Karlitas Taco Place

Bleh. This place is not for me. I asked for a wet shrimp burrito and I got mostly carrots, broccoli and freakin squash with a few freezer burned shrimp. WTH? The menu did not warn me of this atrocious mix.

Food is good and cheap, but the service is spotty. If you are calling in a to-​go order, be warned that they are not particularly good about their phone manners or about remembering your order! Karlita is a sweetheart, though, and she and her staff are good about compensating for mistakes they make. For example, last time I ordered over the phone, it was clear when I arrived that they had forgotten to start my order. They looked a bit embarrassed, so they rushed my order, and even gave me a free taco!

I come here probably once a month. It’s a convenient location for lunch. I’ve enjoyed each meal I’ve had here but, the folks that work there are not the happiest. Although I like the food, I almost dread walking in to order. It’s hit or miss with how you will be treated. Calling in an order is worse. Grouchy? I’m not sure what it is. All in all, the food has been good. Ask for chips with you to go order or check if they give them to you. I’ve walked away without them on a few occasions.

We had tongue and carnitas tacos which were great, and my mom really liked her pupusas.

The ladies at Karlita’s are always happy to dish out great food that has that special extra flavor. There are other Latin options in the area but we come back here for the flavor and the Pupusas.

Came on ³⁄₁₀ and the service I received from the older male at the front register was by far the rudest. Previous to today’s experience I had no problem with this place, but being over charged and taken advantage of is not okay and this is where this business has lost me as a customer. I was told that I was being done a «favor» and I don’t think any customer is just a «favor,» I am a CUSTOMER. Hopefully they get their act together and learn how to accommodate to their customers and not be rude. Overall their food is simply «okay» and there are definitely better Mexican places than this place.

I came with my 2 picky daughters. I ordered a super steak burrito.1 daughter ordered papusas and the other ordered a chicken burrito. Great food, we were all happy with our food. Be back next week.

Came here because I live only a 2 min away. When I entered the restaurant the lady that worked asked if i spoke English or Spanish and I said English. After I ordered a super burrito, I overheard the workers there make fun of me by mimicking me of how I only spoke English «oh he only speaks english, no Spanish». First off all, I have NEVER been made fun of in any restaurant just because I don’t speak their native language and I speak what the National language is and what your supposed to speak in the UNITED STATES. Anyways, I let that pass because I didn’t want to start anything… Then I go home with my burrito, by the way they do NOT give you salsa nor have a salsa bar so they just gave me plain chips, being already not satisfied as to no salsa, I go and take a bite of my burrito… Its the saltiest, driest, nastiest burrito I have EVER had. DO NOT GO HERE. RUDE WORKERS, TERRIBLE FOOD, AND NO SALSA.

Ok I’m a food lover !! So every time I do laundry I just have to go next door and get something to eat. I feel like the Mexican food here is pretty average… I have had better. But… I feel like coming from a salavdorians family the pupusas will be the best you can get in redwood city. (Not the best I have ever had) but the best IN REDWOOD CITY

Well I come here a lot with my friends Specially to buy a guacamole/​chips and pupusas. I stopped by today before heading work to buy the same today but was disappointed when I opened it at work. They only gave me less than half bag of chips. They obviously charged me full but just because I’m an Asian, they thought I wouldn’t know and tricked me :(didn’t appreciate it. Not going back anymore.

This place has the best burritos. Sooooooo good ¹⁰⁄₁₀ good! They are always fast and everyone who works there is super nice especially the guy at the front register (haven’t caught his name yet). Always smiling and happy!
The only improvement I would make as other people have said too is more salsa options. That is all!

this place is amazing, the ingredients are very well done, meat is tender juicy full of flavor and the atmosphere is welcoming. kudos to the owners 5 stars

Absolutely amazing! I’ve only had the burrito and pupusas and they were both absolutely outstanding! And the carne Asada is to die for. So perfectly cooked not dry like most places that have them overcooked, it’s nice and chewy flank steak, I love it! They are fast, they are friendly, and they are delicious.

I’m only giving this five stars because that’s all there are. Otherwise, it’s an easy 10.
I just had a cheese papusa and taquitos. SO DELICIOUS. Absolutely the best papusas I’ve ever had. My favorite is cheese, but all are amazing. The pickled cabbage on top with that sauce of hers is the icing on the cake. The papusa itself is light and so fresh.
The taquitos are equally delicious. Light, fresh and crisp tortilla with succulent beef. Good guacamole with cilantro and onions on it. Usually comes with sour cream and cheese added, but I prefer to leave that off.

This a good place to eat here. I recommend a lot people to try there food there is hella good especially the Pupusa are good there. So go there and try out. There nothing bad try new foods …

Absolutely one of my RWC favorites! Food is fresh and yummy! I ordered the papusa plate today and watched as they made them right then and there! The staff are very attentive and friendly!

I LOVE this place. Their food is soooooo good. I live in the south bay, surrounded by Mexican food and this is my go to place when I want great food. I get their super burrito with grilled chicken, their cheese pupusas and my boyfriend gets their super burrito with either al pastor or carnitas. I do not know how they do it but it’s magical. I’ve never had anything that’s tasted like this food does.
The only thing they can improve upon are their chips and maybe having a salsa area for customers to get salsa with their orders.
I’ve recommended this place to so many people and they all agree that this is the best place for burritos. I have a friend who just moved out of state who is going to make me send them food from here!
I will always come here and I will continue to tell everyone about their food. Keep up the greatness Karlitas! I appreciate it!

The atmosphere is great. It is small yet seems well maintained. Customer service is top notch.
And if you ask the guy at the counter what he recommends you can’t go wrong. I stop in there regularly for their excellent pupusas, and the burrito ranchero special if I’m extra hungry.

I really wanted to like this place. El Grullense was closed tonight for some reason (?). I really wanted a chile relleno from El Grullense, and when me and my husband saw they were closed tonight I said well I can go to the place next to the Petco. He kind of made a face, like he didn’t think I’d be able to get one there, or if they did it wouldn’t be any good. I was determined to prove him wrong. And now I kind of wish I’d just let him be right. From the moment I opened the box, it just didn’t look good. It looked like someone poured some kind of canned tomato sauce over the chile relleno… and it didn’t taste great. I’ve had chile relleno about 8 times in my life and never had a time I didn’t love it, but this was the first.
On the positive side my husband seemed to like his burrito ok and I have had their burritos before and they were pretty good (which is why I thought my husband would be wrong about the chile relleno). Well you live and learn. I would still come back for a burrito.
I have to give them kudos for using eco friendly packaging. And I appreciate that these women work hard and the place looks pretty clean.

I’m pretty picky when it comes to
Burritos and Mexican food. This small little taco place exceeded my expectations! Great portions and wonderful service! It feels good to eat local and tastes amazing! I reccomend the chimichanga. For veggies lovers theres quite a few options as well! I got the vegetarian burrotio and was maxed by how much guacamole was included (we all know how little chipotle includes)! Great place! I’m planning on coming back soon!
