Tonight was treat night. And boy! am I glad we stop by to find them still open. As soon as we stepped in the door we were greeted by a familiar face. Ernest you are a sight for sore eyes. Young man you are going places. Hey Owners: count yourselves blessed, you have a special kind of person in this young man. Treat him well. He is one of the best features in the store and, the bakery isn’t half bad either! Lol. Actually folks one of my new favorites are the Crème brûlée and the cheese cake. I have no pictures of the cheese cake because I couldn’t wait, sorry! Thanks for being the business that you are. Please people, I beg of you to stop by and check them out. You won’t be disappointed. There are many unique items to choose from, many authentic to their culture. Thanks again Uncle. Love the Ramirez Family.

Located in the corner of University Village, Uncle Chuang’s is an old time favorite of mine whenever I’m in Riverside! Let me lay it out for you.(TLDR below…) – What I’ve Tried – –pineapple cakes –honey sponge cake –Totoro blueberry bread –honey roll cake –royal sponge cake – Wait Time – I’ve never had to wait for more than one customer ahead of me! – Ambience – Cute little shop with a good variety of breads and cakes! Smell of all the goodness slaps you in the face as you walk in. – Now for the Good Stuff – I really appreciate the prices of Uncle Chuang’s breads. All of the breads are baked and presented fresh on the daily. There’s a good range of sweet and savory breads to fit whatever you’re craving for! I personally love the honey sponge cake! Not too sweet, but sweet enough. I love how soft the texture is and how light it feels when I’m not really feeling for a heavy treat. I always love stopping by after a meal in the UV. I feel like this bakery honors the college student budget haha. Tiff’s Rating 5⁄5 – PROS – –reasonable prices –free drink with $ 5+ purchase –yummy selections –friendly staff – CONS – -$ 5 minimum for card

First time here and I love it more than 85 degrees. I spent close to $ 30 so they gave me 2 ice cream sandwiches which was awesome! I loved the Blueberry Totoro Buns. Their Mini Titamisu cake and Crème Brûlée are pretty popular or anything with custard(Cream puffs ftw)! Try this place out if your in town! You’ll love it! They also give free teas or hot cocoa you can make if you spend more than $ 5.

I love this place so much. However, the 5 dollars limit until card usage makes me feel so bittersweet because it makes me buy more baked goods. Fortunately, I never regret my purchases. Favorite bakery in riverside. Maybe because it’s Asian, maybe because it’s delicious. Who knows? The strawberry cake is also delicious. Not too sweet and just the right amount of fluff!

I’m pretty glad an Asian bakery opened near my house and the University! This review is pretty late since I’ve been going here for a while. I like how I don’t have to drive back to my hometown in the 626 to stock up on breads anymore. The prices are very reasonable and there are always good deals going on. Right now is 15% off if you are a student. One time I got a coupon for $ 2 off $ 10 purchase, and I was able to get around 7 – 8 pieces of bread and pastries for around $ 8. The staff is very friendly, and greet me everytime I go in. They are also helpful. I usually go in the early mornings(because UV parking is hell later in the day) while food isn’t stocked up in the front yet, but a worker assured me that he could get me anything that wasn’t displayed in the back, which he did! The reason I’m only giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I grew up in the SGV/626 and Asian breads were my daily staple(quick breakfasts and lunch). I feel like the bread I had back home was better quality, tastier and fresher.

My first time visiting the bakery, and I was pleasantly surprised. The young man helping me this morning was very friendly, and even complimented me which made my morning. I got the taro bun, pineapple bun, curry bun and a variety of the pork sung buns. The ones I had were very delicious and fresh. I got quite a bit of buns for only $ 8, and a free drink. I’m stoked that I’ve found my new Chinese bakery, since I live in the next city over. No long do I have to drive all the way to Rowland Heights or Chino Hills to get my fix.

This place was ok I love this type of bread but I could live without coming back here and I say this with ease. The best thing they got going for them is the garlic bun and that too was lacking but the best out of what I had which were all the typical things for a Asian bakery. So I’ll just have to say NEXT.

I love uncle chuangs!!! I love the pastries and the desserts. You also get free green or black tea with a purchase of $ 5 or more(amazing). Those teas are super delicious, I usually don’t drink tea but I make an exception always when I’m here. My favorite thing here is their taro bread, it’s sweet, fresh, and cures my sweet tooth for a little bit;) I love all things here from their mouse cake to the chocolate strawberries, to the mousse cake!!! This place packs all the best treats! I’m a local, so Whenever I get the chance and I’m around. Believe I’m around, chowing down on some of the pastries(:

I usually come for their ham and cheese danish($ 2) and cheese dog bread($ 1.50). Both are very delicious and its sooo cheap. I have tried the jalapeño and cheese bread which is just cream cheese and a few jalapeño slices slathered into a long slit on the side of the bread. Its ok. Its mostly just sweet bread. Nothing crave worthy or decadent. I have also tried the curry bun. The curry bun is very salty and again, not crave worthy. If you come at a good time, the cheese dog bread is still warm and the cheese still has a little crunch to it! So gooood. And the ham and cheese danish is basically just a ham and cheese croissant. Perfect for mornings on the go.

