I’ve been here several times and the past time I came was much better than in the past so I’m updating the review & giving them another star. Riveredge Diner is your typical jersey diner. They have a huge parking lot and the diner itself is large inside. It has 4 different rooms. The hostess doesn’t smile at all, but our waitress DAWN was awesome!!! Such a good waitress. Super friendly & quick, our food came out in less then 10 minutes and the diner was packed. I had a Reuben wrap with potato salad. It was really delicious. Boyfriend had a turkey burger and his mom had a gyro. They both said their food was good. Overall, good diner. Still not my favorite in jersey but it’s a good choice!

Good morning breakfast.. every thing one can ask for when ordering bacon and eggs. Eggs nicely grilled without too much oil, very good color and generous use of Cheddar.

Great place. We come here at least once a week. It is very reasonably priced. The interior is dated yes, but it’s a diner. You want glitz? Then expect a higher price. The food is always tasty, and portions are adequate to ample. the soups and specials are good. the wait staff is always very nice and attentive as are the hosts. There is rarely a wait to get seated. My wife loves the scrod, it’s always fresh and never fishy smelling, the salad bar is unique, it doesn’t have all the fixings say at Charlie Brown ‘s but it’s a Greek diner style salad bar, Feta cheese olives tomato croutons lettuce. it’s good. I always get it.

My friends and I are not from river edge and we were walking on kinderkamach and it was freezing. We walk in everyone is staring at us like what the hell. The waiter is mumbling and is acting fresh to us when he takes out order. The worst part is they force us to buy like there extra soups and what not. The food is alright for a diner but the people there pissed me and my friends off. oh yeah forgot to Mention they gave me food poisoning

To start off with. The short bald manager guy is a complete d-bag he tried to argue with me and say that Mac & cheese is the same price as penne vodka($ 14) Like are you kidding me? He was very rude and not professional. Other than that the food is not anything to brag about.

I’ve been here several times, and the food is always delicious and certainly on par with other such Jersey diners. On one of my last visit s, this was one of the few locations around open at 1:00 am on New Years Day for a late night bite, and service was quick and accommodating even then! Not the most pleasant experience for the staff, I’m sure, but still appreciated.

Dated interior, okay service, lukewarm food bordering on bleh. If you like Piccadilly then this is your place. My meatloaf tasted like it was made with some liver and there was some Plastic wrap baked into it. Gross. I know it’s a diner and all but everything from their desserts to their entrees tasted tired and worse than uninspired. It was warm though. That was nice.

Been coming here since high school and I typically don’t have problems but lately the food has just been gross. I got the linguine with meat sauce and it was linguine with the same unseasoned ground meat for chilli just sitting on top. No sauce, no flavor. Had to ask for a couple of small saucers of marinara coz under the pasta was just water and meat juice. I should have sent it back and left but I felt bad because I knew the server and I’ve been coming here for nearly 20 years. Nice that they redid the menu but seriously, the food has been gross lately. Management: PLEASEFIXTHIS. :(

Normally don’t have problems, but tonight we had a bunch. Firstly the food came out after waiting for a while, and it was ice cold. No big deal, they warm it up and all better. Secondly the service was really bad. We were ignored and forgot about. I asked for mayonnaise and had to wait 10 minutes to get it. They normally are good but tonight lacking. 3 stars because 1 for being ignored and 1 for the ice cold food. Maybe next time will be better.

We live in the diner state and this place simply doesn’t cut it. It’s clean and probably fine for a quick cup of coffee but the food is consistently subpar, and the service is lackluster and slow. Today it took us, a family of four, almost an hour to get a kids hotdog, a Reuben, a grilled chicken salad, and French toast. When the food was delivered the kids got their meal, then my husband got his ten minutes later(Reuben) then I got my salad which«was taking too long bc the chicken is grilled». when my salad arrived the dressing on the side was terrible, when I told the waiter he walked away and never came back. The French fries were also soggy and unsalted. The bacon was soggy. Reuben had no dressing. By this time the kids had already finished their meal and my husbands meal was cold. I could understand if it was packed in there but I saw people come, eat, and leave before us. When we told the front desk they didn’t care. Unacceptable. It makes me sad because we live walking distance from here, but they just killed our whole Saturday as a «quick meal» turned into an hour and fifteen minutes of aggravation. I NEVER give one star reviews if you don’t have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all, but this was simply deplorable.

