Great food, excellent service, and accommodations for families. Favorite Chicken fried steak in town! My wife loves the French toast and California Omelet. Kid meals are a plus with a lot of options as well.

ABSOLUTELYAMAZING! To eat things that are so common, and are completely new is a joy! Pancakes that there is an ingredient your not sure what it is, but pushes the breakfast over the top! Having chicken fried steak that is amazing, fresh, light and slightly different. I say yes to this little spot of paradise!

Walked in & was completely ignored. Service definitely lacking nowadays. Omelettes still good but no better than other beak fast places such as Stonehouse & Squeeze in.

After coming here a few times, I decided to write a review. The restaurant was clean with a pretty good sized dining area. Although they were noticeably busy, we were seated within five minutes of putting out name in. Our drink order, coffee and waters, was taken almost immediately after being seated, and arrived a couple couple of minutes later. We decided to try the special which was 2 blueberry pancakes, 2 eggs, and two pieces of bacon. It seemed to trake a little longer than I would expect to get our food, and to confirm another couple, seated after us, recieved their food before we did. When the food arrived, the pile of berries on the cakes really stood out! The eggs and bacon were both cooked perfectly. The canalop was s little under ripe. The only«problem» with the dish was keeping the berries on the cakes and getting butter on both of them. I would have liked more offers to fill our coffee without having to ask. I honestly think that the meal, while very tasty, was not worth $ 30+. As such, I’ll hesitate to return when there are several other options for less money. The bathroom was large, not dirty, but could have used some attention. I had to do some adjustments in the toilet tank to get it to flush. I informed the manager, as an FYI, whom promptly thanked me.

I love this place! It’s a staple for family brunch. I made reservations for Mothers Day for 13 and was greeted with enthusiasm and were seated with out any issues. The food is amazing. I tried the carnitas huevos rancheros — I couldn’t stop eating. Add Ina coffee and mimosa — Delish!

They may be a Mexican inspired restaurant, but they are more American food oriented. No one in my group actually ordered anything Mexican. I don’t remember what I had exactly because I was pretty sick with a cold, but I do remember it was a lot of food. I think it was an omelet with a side of biscuit and gravy. They did bring me a lot of hot water for my tea. I would like to try this place again, when I’m not sick.

Was really excited about the crab cake Benedict and it was just all fillers(nothing exciting), asparagus was mushy and potatoes were boiled and bland. Had to ask for coffee multiple times. Not impressed but the mimosas were good.

Great service. Great food! They got our party of 11 sat right away on busy Easter Sunday and all 11 of us LOVED our meals. PLUS the waitress asked at the beginning of we’d like our checks split and managed that like a pro. To top it all off, they didn’t even charge us the whole«18% for parties over 8» crap. So they actually got a way better tip! Definitely coming back!

This place consistently disappoints on service. We’ve been here 6 or 7 times. We keep coming back because it’s the closest breakfast spot. The breakfast food is OK, but it’s literally one of the most poorly run restaurants that I’ve ever been to. Showed up this morning & sat down with my wife and son. They literally sat 5 other tables after us, managed to serve each of those 5 tables coffee, juice and take all of their orders. All before ever even looking our way. Won’t be coming back here.

Sunrise café is a good, local restaurant that sits in a strip mall. We’ve come here a few times for breakfast and the food has always been really good. The food ranges from pancakes to breakfast burritos to chicken fried steak. Everything I’ve had has been good, maybe a little too big, but quite well prepared. Service, however, is where they lose a star. While the food is good, the service is regularly below average. Servers don’t seem to be quite as attentive(one asked if we wanted more water and then left before anybody could respond despite several empty glasses). The food takes a while to get so be prepared to chat with those in your party. Overall, if you have time to wait for the food and aren’t expecting a Disney level of service, it is a good place to stop. It won’t be the best breakfast in Reno(foot+service+environment) but it’s good nonetheless

We were on the road on our way back to Lake Tahoe and we were hungry for breakfast but wanted something that was close to the freeway, inexpensive but tasteful! Sunrise Café met all those standards and more! The place seemed busy but we were seated right away! The waitress got our drink order and the menu was to die for! So many different options and everything sounded great! We received our food and we were pleasantly surprise with the quality and the price! Will be coming back whenever I’m in the area again!

I went there for breakfast with friends. I received a cup of coffee after sitting there for 20!!! Minutes. So much for having coffee with friends. The waitress would come ask if we needed anything after our food came and didn’t even bring the coffee pot with her. So I had to ask for it and wait for her to go get it. The French toast was fine, but at $ 12, with this service, I’d rather go somewhere that leaves a pot on your table. Did not feel like the waitress cared at all. Also, it was a windy day and part of the door frame came off and hit my friend on her head when we were walking out! The customers seemed more concerned than the management. The metal smashed into her head. I will not be going back.