I like to support this business. The employees are kind and always helpful. Don’t be afraid to ask them questions. There is a large selection of freshly baked goods both savory and sweet. They also serve up some refrigerated goods too. A perfect place to buy someone a nice dessert as a gift instead of getting the same old stuff from a supermarket. And don’t forget to try their ice cream sandwiches. They come in a variety of different flavors. I hope to try them all one day: p

Didn’t know what to expect, one of the things that surprised me was that all there pastries are organic. I was going there because I wanted macaroons unfortunately, they told me they don’t have any and that they don’t make macaroons the make ice cream sandwiches. The bread is individual wrapped and on the back of the wrapped bread is a sticker that tells you what each bread is made out of and the name. This establishment is small but with a $ 5 purchase get a free drink Their service was ok. Although there pastries are grate, the price is low cost.

Happened about this place, cuz the bakery I intended to go to — located on 9th Street — was closed; and also appeared to have changed ownership. Upon Unilocalerooing, these guys resulted. Lovely!!! As directions took me through streets and back roads in Riverside I had never traversed. I had the opportunity to see the orange groves behind the University. It was like discovering a secret countryside. This bakery is located inside University Village Plaza on beautiful UCR campus. Free parking with validation in their lot. But suggest just park in the outskirts next to the metal fence. You dont need to be a student to purchase here, although all who were during my visit, were. I earned two free drinks for a purchase over $ 10; only needed one. They have black and green SWEETened tea(not kidding about the sweet). It’s a small bedroom sized bakery — basically grab a tray, walk in a square, as you pick what your taste buds scream out for. I recommend the BBQ chicken sandwhich. They have pineapple bread!!! Mmmm perfect with hot tea. If you’ve been to an 85° Bakery, pretty much the same deal here. But don’t forget to check out their cheesecake slices and cake rolls. I recommend their Napoleons — also available in chocolate. They’re a bigger portion than the French bakeries in the OC. Students good for you!!! Lucky to have this close by.

Its hard finding a Chinese Bakery in the IE. Luckily, I ventured out and found this bakery in Riverside. It had the same light consistency as other Chinese cakes. We didn’t get to eat it til the next day. The frosting was starting to lose its nice appearance but it still tasted light and good. I give it a four for having it out here in the IE. I also tried their taro bun that was good. The pineapple bun was pretty good too according to my husband. The bakery itself is very small in the University Village next to a 7-eleven. Having never been to that plaza, its a bit confusing. There are some free peripheral parking but you would most likely have to pay. Interestingly, this bakery is right next to the entrance to the paid parking area so it’s a bit confusing when you get there. There are like 3 parking spaces in front of the bakery and 7-eleven. It must be hard parking there as cars frequently come out of the parking area. I also found parking up against the fences. It may be illegal but there were many people parking there. Another problem I have with this bakery is that there is only one person working there. So if you are calling and he/she is with a customer, you will most likely not get thru. I had to drive out here to Riverside to see if there was a cake I can purchase. The person who wrote HBD on my cake didn’t have good penmanship and it was written in a purple/blue icing for a girl’s cake! Other than that, I’m glad I found a Chinese Bakery.

As a student, Uncle Chuang’s is a lifesaver. THANKYOU for affordable and yummy pastries, ranging from $ 1 cookies to $ 2.50 sandwiches to $ 5 roll cakes. At first I wasn’t as big of a fan– I’ve tried fancier asian bakeries, and to be honest, their dough isn’t as flavorful as you might first expect. But their dough is fluffy, and their fillings are pretty flavorful. So, as a student, I’ve come to adore this bakery. I’ve brought their roll cakes to hangouts w/friends, and it was adored. Especially with tea. Service is great. I’m nearly always welcomed, and the staff are always pleasant to talk to. You may want to pay attention to the times. The«red shelf»(its not red, it has an index card on it) shows the times that the«red shelf» pastries are re-stocked, which has most of their good stuff. If your sandwich has been sitting on the shelf for 2 hours, it could be a bit soggy; usually not bad, but its noticable(from experience). RECOMMENDATIONS: red bean bun(tastier than it sounds) spam musabi(yep they do that) chicken sandwich w/cucumber(chicken is cooked to perfection & sweet pickled cucumber is fantastic) honey cake(a simple light dessert) wife cake(a cake-like cookie w/wintermelon) If you get the free drink for buying $ 5 worth of food, CAREFUL! the iced teas are superrrrr sweet. but I love it– it’s a guilty little treat, personally. You can just go for a tea bag & hot water if you want regular tea, or get coffee. All of these are super great for the price they come at, and I think that’s perfect for a bakery right next to UCR. If you’re comparing Uncle Chuang’s to the best bakeries in LA County, then it’d probably be a 3⁄5. But I’m comparing it to my personal satisfaction and experiences, and its totally a 5⁄5. Every student should consider this bakery if they’re on a time crunch for food, or want to treat themselves to a cheap dessert.