Today’s celebratory Friday lunch led me back to river edge, and was I ever rewarded! Now serving pumpkin pancakes that were moist, light, and just enough pumpkin flavor. Honestly I’ve never had anything like them! This diner was built in 98, and is dated inside and out. What this diner lacks in design is made up by consistent well done diner fare. Consistently better pancakes and waffles than any other bergen county diner. Service is very lax, but the waiters do their job. Sometimes you get a good personality, and other times not so much, but I’ve always been attended to as far as refills and check ins.

Typical diner. Food is not bad, especially your typical diner cuisine, burgers, grilled cheese, breakfast etc… Though I have yet to have a bubbly happy server, I’ve had plenty of grumpy ones. I’ll go back if it’s convenient but I won’t rush out the door anytime soon.

The Story: I came here for Brunch with my Brother and Boyfriend. Food: The food is actually pretty average. It is definitely better than IHOP but there is nothing outstanding about anything. Price: Average price for a diner in Northern NJ. Décor: The décor is outdated but I guess that’s part of its charm?(sorry, its not charming) Service: This is where it earns the stars for a typical diner in NJ but alas they failed… so badly. There were THREE of us, we were served TWO glasses of water(wtf?) and my water wasn’t even refilled up at all during the whole duration of brunch(we spent about 1.5 hrs there). Our waiter had the first couple buttons of his shirt open and chest hair peeking through…(I’m trying to eat here). They can really work on that. Parking & Finding the Place: They have their own little parking lot which is convenient. Located on Kinderkamack in River Edge. . Additional Thoughts: n/a.

This place is the go to spot for a quick delicious meal. Been going here for a very long time and always been glad to give them my business. The place is always busy, especially in the mornings with the old folks. They must be doing something right.

This diner used to be good but I have noticed a sharp decline in service. I think that the owners may have changed. My order was not correct even though I specifically asked the waiter to write down that I wanted no sauce on my sandwich no mayo no mustard. So what did the sandwich come with? Mustard! On previous recent visits I have experienced a waitstaff that was unfriendly. You are in a service oriented business. If you don’t like your job you shouldn’t take it out on the customers that you are relying on for tips. Surliness has no place in the restaurant biz. I will eat elsewhere

I’ve been going to the River Edge Diner with my family for my whole life, and we always have a wonderful experience. I’m not sure why all the negative reviews! Service is always good and food is always yummy. My personal favorite is the salad bar. so many tasty options on there!(delish chicken liver, potato salad, olives, feta cheese, veggie dishes, and more). I can make a meal out of just the salad bar! :p Their soups are delish(especially split pea!). The omelets are big, the food isn’t greasy, and all-in-all, we keep going back again and again. =)

‘Been coming here consistently for years and they do serve up some of the finest breakfast one could ask for. Their Buttermilk Pancakes are to die for… Omelettes made anyway you prefer, no matter what ingredients, generous portions of sides, freshly brewed coffee and friendly wait service all makes this place worthy of solid recognition.

River Edge Diner is meh. Extremely outdated with an unenthusiastic staff. As far as diner’s go, this one falls short. It might be that people come here for nostalgic reasons(kinda like how I feel about the old Suburban Diner in Paramus). But all in all their food is eh. I feel like I can just go to another diner somewhere else and get better food easily. River Edge really needs to step up their competition but I guess because they’re in such a busy location and have been around for so long that they have a steady flow of customers. Had their clam chowder and it was watery. Had their greek village salad and the proportions were wrong(too many tomatoes, not enough cucumbers and red onions). Had their chicken sandwich and I think it was a heated up patty. If you’re going to eat here, you should stick to the basics: burgers, eggs and pancakes. I’d come back here in the future because I’m pretty sure it’s 24⁄7 which is always awesome and their prices are reasonable but that’s about all that’s keeping me as a customer. Other than that, you can go to just about any other diner in the vicinity and get better food.

This diner is very friendly. Lauretta is super nice. Ask for her. She gave us a pitcher of water. Ordered an egg and cheese sandwich on hard roll with mayo. It was delicious. The pancakes are also super super good. Couldn’t stop eating it when I took one bite.