I have been reading the reviews for the past couple months. Been trying to get there. Finally made it today for Brunch(11:00). Approximately 15 customers, I was seated promptly. Given coffee within minutes and order taken. While waiting for my order, I was observing food being delivered to others and people eating. I received my Chicken Fried Steak, Eggs, Potatoes and toast with in 5 minutes. The portions of food was above average. The taste and quality of food was a 9.5 out of 10. The reason for .5 deduction, I thought the gravy was a little gritty. I like creamy gravy. I also noticed that there was not a single plate returned to the kitchen with any food left on the plate. In my opinion that alone deserves a 10. Guaranteed I will be back again and again. Some say their prices are high, DISAGREE, They are the same as all quality resturants.

Went for a early breakfast before Christmas shopping. I had the fabulous french toast. It was awesome. I recommend that if you like french toast. This place is always good. My wife and kids like it. I still haven’t made it for lunch. But I hope to try it soon.

Have been to this restaurant twice now and the food has not disappointed us! The only minor thing that happened the last time was that I had ordered fruit with my breakfast and instead received the potatoes. Not a huge deal, so I didn’t complain — the potatoes are great, I was just trying to be healthy. I noticed some negative reviews about the service and from my experience they seem to be doing their job well. They don’t chit-chat, which could be nice sometimes, but that’s about all I can say regarding that. We will definitely be back, it’s in a convenient location for us.

I had been wanting to try the sunrise café for a while, tried yesterday at 2:30, but they were already closed. That was my first hint that they are open for breakfast and lunch, so took advantage of my new found knowledge and went there for breakfast with my husband this morning. We have been missing out, that’s for sure! My husband ordered the banana walnut pancakes, and I had the incredible Monterey omelette with chorizo and poblano chiles. Though there were only two other customers there besides us at 8:30, I was still very satisfied with the service. The waitress was very friendly, and prompt with our coffee, food and bill. This restaurant is located in South Reno off of Wedge Parkway. I highly recommend it to anyone in this area, and it’s worth the short drive for everyone else.

This is now our third visit, and the food has not been bad, but it has not been«wow» either. Today he ordered the tri tip sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy. I ordered the yogurt, granola, honey and MIXEDBERRIES. The wait time wasn’t bad, 25 minutes after we ordered. His tri tip sausage was nothing more than a hot dog style beef sausage eggs overcooked and bland. Potatoes were good and the gravy had a good flavor but was more of a paste than a gravy. My bowl came out and the server set it on the table, I had to politely tell her I could not eat it. I explained that the menu clearly stated yogurt, granola, honey and MIXEDBERRIES, not mixed melons. The melon was mixed into the yogurt, and unfortunately melon causes me to break out in hives. I explained that if it had said mixed fruit I would not have ordered it. So she asks what I would like her to do… I explain again, I would simply lime what the menu states, yogurt, granola, honey and mixed berries, just berries as the menu states. Ten minutes later she returns with my breakfast of a few tablespoons of granola in some yogurt with some slices of strawberries about 15 blueberries and 75% of the entire dish sliced bananas. This time I kept the thing, because I was just sick of explaining at this point. Ate as much as I could around the bananas, which no not allergic just can’t stand them, which is why I said BERRIES only as stated on the menu. I don’t understand why it is so difficult to either give the customer what is on the menu or tell them they are not able to do that so they can order something else. $ 7 to get to eat about 1⁄3 cup of food. When the server took my bowl she asked if there was a problem as most of it was still there, I said yes I ordered a product off their menu and did not get what was advertised, then I had to reorder and ask specifically for it to just be berries as stated on the menu and last time I checked, while a fruit a banana is not a berry. We paid for our food, asked for a manager after paying as I don’t expect things for free I expect my food right. We never got to talk to one, after waiting and waiting I got sick of waiting and left.

How did I not know this is here? I have had this place bookmarked for ages. My wife and I don’t get out for breakfast much because we both get hangry in the morning if we aren’t fed promptly. We decided to give this place a shot and I can say I was thrilled with my breakfast. Sugar for breakfast is always my motto and the blueberry waffles sounded good. Those waffles were so good that they didn’t even need syrup! The light dusting of powdered sugar and fresh blueberries on top were just the start. The waffle had oodles and caboodles of fresh blueberries inside the waffle too! It was delicious. The scrambled eggs were done well, as was the bacon. It was crispy without being burnt and had a nice flavor to it. I loved that there was fresh fruit on the plate, a piece of cantaloupe! Our server was quick with the water refills and prompt with her service. She was always smiling and had a great report with us. We came in on a Sunday and they were busy but not overly so. We didn’t have to wait for a table which was awesome! It seems to be a hidden gem and I would definitely return!

