Umm like no… It’s a hole in the wall so you’d expect good pizza but that’s not the case. There were other people dining in and the pizza they were eating looked old/not fresh. I grabbed my to-go Monaco pizza which looked better but it wasn’t anything special.

As others have pointed out, this is the closest to «real» NYC pizza you’ll get in the South Bay. Very tasty, got our pizza out of the oven quickly, but unless you are tiny elves one pizza will NOT serve«3−4» as they advertise. It serves three«normal» appetites at best, and that was with a salad included.

I think this might be my favorite pizza, ever. I crave the Whitestone all the time, probably because I love ricotta cheese. However, I’ve been eating from this pizzeria for years and still haven’t found pizza that I adore as much. Note: I love pizza, so this is a big statement. Sure, it’s not the most affordably priced pizza, but I’d consider it to be gourmet and worth every penny. Also, super convenient that they accept credit cards now. As for the reviews below complaining about the cost going up… guess what, the cost of everything gradually increases as resources become more costly. Welcome to life buddy.

Amazing, delicious New York-style pizza. We have a wood-fired pizza and make a lot of Neopolitan pizza, but for a good slice of take-out, this is the way to go. I mostly eat their plain cheese and pepperoni pizza(kids’ preference), but I also like the Brooklyn. They don’t deliver, but they finally take credit cards.

This place used to be a great pizza place, but they seemed to have gone downhill recently. Their slices have gotten very small, and overtime they have slowly raised the prices. When they opened it was $ 5 for 2 slices and a drink, now its $ 7 and the slices are smaller. I really want to support this place because they are locally owned and the only nearby pizza place but its hard to when I have to pay $ 7 for half a meal. PROS –pizza is pretty good, they’re are a lot of unique kinds –staff is friendly –they finally started accepting credit cards –restaurant is clean CONS –slices are small –prices are kind of high –very limited seating area

I was born in NYC and remained in the NYC area for many years. This place has the closest thing to NY style pizza on the Peninsula. The crust is thin and flavorful, the sauce is tangy, and even a plain cheese pizza from there tastes good. I would not touch any of the slices from inside the case, they look pretty decrepit, stick with a fresh pie, and that is why I knock of 1 star. They now accept credit cards, but I kind of liked the cash-only thing.

tiny, hole-in-the-wall pizzeria located in the hills of redwood city… i had a craving for thin crust and knew that i’d be able to get a cheapie slice or two of my favourite new york style pizza here. whatever they have for the day is in the display case, and you can choose from plain cheese, vegetarian slices, pepperoni, sausage, and more. they have a nice variety and the best part is that each slice is only $ 3. i picked the garlic chicken pesto and tomato basil slices«for here.» the slices were probably on the smaller side, and could have used more toppings, but for $ 6, i really can’t complain. they filled me up pretty quickly and i washed down the garlic aftertaste with cold water that was complimentary. the dining area is quite small with maybe 1 – 2 tables, a few chairs, and little space for anything else. there is a small bathroom to the side of the dining area. the guys who worked behind the counter were polite and friendly. for no frills, cheap slices of thin crust pizza on the peninsula, speederia is your go to place!

Not impressed. Stopped in on a Saturday night to get some pizza for my hubby. It was deserted. You can only order the pre-made slices in the case or the one size they offer, extra large. The pizza in the case looked worse for wear. I bought 2 pieces, one Brooklyn Special and one Central Park. They both tasted like cardboard. They threw the slices back in the oven for a second to crisp it up. Thought it was flavorless and expensive for $ 7.00. Won’t be going back.

If you’re looking for a place that serves VERY thin crust pizza, in paper delivery bags that stick to your slice, and that only accepts cash, BOOM! You found yourself a place.

We’re from SF and we were in Redwood City in the mood for pizza and wanted to try this place based on the reviews. We ordered a garlic pizza. I’d say this is a fairly good NY style thin crust with a good sauce and good cheese. The garlic was not as strong as we usually prefer but it was good and satisfying. Our fave in SF is still Pasquale’s by the beeeeacccch but overall I’d give this joint a 3.5. A few pointers: CASHONLY and only one size: 18″

