OK we found where everybody was hanging out in an otherwise mostly deserted Rochester airport one early Thursday afternoon. Two colleagues and I fresh from visiting the Genesee Brewing Company the day before were hoping to find some of our new found favorites at a bar sharing the same name. That’s not the«case» here as they only offer Genesee and Ginny Light. Boo! Once over our bitter disappointment of being denied our favorite IPA, we realized they still have a decent selection of beers on tap to keep us occupied for the next two hours while waiting on our delayed flight to depart. Bonus that this bar is across from gate B6 that United uses for their Dulles flight and our destination. We found an empty table and didn’t wait too long before figuring out we needed to order at the bar. No need to leave a credit card to start a tab here. Man I could get used to life outside of the metro DC area. There are several TVs to occupy your time if you are traveling along and they offer some food and snacks as well. We stuck to our liquid diet this visit. Nothing special here but then again no red flags either. We didn’t look too hard but this is probably the best spot to kill time waiting for your flight.

I ordered a margarita. It was almost water, salt, and lemon. Poor quality drink. It is also on the loud side since they have a TV on that nobody is watching.

Nothing great about this place. Would only stop by if a flight was delayed. I expected this to be a showcase store to feature all the random beers Genesee produces(e.g. Fyfe & Drum, etc). Instead just the basic Genny and Genny Crème Ale. Genesee beer is on par with the likes of PBR. Nothing great, but I always like to try and sample different beers brewed locally.

This place earns two stars just for having a relatively full bar in an otherwise small airport. Aside from that, the food deserves one star, the same level as my college cooking ability. It reads like a cafeteria menu and tastes like it too. In fact, our chicken tenders were frozen tenders microwaved. The place was understaffed and my husband actually bussed several tables. It is sweet that he tries to help, but after a long day with a ton of travel ahead of us, he really didn’t need the added stress of cleaning up after other people — for free. And how much did our two drinks and microwaved food cost? $ 50. We would have been better off eating at McDonald’s, since the food was of the same quality.