The sunrise café has decent breakfast food. And good Mexican food! If you go on the weekend, GOEARLY! If you go after like 10:30, you will be waiting!(In their non existent waiting area) they do more people pretty quick thru there once you get seated! The food is more expensive then most breakfast places in town, but the portions are large,(the hubby and I often split the eggs and sausage then we add biscuits and gravy!!) and very tasty! But I’ll never shy away from an order of their pancakes!!! The the staff is friendly! The owner is always onsite making sure everything going well! Often when I try to order to go, it takes a lot of phone calls to get thru!(kinda frustrating, but worth it!) overall this is one of the best breakfast places in reno

Came here for the first time today and I’m in love! I got eddies rum waffle. I saw a pic of it on here so I’d thought I’d try it. I don’t like restaurant waffles, they just taste weird to me but I LOVED this waffle. It was more dense than the traditional restaurant waffle but I like that. Almost as dense as a cake donut. The waffle also didn’t have any weird sweet flavor added to it which I also experience at other places. The service was great. They were friendly, fast, and efficient. It was windy the way we went and the power was knocked out a couple times but they kept going. I will definitely come back to try other waffles like the banana chocolate chip. Also their special was cinnamon swirl pancakes. That too I would like to try but they just has too many tasty sounding things on the menu I had to turn it down.

I had not been here for three years as my last visit literally left a very bad taste in my mouth. But as I am want to do, I give places another try. Today we waited a short time to be seated. The service was as it had always been, friendly and well paced. Today we both had the special of pancakes and egg with sausage. Everything was cooked well and tasted as it should. SO we were pleased we gave it another try. Oh yes, I screwed up when paying and the waitress could have taken advantage of the situation and I would have been non the wiser. She was honest and pointed out my faux pas. Thanks for being a decent human, it is nice to find.

Let’s see, why don’t I start at the beginning, which was about a year ago. My first couple of visits were not so hot. Mostly server issues which is why we kept returning. Good food will always bring you back. Our last couple visits have been spot on and today was no exception. It’s eleven o’clock on Saturday morning, we expect to wait… A table was quickly set for us, usually the case since we are a family of six. Our beverages were brought and we were greeted by our server. This all within minutes of arriving. When our food arrived I wanted a bite of everything. It all looked so good. I had the corned beef hash while the kids had burgers. My ten year old daughter said her burger was the juiciest and cheesiest burger ever, and she loved the potato chips on the side. The real star is the chicken fried steak. Pounded out thin with a nice gravy. I recommend this one to any CFS fan. Everything is going well and the food is getting rave reviews. Our table is silent except for the sound of forks clinking plates… Then it happens. It’s like car brakes screeching to a stop…“I don’t like the ranch”… This seems like such an easy thing not mess up. I’ve got to tell you, either it’s homemade or it’s Hidden Valley. Everything else sucks. This stuff was awful, not what you want to dip your fries in. All in all the ranch was just a miner glitch in a great meal and definitely not a deal breaker. The food is consistently good, the dining room has a warm feel to it. This is a great place to start your day!

The only way I can figure this place has such good reviews is that there aren’t many options in South Reno for breakfast. The interior has an identity crisis happening where it seems to want to be an Italian restaurant. Either that or the owner just cleared out the home décor section of TJ Maxx. We put our names on the list and somehow another couple who were about third or fourth on the list were called first. They had to tell the waitress that there were several couples ahead of them. They do not have a liquour license but you can get mimosas. We watched them pour pink champagne into our glasses. I thought it must have been the reflection from the sun distorting the color… until I tasted it. Yep, pink champagne. So glad I paid $ 7 for this. I ordered the Irish benedict. The english muffin was not toasted, the eggs were undercooked and the hash wasn’t browned. The Hollandaise was flavorless. My husband ordered the Country Club omlette which came with bacon, spinach and mushrooms. There was so much cheese it was chewy yet the entire thing lacked any flavor. The«house potaotes» were undercooked and clearly had no seasoning whatsoever, not even salt and pepper. The best part of the meal was the coffee and the slice of canteloupe. The food tastes processed and for the quality, is so overpriced.

July 21, 2014 Saturday — breakfast 9:30AM 2 adults + a bunch of other Unilocalers Atmosphere –5 stars Food — 5 stars Service — 5 stars Background — Another Unofficial Unilocal event; UYE Monthly Unilocal Breakfast Club — July Sunrise Café. Thanks Robert S. for putting this together! Atmosphere — A small strip mall, the only reason I knew this place was here was that Jimmy John’s shares the parking lot. The place inside had so great photographs on the wall. The feel was very modern and clean. Food Drink — Just water, already had enough coffee at home. Main — Eddie’s Rum Waffle. I do not know who Eddie is but you have to try this hot sliced banana rum sauce coated on these waffles. The first thing you notice about the waffle is that it is unique. It is not the kind you make in the hotel lobby for free. The waffle is like a flower. The waffle is made up of large petals that come to a point in the center, and break away from each other with a slight touch of the fork. The petals have raised edges to hold that warm gooey heavenly banana rum sauce perfectly. Service — A large table of people is never easy to deal with and I thought they did a great job. Future — I would come back just for those waffles.