I don’t usually write reviews, but these guys earned this. The cool thing about this place is that you can buy pizza by the slice. My daughter only likes cheese pizza, which is a flavor you’d think they would try not to run out of. On the contrary, they often run out and don’t have the planning skills to put another one in the oven in a timely manner. That alone is not so bad. The fact that the guy behind the counter is completely rude and gives the impression that he could care less if they ever sold a pizza makes, this a place not worth going to. Tonight, when I went in, there was no one else in the tiny store waiting for pizza. There was no cheese pizza. I asked the guy behind the counter how long before I could get a slice of cheese. He responded that he did not know. I asked him if a cheese pizza was the next pizza that they would be making. He responded that he didn’t think so. He explained that they would probably make a peperoni pizza next because they had been out of that longer. I looked around me. Again, there was no one in the store waiting for a slice of peperoni. I thought to myself, should I wait around here indefinitely until this guy blesses me with a slice of cheese pizza. I thought no and left. The more I thought about this, the more peeved I got. How rude and not customer friendly this guy was. Any normal person that cared about the job would have responded with«sorry we ran out, we’ll have another pie ready in 15 minutes». His Pepperoni comment was a joke. The worst part of this is that this guy is certainly not going to get promoted any time soon, so he’ll be the guy greeting customers forever until they fire him for being the joker that he is. This guy is representing Speederia Pizzeria and he could care less about the customers. I read a similar review below. It must be the same guy. In 3 of my last 4 trips to Speederia Pizza, I walked away empty handed. One time the power was out or something similar so they were closed. The other 2 times, they had no cheese pizza slices and gave no indication that they were interested in making more in a timely fashion. Also, as I was walking out this last time, someone else was coming back in with their pizza. They had driven back and I saw them get out of their car. I can only assume that they were not happy with the pizza for some reason.

My pizza wasn’t cooked to my liking but the sauce and cheese still tasted good so I put it in the oven on a pizza stone for 5 minutes and it was perfect

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! I am originally from the east coast and we have finally found true east coast style pizza! My family and I were thrilled when this location opened in Redwood City. As much as we love this pizza we would not always want to travel to San Carlos to get it; plus our«pizza night» was often on Thursdays and when the Harvest Nights were going on in San Carlos it was near impossible to find parking … Yay, for the Redwood City location! I read about some customer service issues, but we have never had one; and we go often! There are some that are more friendlier then others, but it has not been enough to keep us away. I would absolutely give them 5 stars if they accepted credit cards. I understand why they do not, but I have not gone when I know I do not have cash on me(which I often don’t). They do have an ATM machine now, but the one time I tried it, it did not work for me. I just make sure if I know it is going to be a Speederia night I get cash!

Fantastic Fantastic pizza! Its thin crust, its juicy and very flavourful. They only make the large size but surprisingly i and my husband were able to finish almost three quarters of the pizza in one go. I loved the ingredients and my husband who otherwise refuses to eat anything vegetarian outside of the house, totally devoured the pizza! since i have eaten only once here, i will give it 4 stars. but an assurance that i will be a regular!

Nice! Speederia makes it up to the hills of Redwood City to complement its sister location on Laurel St. in San Carlos! Didn’t know this place was here. Same very good thin crust NY style pizza as its San Carlos location with pizza by the slice anytime you want it. About 8 – 9 different options available anytime. Bottom line: This lil strip mall now has the perfect combo for takeout: best fish tacos anywhere from Sancho’s and then delicious NY pizza from Speederia around the corner.

I was absolutely skeptical ’cause food choices west of El Camino Real tend to be underwhelming in Redwood City, but holy crap Speederia totally delivered! The pizza by the slice here is fantastic. It’s precisely the type of pizza that I look for: New York style with intense sauce and minimal cheese, and all the toppings are layered are super thin and judiciously before being baked in just the right way to meld all the elements together so that you get a perfect flavor balance in every bite. The«two slices plus a bottle drink for $ 6 out the door» program is a meal deal that can’t be beat! Had a mushroom slice and a tomato basil slice. Both rocked my world. As a hilariously dim Austrian governator once said, «I’ll be back.» 4.5 stars, and if the quality remains this consistently good on my future visits(and/or they start experimenting with vegan cheese) I’ll be rounding up for sure.

Fantastic! Love this place. If they took CASH I’d give them 6 stars. Whoops! The owner pointed out to me that I did not express myself well in my review. I meant to say if they took things OTHERTHANCASH, LIKE, CREDITCARDS, I’d give them 6 stars. But they do NOT accept anything other than Cold Hard Cash — which is pretty easy with a $ 6 slice order but gets a little more dicey when you order a coupla pies. So, let’s get it right now: No Cash, No Pizza. Credit only, No Pizza. Check only, No Pizza. Cold Hard Cash will get you Pizza.

Was finally in the area with some cash in my pocket, so I decided to try this place. I think it was the owner that greeted me. Very nice and explained his menu to me and even made a recommendation for me. I decided to try two slices — first slice was the mushroom and the second was the basil and tomato. Fantastic! Especially the mushroom. Thin and crispy, just the way I like it. The crust was delicious and the sauce was not over powering… just perfect. I took 1 star off only for the fact that they only except cash. Go try them out — support a local store and enjoy some great tasting pizza.

Ok, it’s for reals. And the pizza is NY style, super thin and crunchy crust. Delicious! The pizza pies come in one size fits all(x-large, 18″) but their claim that this will feed 3 – 4 adults is just crazy talk. More like 2 hungry adults. It’s not really a sit-down spot and pizza takes about 25 min. Currently hours are super limited(4−9pm) and it’s cash only. Hopefully these things will change soon. Phone number is 650−367−7260. Speederia, welcome to the neighborhood!
