausage and peppers, half cheese. Light crispy crust, tasty sauce, and good toppings. Next tine we’re back I’d like to try the eggplant pillows and the shrimp, and the chopped salad looked great too. I was happy that Howie’s lived up to what I had heard about it. And a nice beer selection, too — I’ll never complain about Ballast Point on tap! Service: Charming server who was friendly and didn’t overdo the upsell(but he tried, which is his job!). Food took a bit longer than we expected, but kids didn’t melt down and the missus and I had beverages to keep us happy. All in all, good service. Vibe: Lunch-on-the-patio-cool. I would always opt for eating on the patio, especially one that has been redone so nicely. The dining room is bright and happy, so if it’s cold outside it would still be a nice place to grab a bite. Family-friendly: It’s pizza! Of course it is! Summary: Howie’s is a welcome addition to the family-friendly dining scene in RWC. Good food and beer list, and it’s easy to find something that each person will like. And hanging out on that patio is really quite lovely. Enjoy!

Convenient pre(or post) movie spot. Doesn’t take long, quick service and a nice atmosphere! We ordered The Works Pizza and the Chinese Chicken Salad. The salad was tasteful and a decent size — generous with the chicken but weird that it has bell peppers. The Works had salami, sausage and pepperoni with olives, red onions and bell peppers — basically, a combination pizza. In particular, I really liked the pizza dough… hot, soft, tasty. Both items were underwhelming but decent.

Ive been eating chef Howie’s food since Marche in Menlo Park. The first Howie’s in PA was a huge departure from the fine dining Marche was. Guess he’s doing well enough that Tarboosh has been taken over. Large patio and inside space. Seems the menu is bigger than the PA one too. Was tempted with a burger but I got a prosciutto white pie(my own creation) starting with the eggplant and ricotta. Solid. being there late for lunch I almost had the patio by myself. I had the staff basically to myself so I was taken care of. Curious to see how they do on crowded service days but a quiet leisurely lunch aint so bad

Yesterday I took my wife, two kids, and two brothers-in-law to try the new Howie’s Pizza, and I couldn’t have been happier with how this restaurant turned out. The outside patio area is absolutely perfect with indoor/outdoor feel, and with the right amount of shade on a warm summer day. The food was even better than the spacious restaurant seating — pizzas were perfect with chewy crusts and too many great combinations to try in one sitting. Oh, and the tiny pizza on the menu isn’t tiny — my daughter took half of her meal home. The chicken torte my wife ordered was outstanding, as were the salad and twice-cooked thick fries. Although we didn’t imbibe, the beer menu was spot on with the best of local and other California brews on tap. Redwood City is obviously becoming a hotbed of great restaurant choices, and Howie’s Artisan Pizza ranks up there with the best. I look forward to coming here every time I’m in Redwood City!

Tyler is the best bartender ever! Ryan the bar manager is great too! Walked in on a Friday night around 6:30 and sat at the bar. Tyler made us phenomenal drinks. We ordered chicken wings and a margarita pizza. The chicken were so good. Soy ginger crispy goodness. You dont even need ranch dressing. The pizza was great too. Perfect for 2 – 3 people. Howie even came out to chat with us. They have a super cute outdoor patio too with heat as well. Cant wait till summer I will be here often!

I was happy to hear that Howie’s had opened a location in RWC, closer to my home. I have been going to the Howie’s at T&C in Palo Alto for several years, and was always very happy with the food, service and fair prices. Well, I was happy about it until I went there last week. As I looked at the menu, I decided to try their cheeseburger. I opted to add avocado for another $ 2, and it looked like I had a choice of fries or a side salad with it. I asked the waiter, and he said it came with neither, but«I could add either for $ 3». So I did. I ordered the burger w/o onions, added avocado, and added the $ 3 side salad. $ 12 for the burger $ 2 to add avocado $ 3 for a side salad Total: $ 17 Really!!! $ 17 for a burger with avo and a dinky salad? Dear Howie’s, YOU’RECHARGINGWAYTOOMUCHFORYOURFOOD! When I got home, I looked up their website, and their menu states that the burger comes with fries. I’d like to give the waiter the benefit of the doubt, but how can you NOT know that the burger on your menu COMESWITHFRIES? It aint rocket science, dude. I omitted onions, yet my burger still came with onions. Not going to dock the waiter for a kitchen mistake, but this just added insult to injury. In closing, the burger was OK, the service was poor, and the prices were ridiculous! They’ve only been open a few weeks, but I expected them to have their poop in a group. It’s not a complicated menu. Getting it right and delivering beverages quickly, and meals to a table, in unison is far from expecting too much. I’ll probably go there again because the food is good and my kids love the pizza. Let’s hope by my next visit they’ve fixed all their glitches. If it goes poorly again, I will not be returning, and you can expect a follow up review that echoes this one.