I suspect going near closing time isn’t the best for a first impression but I know already that I will return. Think of this bakery as a miniature 85 Degree Bakery. The items that I saw tonight are different but overall there is a sizable selection for cheap too. I tried a croissant(yum) and a strawberry roll for breakfast tomorrow. A glance around showed they have pastries, cookies, rolls, butter and other types of bread, and most importantly: egg tarts! The latter item would be best fresh in the morning so I must wait until next time. Basically, the ever growing Asian population at UCR is stimulating a growth industry of fantastic restaurants and services to help them feel at home inasmuch as it is possible.

The customer service can be a lot better. I walked in to an empty store, and it was quiet. I made me second guess whether or not the store was open. I didn’t even know the worker was behind the countertop until she cleared her throat after 5 mins in… It was awkward. She could have at least welcomed me when I walked in. The pastries are good, not amazing but good. They will suffice for asian snacks here in riverside. I do appreciate the low prices though! I recommend coming with cash cause they only take card if your purchase is higher than $ 5. I just wanted a $ 2 fruit tart! But I had to buy more just so I can pay for my card… But at least it came with a free drink! Orders over $ 5 get a free drink. Drinks are hot coffee, sweetened black/green tea. Let me emphasize SWEET! Cause omg… It literally tasted like I was drinking water and sugar. Overall, it’s an okay place. Want and crave pastries? This will suffice.

Wow! Get the beard here. It is amazing! 5 stars! Unfortunately the rest of the baked goods aren’t quite as good. Haven’t had everything but what I have tried tasted kind of bland. They have a great selection of baked goods. Give them a try. You are sure to find something you will like.

Stopped by 7⁄11 at the UV and noticed all the new stores that recently opened up! So my boyfriend and I decided to explore a little, the bakery is a small Asian bakery but that’s pretty exciting! Now riverside kids who are from Asian areas like Rowland or SGV and are craving some pork sung bread or some pineapple buns will have a place to go. It’s just like your traditional little bakery similar to JJ, with loaves of bread, individually packaged breads, cakes on display, cookies, moon cakes, and packaged sandwiches and cakes in the fridge as well. The variety is pretty large. We weren’t going to buy anything at first, just explore, but then my bf decided to buy something for his housemate and he came out with 4 different things… he got a taro moon cake, sun pastry, matcha cookies, and matcha red bean cookies. The price of the moon cake is a little pricey(although it’s known to be pricey) going at $ 1.25, the sun pastry was $ 1. The cookies came in a package of 4 for the matcha and 6 for the red bean matcha because they were smaller. It’s weird how the red bean one had a label with the store name and ingredients but not the other items… why not keep the consistency? The matcha cookies came in the shape of a tree and reminded me of American Christmas tree sugar cookies and they were good, soft and chewy but the matcha flavor was a bit lacking and they were a little too sweet(pretty much a sugar cookie). The matcha red bean cookies didn’t taste like matcha and there was too little red bean in the cookie to even taste it. Hopefully I can try some more things in the future, I see some promise :)

We were in the neighborhood and noticed Uncle Chuang’s Bakery was close by. I am fond of some Chinese bakery treats, and the lure and curiosity factor was way too great. If they were as good as people said, I might be swayed away from the bakery inside the 99 Ranch Market. But that is a big challenge. And don’t even begin to talk to me about 85 °C Bakery Café and some other bakeries in San Gabriel and SF. I am definitely spoiled, no… ruined. So we picked up all sweet goods, wife cake, red bean filled cake, green bean filled cake, toasted coconut cake, egg tart, and sponge cake. Sorry to say, I did not like any of them. I think the only one Mr. B liked was the sponge cake. So…you see? Everybody’s tastes are different. I dare to say, I am stretching it to a 3 star for my experience when everyone else deemed it 4.5 stars. C’est la vie.
